The risk is spünking 800k on a player who is only playing sporadically now , is overweight and most likely on the decline at 29yrs of age . That’s a big risk in my book. We’re not gonna spend 800k in Jan though. He’s worth 300k now, that’s an easy punt imo. Is he actually overweight right now, or is that the same old excuse people use to slate him? Didn’t look it when I saw him playing (on highlights) the other week? I’d be surprised if mcanhtony let him leave for 300k on January. For that type of money they may as well keep him

Similar to the point I was try to make JCH's price was well over valued even back in then and then if you cast your mind back to the actual deadline day JCH also moved the goal posts with his demands that evening was the deal real worth it ? easiest way to get out of the deal is to submit paperwork late so it does clear then claim you did all you could to make it happen

Definitely feel like the ships sailed. Would like to see someone step up from the lower divisions, young, hungry and pacey
Nearly started singing young, gifted and black then, oh for a hayles type striker.

I hope we are looking at young strikers with potential We have Martin and Marquis as the ‘old’ heads- we need 2 other, quick, different types to give us options. If we had JCH, Martin and Marquis, that would leave us very one dimensional. I’d test Wimbledon for their striker Maybe with MT having operated recently in the championship he’s aware of some talent not getting in the first team who he can coax to our club. I wouldn’t be spending over half a million on ANYONE with no sell on value. UTG I’d rather have the proven JCH (despite his age and lack of sell on value) than another Daly, Reilly or James 😁

The £300k that they would receive would also help them strengthen in other areas. They would be mad to keep him if that type of offer comes in.

We got over 500k for Bodin in a similar situation.

If we’re still in with a chance of getting Jono back in, we have to take it. Man scores goals simple, he’s far from past it at 29. I just hope the JCH budget wasn’t used up on the South Stand. If we could get him for £300k-£350k we’d be mad not to do it. Like you say he scores goals at a prolific rate at this level and has at least 2-3 good years ahead of him. If during that 2-3 year period he scores the goals to get us to the championship it would be one of the best deals we’ve ever had - a risk worth taking for the owners. It’s almost like a league one equivalent of Bayern buying Harry Kane. No sell on value but his goals make him worth it.

We got over 500k for Bodin in a similar situation. We got 450k for a much younger player who was first team. Perhaps it went up after add-ons, but I’d happily pay P’boro extra cash based on JCH scoring goals tbh. Generally the stock market has crashed in lower leagues since Covid. 300k would be a good deal for both clubs imo

I don’t think P’Boro would bite off their nose to spite their face in this situation - no matter what MacAnthony is worth he’s not going to want to effectively throw £300k transfer fee plus six months of what £6k per week of wages down the drain.

He also released a video telling us we were heading to the Fruit Market !!! Well there’s a reason to be economical with the truth about one when season tickets are about to go on sale. There’s no reason to tell fans we categorically will not be signing JCH in January.

I wouldn’t write off Wrexham who were keen in the summer but put off by his wage demands to drop down to L2

Tbf, based on that logic we should only post about match day threads then haha. I don’t know about Wael saying that, he very well may have. What I’m saying though is that as a package, JCH is one of the best players we can afford/get. And no one has been able to suggest another player we could realistically get who’d offer us his level of goals.

If Ivan Toney moves in January then Peterborough will get a hefty fee .. yes most will clear debts but they don’t need to sell JCH on the cheap that’s for sure.
Big mouth McAnthony will take great delight in announcing he got an inflated fee … I think he will end up at Derby County.

On this showing (and the first game), I’d throw a couple of hundred grand at Aldershot for Josh Stokes. Looks like a very tidy player….good investment
