The fact that we are now aspiring to signing players of the caliber of JCH just proves that there's been a massive ambition shift in the last few days! Fully expect a marquee signing of sorts given our new investment. If the board have ambition this season to challenge the playoffs then a player of JCH's quality would show intent.

For sure he knows where the back of the net is but I am not sure about the effort he puts in. During the second leg of the playoffs at Sheff Wed, he looked an absolute carthorse and looked to be struggling to get around the pitch. He didn't chase or press the defence. Not sure our totally tolerant fan base would put up with that?
I think his time for a move to the championship has gone (he didn't do that well when there with Posh)
So I agree with others that say we need to look elsewhere.

Harrogate Town boss Simon Weaver claimed two or three League One clubs have seen bids rejected for star forward Luke Armstrong. 27, strong, quick & a brilliant goal record in L2. Could see us being in for him. North East born & roughly based so would need to be a good contract to come down here.

Let's please have some sanity. Some random kiddie on twitter saying "imagine JCH!" In jest cannot be translated as the club are looking to sign him. Absolute lunacy and people need to calm down as you're looking a bit silly. I would imagine the main thrust of the investment will be on their expertise in real estate and the likelihood of the FM happening feels a little bit closer with them onboard. We won't suddenly be spending 2M on JCH and Nombe.

From a personal point of view, I'd rather the new investors concentrated on the infrastructure side.
If we started spending big on players it would only ramp up asking prices.

This just simply isn't going to happen - Posh would want around £900,000 & JCH would be on £9k a week I would imagine. 1. Our new investors may be rich but smashing our transfer record will not happen immediately 2. JCH isn't a re-sell asset, it would be a big risk 3. He will have Championship offers on the table It's probably got 3% chance of happening. Exactly what I was saying a week or two ago……….but things can change quickly in football !! |

JCH is a great striker but not sure he would fit with the current team or is needed. We have a lot of cover in Attack and it wasn't really a problem scoring last year, even if Collins goes I think Brown will shine. Its defense and defensive midfield we need to add real strength to. Some of the defending in games last year was woeful. It's good to see we have made some significant signings in these areas but if we were going to splash the cash then let's get in a quality CDM, someone to run the show.

So unless Derby or Bolton want him where else does he go ? Would much rather we spend some money on a player on the way up rather than one on the way down . |

The pure fact we’ve landed players like CT and LT goes to show that there’s the possibility we could land JCH if we wanted.
Sure it’s unlikely, it probably won’t happen. But we’ve made some big investments this summer and I wouldn’t rule it out altogether.
It’s not just because he’s a former rovers player - JB has often mentioned about what he’d do with JCH and complimented him as a player. He has mentioned how he’d get him to the championship and jokingly mentioned to him about him coming back. Jokes quickly can become serious in this kind of matter.
He doesn’t seem to be going to any championship clubs in a rush and all the while that reduces his valuation with him having 1 year on the contract and being on the transfer list. Which is a bloody odd policy when you think about it.

I know that Barton is an admirer of JCH, however, I wonder how much he knows about him off the pitch? Remember when they had to keep him out of shot in the pre-season training videos because he'd returned 2 stone overweight, and an absolute mess? Not sure that Barton would have the tolerance of Coughlan (who had previous knowledge of JCH).

I just don’t see the point. He might be good for another season or two but he won’t have a resale value after that. Besides we’re already all struggling to decide who would be the first 11. Brown , Marquis and Collins to start so not sure how JCH would even fit in. Not discrediting him as a striker I think he’s excellent.
