Having heard the clip it puts a different perspective on things Where is the link to the clip ? I have only heard Joey say there were hopefully two more players coming in by the end of next week, if that happens then he would be able to decide who will be actually leaving, or words to that effect. |

The irony of that man talking about professional behaviour mind! Better decide who goes on the mural on the back of the East stand bogs now, there's a space coming up. My thoughts exactly ! Barton talking about professional Behaviour and not letting emotions get the better of him ! . This Coming from a bloke who’s made the headlines throughout his career for acting like a complete 🔔 end ! . |

Very honest interview from Barton. I will always be a Belly fan, but he's obviously burnt his bridges here, I wish him well in getting the number one jersey at a decent club.

Big risk this, it could be DC mildenhall moment rehashed.
Sounds like it's best for all parties for a mutual severing.
I like Belly and and confident he would have saved some of the goals we've conceded. He's a fan fav.
I also admire his work ethic, he could've done a Bennett, but wants to be first team and work - fair play to him.

If Belshaw goes then it doesn't sit well with me regarding our goalkeeping options.
No issues having Matt Cox, but injury or international duty and and we're light on experience

I don't understand what the issue is with contacting JB on a Saturday. Surely that is a work day? Although, he's obviously heard that he's lost his shirt for the first game, and instead of getting his head down in training and winning it back, he's tried to panic Joey into changing his mind. Surely he must know that wouldn't work. By doing it before the first match like that, he's basically saying 'select me,or I'm off'. Very poor in my opinion, and I've always been a fan of him as a keeper. He'd still be my first choice. Trying not to JB bash, but I am in the hater camp. Ok, so I can understand that. JB should be so annoyed with him that he goes, "too right, he's out of here" and that is a completely understandable position for JB. I always say, if you are going to hold a gund to my head, you better pull the trigger. But then forward a week and Belshaw contacts JB the following Saturday. Why wasn't he put on the transfer list/put up for a loan deal first thing on the Monday morning following the agent call? |

Joey Barton has been trying to engineer Belly out of the club since the last transfer window if not before. What has really been going on behind the scenes? So what reaction does our manager expect from Belly? All I know is that Joey is leaving us exposed with goalkeeping cover by letting an experienced keeper leave the club. Belly has been a good servant to the club and hope he finds a good league clue nearer his home.

Stats can tell you anything you want them to. All of this xG and xA didn't exist before 5 years ago or so and is highly subjective. But it isn't subjective in the sense that everyone is judged to the same standard i.e. takes into account the quality of shots the individual has had to deal with. Distance to the goal, angle to the goal, one-on-one, big chance, body part (e.g., header or foot), Type of assist (e.g., through ball, cross, pull-back etc), Pattern of play (e.g., open play, fast break, direct free kick, corner kick, throw-in etc). It doesn't matter what data or metric you look at, Belshaw scores poorly at them all. Some of us could see that with our own eyes too.
The data that Pirate has shown is very revealing. However, as far as Rovers keepers are concerned the best indicator is the rate of my heart beat when the ball comes anywhere near the Rovers goal. I have felt a lot calmer this season than last, and feel that Cox will deal with most situations a lot more competently than Belshaw usually did (and I include deling with crosses, shot stopping, playing out from goalkicks etc). Whether Hall is an adequate number 2 is another question - I guess one day we will find out! |

An understandable decision for a goalkeeper, although, if Cox is going to go on international duty, that would have provided Belly with the opportunity to make the shirt his own again. What evidence do you have that Barton has been trying to engineer Belly out of the club? Belly was played in some of the pre-season friendlies, so was a valuable part of the squad. Hope that he does get sorted with a club soon. |

Barton clearly didnt think Belshaw was up to it in L1 as he mentioned his year in L2 as being a good one. Stats back that up as well.
No way Belshaw will play for Rovers again so thank him for his contributions and wish him well for the rest of his career.

Belshaws days were numbered the moment the 'low IQ Crew' in the Thatchers End started chanting his name undermining Balcombe and JB.
There was a pre match Radio Bristol interview at the time and JB said ... "The fans don't pick the team which he quickly turned into a joke adding Belly has a slight niggle that's why he is out"
I think the real truth was the first part .... throw in some crazy keeping moments and then finally a suicide pass against Braga and that was that. Rather than fighting for his place he has opted to go ... he should do so with a round of applause from all Gas Fans !!

Hope that he does get sorted with a club soon. Belly was initially signed as back up to Jaakola by Joey in the 1st place. So he was more than happy to sign for us in League 2 as a back up with only 1 season behind him in league football before coming here. I just think Belly has chucked his toys out the pram. Matthew Cox is a far better keeper. |

Why didn't JB just say Belshaw had asked for a move and left it at that? Because he didn’t ….. rightfully so . Belly is acting like a spoilt forum member and Barton called him out. Fixed that for you |

Sounds very much to me like Belly has a potential option for a move lined up that he’s pushing…
Think JB has played this perfectly correctly. You saw the team ethic after the second goal, we don’t want that disrupted in any way.

Agree we want a team to be here. Hope he gets a move and we dont have another silly situation like Clarke where we pay someone to play golf all week Shame, would have loved him as back up to Cox, but I guess he is in his prime years and wants to be No.1 somewhere. |
