Just listened to the interview back and he definitely says the south end of the east first then north end of the east stand or something along those lines. I think a pretty strong inference can be made that it's just filing in the gaps from that which will be very disappointing if correct. Exactly this, literally polishing the turd, last chance of a new stadium in Bristol gone, little to no chance of any major investment now, and people saying good news, wtf. If it is a polish a turd job. I will be really disappointed. It would be almost insulting. What was the point in buying us. Theere is no "charm" about the Mem. It is completely tin pot at the moment. Needs to be nocked down, side by side, replaced with modern structures, replacing the new shed end once the rest is complete.

Guys, Please stop worrying what it will be like, once its done it will be significantly better than anything we have had before. Ok it won't be quite as great as having one built from scratch but with what we have put up with for nearly our entire history it will do for me. Just glad it is officially out in the open at last. Yeah I get that and we should be grateful after nothing for all these yrs but… it’s a bit like being promised a brand new Xbox for Christmas but ending up with a zx81 😂

i have followed this club since 1967,others on this forum have followed longer we have been promised this and that for far too long we have just lost a manager who in my opinion has built a team capable of a promotion finish with all the injuries we have had to deal with how can you put out a regular side! now we are told the fruit market is a no go what a surprise,if you think these new owners are going to develope the mem you have got to be off your rockers where will we play while this transision goes on
if things dont suit them they will sell up and be long gone and its the faithful few who will have to put up with it think of yeovil it could happen to you!

There seems to be a feeling amongst some that the world owes us a shiny new stadium and it would be unjust were we not to get one, don’t understand that mindset given our history.

www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0gpdlw8Hopefully this link works. Listened to it back over and over and I definitely think the east stands staying and there filling in the gaps. Disappointing. Hope I've drawn the wrong inference from that. What does everyone else think?

So just because we are used to sh**, we should keep expecting and accepting it? Lets be honest the new south stand looka good , because what used to be there and that the rest of the ground is a complete shambles as well. It is a big improvement on the tents but will look dated as soon as it is completed. Watch Oxfords video for their new ground if you want to see what a forward thinking club should be looking to build.

Listening to the interview Hussain Al Saeed says
Phase 1 - south stand Phase 2 - east stand north and south (implying extending it either side) Phase 3 - North stand and cooling fx (which is the old family enclosure in the north west in between the thatchers and the west stand)
So it seems to me the stadium will eventually all be joined up into something that looks a bit more normal!
Honestly guys I wouldn’t worry the worst case is nothing would happen but something is being done and it’s amazing what can be done to the existing structures when you build an extension. They can incorporate new facilities into the East Stand by going backwards at the same time as bringing it out.

When they say the south end of the east stand is next, does that mean extracting the section of stand that currently sits within the south stand and plonking it on the away terrace? I’m totally underwhelmed by anything that’s not a wholesale redevelopment of the mem (which is not my preferred location, but then you’ll never please everyone). Even something done in stages so that ultimately it looks like one complete stadium. All I can picture from this info is lots of makeshift stands similar to those we’ve seen dotted around the ground previously. To quote Paul Buckle, I feel we’re being told to lower our expectations…

Where’s their south stand? What about when Northampton had an unfinished stand for the best part of a decade. And of course we know best ourselves with our countless stadium plans and renovations of the Mem that haven’t come to fruition

Regarding the East Stand proposals (as far as we know them) - Last season many people said we should do exactly that after seeing the Carlisle stand 'extensions'. Now it is not good enough. Can't please everyone….

Will be built before we do much more at the Mem. Reading that we are thinking of filling in gaps around the existing stands is most depressing thing about it. Surely that is not serious.

If they don't demolish the existing east stand it will be disappointing. The sight lines from the existing east stand doesn't allow you to see the near touchline. This surely can't be the plan and would have thought it would be more expensive than doing it all new.
I'm hoping referencing north and south of east stand is purely referring to the areas rather than what is planned.
As for capacity I would hope a decent east stand and north stand would add more than 4K seats over what we have now.

Floating around in league 1 forever. It is becoming worrying that we do not have the money to build a modern stadium with a decent capacity. People will say Bournemouth don't have a huge stadium. But they are actually looking at building a new ground, whilst their owners fund premiership football. I am genuinely concerned we've been sold down a river of mediocrity.

I think it's evident they havnt got money to burn as they referenced banks and other financial institutes financing the rebuild and then future club revenues paying it back. Shame I thought wed finally got ourselves a couple of oil barons when announced but wel have to settle for our lot. Just please al saeed don't just fill in the east stand rebuild the fu**er 🤣

These things need to be paid for, and there are plenty of examples of that being done on tick and almost destroying clubs. We own our own ground in a location I know many fans of teams like Oxford are very envious of. There have been improvements and more appear to be coming, maybe that’s not so bad?

Couldn't agree more. People are blinkered. Joey assembled this side, the team again played with same tactics and won..we have been riddled with injuries all season and lacking a striker. If a Meccano South stand and filling in blanks is our future, then I'm disappointed. I pray I am wrong and a wholesale rebuild is what is actually going to happen, 20k seater stadium, modern facilities of today. But I have no confidence. It really is strange us Rovers fans are happy to be fed sh** all the time.

I thought the interview was honest and refreshing. We've been stuck in a rut, the Mem going to rack and ruin while we dream of a new ground. The Mem can be a tidy league 1 stadium with a decent capacity. We own it, it will still take a huge investment with possibly little return, and if we do invest in the first team and the academy and make it into the Championship - then who knows from there.
It's roughly 10 years I think since UWE was announced and we are probably 10 years further away from a new stadium now than we were then.
