Stokes, Foakes and Woakes. That's got a bit of a ring to it 😁😁 Reminds me of the famous Lillee caught Dilley bowled Willey. The batsman Holding the bowler’s Willey

Reminds me of the famous Lillee caught Dilley bowled Willey. Similar to the time when Aggers and Brian Johnson were commentating V West Indies when Michael Holding was batting: Aggers said “the batsman’s Holding the bowler’s Willey.” The pair of them slowly dissolved, like schoolboys, into giggling and ended up crying with laughter. Of course Aggers didn’t realise what he’d said. Must have lasted about 5 minutes. Memorable, for those of an older generation. UTG! Long time before Agnew started working for BBC I think

Long time before Agnew started working for BBC I think I was thinking the same. Would have been early 80’s and I think Agnew would still have been playing. Definitely Brian Johnson though and one of the funniest bits of commentary ever!!

Definitely Brian Johnson though and one of the funniest bits of commentary ever!! Much confusion here. The Batsmans Holding..... was never said during commentary. The oher... Possibly the most famous moment ever broadcast on Test Match Special was, of course, the late great Brian Johnston reduced to a fit of giggles after Jonathan Agnew told listeners that Ian Botham "couldn't quite get his leg over" when describing Beefy's unusual dismissal in the 1991 Oval Test against the West Indies.

Aggers must have been involved in the Botham one. UTG!

And I was there to see every run. Fantastic cricket with a very bright future and he’s a very grounded young man. What was quite remarkable about the match was he arrived at the crease when we were 41-4 on Monday morning batted throughout our innings until 500 all out then turned around and kept wicket for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday given we enforced the follow on. And he kept well without any obvious dropped catches. And being wicket-keeper he had to maintain his levels of concentration all match. No hiding away down at third man or long leg. Very impressive. UTG!
