I understood. This actually ties up a great deal. If we met, now, i could certainly have something to say, after my family died, he continually wrote some purely evil stuff to me. Now i know so much more, this is just one tiny part. Thank you Yr welcome KP 💙UTG Genuinely has taken a huge weight from me. Obviously i will not go into the whole and sordid affair but you have really helped me, to understand, better, why the bonkers mails and even threats to go legal, from an outsider

There was actually a bit of drunken brawling at the cricket! Considering how long it took to get a feckin pint quite an achievement. Stewards threw about half a dozen out near me. Someone suggesting it might have been football related. None of them had footy shirts on. Somerset won easily. The barmy army has a reputation for it. My parents , when asked what defined England, always said cricket and fair play. I was very young and expected anger from them but got the polar opposite

Most if those who queued up early must have missed most of Smeed’s 94. Took ages for them to get served, more frustration perhaps? UTG!

Looking forward to the Ashes , it’s the only cricket I’ll watch with great interest apart from the one day world cups . Have we got a genuine chance this time , home advantage and think we’ve improved a bit lately?

Oops, sorry about the repeat, don't know how quote works! I was just going to respond to the beer queue thread by saying that my mate queued for 40 minutes from 6.15pm to get a round in by which time Somerset were carting us around the ground. After that we were reduced to drinking diet coke from the burger stand 😬

I’m taking a mob of Gloucestershire’s finest to take the Somerset home end soon. I’m usually quite reluctant to start a fight at a Glos v Somerset match. I wouldn’t want to inadvertently punch a Rovers fan in the face. …..luckily that feeling wears off after 5 pints of apples. Soz Yatton…..collateral damage init.

Never any brawling at England cricket. Much more likely to happen in club T20 stuff, such as Glos v Som, Essex v Kent, or Lancs v Yorks.

Lots of talk about how Bazball in the Ashes may create new fans with it's crash bang wallop style.
Due to the old cricket hierarchy very few local players get the chance to represent England. In recent years Bracey (a Gashead) played a few times but Tres (Sheedhead) played in the great series when Freddie became a star.
I think it will be quite even but the Aussies may rip through us and win by an innings in one test match as we bat gung ho, but can also see us getting a major high score when things go right for us with the bat and force them to follow on with Anderson and Broad strangling the Aussie batsman and making sure they get the wickets as they try to bat through 6-7 sessions.
I imagine it will swing one way and the other and Moen Ali may be an unlikely hero and Warner to do some damage despite recent loss of form. Root and Anderson (and Smith) to be constantly brilliant yet again.

Can't wait for the Ashes to start, but I fear a beating. I suspect Australian line and length will prevail more often than our flamboyant batting, with our openers never getting going.
That said at least one ridiculous 400 run 4th innings chase is on the cards.
Ashes trivia, I was knocked out as a enthusiastic but talentless youngster batting against Mike Witney in the indoor nets at Gloucester in 1981 before his Ashes call up later that summer.

You can’t support Somerset and support the Gas. Gas and Glocs are like salt and pepper. They go together.
North of the river.
Astounded some so called rovers fans support a team who are basically Bristol sports next venture.
Up the Glocs!

So are you telling me as a person that was born & bred and lived in Somerset all his life cannot support Rovers ? What a load of rubbish. Anyway in football terms I think of Gloucs as Non League.
