I was in contact with TG this afternoon, mentioned incoming players and he said he had been very busy this summer and there was lots more to do. Read intp that what you will. Said nothing then basically. Yeah pretty much every team would say the same thing

Charlton seems the most obvious. Shows they're going for promotion. If we watwd promotion enough then this is the sort of signing we would go for. Maybe we have? Who knows which players the club are genuinely after. Can't make players sign for you if they're wanting to go elsewhere or have been offered better than what we can budget for Assuming we did offer £200K+ for May it'll be interesting to see now if we spend that on another player this summer, if he does decide to sign for Charlton.

Just as I expected, that’s the end of that….
Now it’s obvious we are in for a centre forward, go after the following:
Sam Smith Tyler Walker James Wilson (the other one 🤣) Isaac Vassell Daniel Butterworth

Yeah pretty much every team would say the same thing I suppose it suggests more players are coming in. Yeah but I can't think of many teams who are good to go at the moment. Contracts only ran out a few days ago. It was a case of saying something without actually saying anything

If we do have £200K to spend on a striker hopefully we can do better.

Tbf, I'm not too upset we ain't getting him. No resale value.

Tbf, I'm not too upset we ain't getting him. No resale value. So if he scored another 20 goals this season and got us promoted you wouldn't be happy? If he did I'd imagine some of the present squad's resale values would increase substantially as Championship players.

Sounds like the ITK guy is just covering his bases and has no idea. Gotta be a long shot for us, but lets take it if we can!

It's a shame. I think May would have been a very good signing and if he wasn't joining you I'd like him to have gone to Gillingham. I'm not convinced Dean Holden is a good manager.

Really not bothered if he signs or not ..... Nice if he does but confident we will find an alternative option. Certainly not worth breaking our wage structure for him.

I'm not convinced Dean Holden is a good manager. can't comment about him as a manager but he is a very nice bloke. Bought a couple of gasheads a few drinks when he was manager at the dark side and was happy to talk about football generally

Not that I ever thought we’d have a chance, but I’d be gutted if we did miss out on him.
And tbh, I’m surprised why others wouldn’t be that bothered. Top scorer over 2 years in the league playing along side Collins, Brown, Thomas and Sinclair is a scary prospect

There are no alternatives with that sort of record we'd have any chance of signing.

Failing to sign Alfie May would no doubt be a big blow to Rovers, who would have had a striker who knows where the back of the net is! Rovers are often left behind when it comes to obtaining these high-caliber players. I suppose this is the difference between challenging for a promotion place to languishing in mid-table.

Always a bit wary once it goes past a certain length of time, I'll write this one off, I think.
