I'll be absolutely amazed - shocked - if he's even close to being as good as the Geordie Maradona. But we need a reality check - he was a once in a lifetime player (for a club at our level at the time). To mention his name in the same sentence as this new chap is surely just going to set him up to fail. For me - I'll be over the moon if he has the same level of impact (albeit in a different position) as Taylor. IMO, that's the sort of loan player we should be discussing as a yard-stick for success. Well he's playing a level above what the Geordie Maradona did. He's already played for Chelsea's 1st team, I don't think Elliot had played for Newcastle. He may not have the same impact as Elliot Anderson, likewise if we had signed Elliot in League 1, he may not of had the same impact as he did in League 2. Harvey Vale captained England to glory, named in the team of the tournament, is highly rated at Chelsea which have a plethora of top academy products. We should all be delighted that we're getting these lads to play for Rovers. It's exciting times.

Not sure it really matters where it was/is announced. If we have signed this lad for the season, that's fantastic news given what's been said about him by the London press and others.
Some seem to just want to nitpick and argue for the sake of it, which seems a bit daft to me.

Anyone else think we will see an official announcement? Kind of redundant now Barton's confirmed it. Just shows the club need to speed up social media posts IMO.

Hasnt come through the latest signings feed from FA/EFL yet....so not official yet i guess. Charlton also wont know if we have him signed or not. I expect an announcement an hour or so before kickoff.

A 7 minute sub appearance in FA Cup 3rd round - 9th January 2021 and then a 3 minute sub appearance in the league a week later, both against Arsenal and lost both.

Yesterday mid day for availability tonight. Clubs have asked for the official announcement to be delayed after paperwork has been completed. JB has said he is joining/joined apparently. We were also told on twitter that the south stand would be built before the Barnsley match. Best to wait for official sources before counting our chickens me thinks.

People looking for negatives, when we are signing a lad who was player of the year at the Chelsea Academy last season - only on Gas Chat.

Last season he was loaned out to Hull, but played less that 90 minutes in half a season. So he was recalled in January. That's probably what they mean, when they say he didn't kick on as expected. They probably thought he would at least come on a few more times.

As the only time he was on loan, he couldn't get a game. If that was at Hull, somebody explained earlier in the thread that the manager who loaned him gave him game time. Then they had two different managers in quick succession and went back to Chelsea as he didn't fit into their style of play, and wasn't getting games. I'm certainly not expecting him to be the next Anderson, I think Elliott was a one-off. I will however wait until I've seen him play a few games before virtually writing him off.

Yes Tilly A player of his age well regarded by his club and the England National set up, what's not to like. I wish him well.
