Fancy that, paying a very expensive lawyer only for them to say nothing going on here.. we’ll see what comes out in the wash. The young person involved, unfortunately only cares about the next drug he/she can take to feed that habit, unfortunately that money comes from this predator at the beeb so they’re not likely to bite the hand that feeds! I feel for the parents who are the ones pushing this, it’s no secret the young person involved doesn’t want to push ahead with charges. I just find it sickening the BBC knew about this and let it drag on for months. Should have been suspended the moment the complaint was made. What is motivating the mother and stepfather here? A genuine welfare interest (odd way to go about it using a tabloid) or simply £’s? Will any MP use parliamentary privilege to expose the presenter? Disgraceful if they do at this stage. Pretty sure I heard they weren’t paid anything by the Sun

Or indeed what is The Sun's motivation in holding back evidence they say they have seen. Who is funding the lawyer? Plenty of suggestions going round as to the circumstances, not sure many will come out of this well.

I really cba to follow this story. Can anyone summarise it and why it’s such a big deal? BBC guy (?) ( Think everyone knows who it is ) , pays 35k over a few yrs to young lad for explicit pics etc . Lad goes off rails and turns into a junkie . Parents find out , complain to bbc but bloke still on tv , then they go to the sun . Lad then claims nothing illegal has happened but it’s illegal to punt dodgy pics under the age of 18 .

Not a good idea on an open forum however it seems the whole Country is engaged in this , fascinating human behaviour: Major war in Europe Planet burning Economy fooked Etc etc But hey ho let's get worked about something which doesn't even appear to be a crime. What separates us from the Apes!!

FYI it is a crime!

I hope the motivation is to keep the offender away from there vunarable child, its not money thye're after they've come out and said no money was exchanged for the story and I beleive it.
To me it looks like a desperate last ditch attempt from suffering partents to save their child from a horrible habbit being fed by the BBC.
They've approached the BBC to raise the issue, BBC has ignored it completely - In desperation they've reported the story to the SUN and it's kicked them into action! Good on them I say (not often you can say that about the SUN!)

Are you sure it's a crime, not according to the legal fraternity Ps Just for clarity if there's been a crime committed get on and prosecute, that's my attitude. Um trying to add a bit of context to what I see as completely OTT reporting

Are you sure it's a crime, not according to the legal fraternity The protection of children act 1978 - It's illegal to posses indecent images of people under the age of 18.

The interesting thing, not withstanding the seriousness of the allegations, is that the people could have met in person for sex, but the rules around online images start at 18. Is it actually a crime Stuart, some say yes others no,confused Depends on what exactly happened. Aiui, if said presenter just watched the under 18 images then it's probably something difficult to prove, if they stored or actively encouraged then that could be different. Once they turned 18, then probably legal. The other aspect is the complaints procedures at the BBC, could this have been done better? They are trying to navigate between ignoring as per Saville and reporting without due process or checking thoroughly as in the Cliff Richard debacle.

The bit that gets and annoys me is the mother blaming the presenter for their child's cocaine habit. If you work in Tesco and then spend money on cocaine after your shift, how is that Tesco's fault?!
I kind of feel it is much ado about nothing but also intrigued by who it could be.

The parents were desperate for the presenter to stop sending funds to their child for sexually explicit photos which was used to fund a drug habit. Wouldn't any caring parent do the same. Whilst the youngster may already have had a drug habit it certainly doesn't help when they are receiving 10s of 1000s of pounds in an illegal manner.
