Certainly not a given these days. Their Glos rivals are having a right time of it! sadly wrong call for him. Should have waited until Jan and would have got a better gig. Will not even be in the top half of favourites in division 2 next season and that will leave him as a jobbing division 2 manager from there on. Bit early to be passing judgement on DC's career choice when you have no idea why he went there. Maybe he admires the elegant Georgian architecture of Cheltenham. They might not be favourites in League 2 next season because they might not be in League 2 next season. If he keeps them up then they wil start again in the same league as big timers like ourselves, so maybe not such a bad choice, but we shall see.

Gillingham now need a new manager. That would have been the perfect fit for both parties How do you know working in Kent would have been perfect for DC? Neil Harris' dismissal seems a bit rash when they are only a point off second, it sounds like they now have a trigger happy owner

When I heard the news , I wished DC all the best , now just looking at the table , they've played almost a quarter of the league games.......
and not won a game or scored a goal , upmost respect for Darrell , but he's going to have to do it the hard way ie: The Rovers way.
Up next season me finks...

He does not take the easier opportunities eh. I wish him all the best but he has got his work cut out there. IF he manages to keep them up then he will be a hero, again

Been a tough couple of years for him and his family so perhaps he just needs to be busy doing something he loves. I’m sure he’s been well paid but once that stops like anyone he needs to work to pay the bills. (Though I suppose being on gardening leave I suppose that was still being paid.) Whatever his reasons good luck to him. And if he keeps them up or even avoids bottom place it willbe some achievement and perhaps that’s a driver. UTG!

Great result for DC and his team against a big side. Maybe the start of the fight back to safety. I can't help having unlimited faith in the man, even if history doesn't always agree with me. But he saved our club from the abyss, and for that he will always be a legend.

Incredible the job he’s done there. No points or goals after almost a quarter of the season prior to his appointment and now a point of safety with 2 games in hand.
What a bloke

I'd have him back in a heart beat! Wael gave him the boot because he spoke from a clubs view and said without the infrastructure off the field we will continue to stagnate at league one level and he wasn't wrong but now with an improved training ground and wael off the majority vote at board level I hope the new owners are keeping tabs on Darrell if Taylor continues to struggle. DCs final season was almost impossible to get results as he was made to watch several key players being sold.

The man can do no wrong in my eyes!
Doing a cracking job with Cheltenham 🔥
And he's getting a tune out of Matty Taylor and Liam Sercombe

The best man for the job. Remember when he bought the heart back in to our club. That’s cheltenhams and his project now sadly.

DC deserves a crack at a higher level.
5 promotions on his CV with Salisbury, us and Port Vale.
Now he's turned up at Cheltenham who had 0 points and no goals scored after 10 or so games, and now they're only a point away from getting out of the relegation zone with 2 games in hand on Charlton.
He's still relatively young in managerial terms as well, only just turned 46.
What a guy.
