Am I the only one who thinks that whilst he is a great player and a natural goal scorer at this level, I don’t think he’s the right fit for how we now play and if we did sign him then we’d need to change our style of play to be round him? I look at the work rate and unselfish play that big John gets through and our high press and just don’t see JCH fitting into that… he’s a more traditional number 9 imo where you play the ball to him and where he’s positioned and I just don’t see him doing the athletic aggressive closing down and pressing and dirty work like Marquis (and to be fair Loft when he comes on) does…. Great player but for me not what we need in our style of play now…. That is why Joey wants to work with him.
I don't think John Marquis was that type of player before he came here, either.
Joey thinks he can make JCH even better!
It’ll take 6 months to get him properly fit first

Surely we could use JCH fully to our advantage. Shell out big money to get us to the Championship and attract better, younger talent when we’re there? I think the investment (provided it gets us there) would be a good one and would serve our purposes well.
Regardless of his age and whether there’s any money to be made?

Peterborough haven't been promoted despite his goals. Maybe he doesn't offer enough in other parts of his game for higher league clubs?

Regardless of his age and whether there’s any money to be made? agree with this, I said on another thread pre season time it’s the signing of intent, regardless of his fitness, we did that last season with Coburn, bought him to get him in the building, not fit, but we had him. In my opinion signing JCH will be a true watershed moment for us, it will show the rest of the league our intentions, smash our 30 odd year transfer record, and pretty much guarantee a top 6 finish at the very least, with JCH’s ability to score 20+ goals a season

He is a guaranteed 20 goals in his current fitness level. If Joey gets him back at it and to his best, fired up, he could genuinely score 30+. He has before, and we know we have the most creative side in the league to support him.

That’s fair….. personally for they amount he’ll cost (reckon £750k plus and I just don’t see us paying that sort of money) and his age (29?) I think he’s had a fairly long and established career playing in a certain way that has been successful for him and it’s late (and a risk) trying to mould him into a different type of no 9….. take your point re Marquis but I’d always known him as a hard working energetic forward so whilst i agree he’s evolved his game with us - he was already in that mindset and had the base foundations…. I do think JB could get the most out of JCH but personally I think he’s the right player but the wrong time for us as he wouldn’t fit immediately to how we play and it would take a while to shape him…. Personal view which could be completely wrong! 😊

I think a lot of people are missing the biggest stumbling block in bringing JCH back to the mem and that's wages he's not going to be cheap

They will get the goals needed and will also be prepared to do the hard yards in a game.

I'd rather have him upfront for us, with his team spirit, than someone who is a loner.

Please , I’ve literally only just started to get over it. I also remember the previous season when we had , Steven Gillespie and Chris Beardsley firing us to relegation And swapping Eliot Richards for Alan Gow 🫣 I forgot about that , Gow came in and pretty much got injured straight away and was ruled out for the rest of the season. That season was just a pure nightmare from start to , well , we all know how it ended.

We should of had 5 v Barnsley, and put Charlton to bed before a last gasp 98th minute winner.
We are very creative with Collins, Jevani Brown, Sinclair, Thomas, Harvey Vale etc, just imagine JCH on the end of their creativity.
30 goals easy imo.
What we're crying out for!
Edit: I do rate Marquis by the way.

Posh transfer list players when they enter their final year of contract. They know JCH can walk away a free agent in the summer and get nothing back. They will want him to either sign a contract extention or leave now. They can big up the price at the mo as its now at the max they can get. Come January they will take the best thats offered.
So no wonder the posh owner is trying to amp up the bidding war.

But not for a counter attacking team set up.nless he massively improves his fitness we cant expect these players to wait for him to catch up to get on the end of a pass.
