Pretty sure MacAnthony said in his podcast that he wanted to get the deal done mid December so JCH could move on January 1st
Be interesting where he does go as I don't think MacAnthony wouldn't let him go to do automatic/ play off rival as Peterborough are sitting 2nd.

JCH problem could be his size + not playing much. When your built like he is it’s fine as long as you keep going but after half a season of not really featuring I wonder what sort of shape he’s in now and how long will it take for him to get back up to firing on all cylinders. I’d rather we spent the money on a couple of young up and coming players as our squad is already on the older side.

If he's looking for one last big pay dead then you'd have to hope he's had the sense to keep himself in shape?

In Peterboros last 6 games (5 league,1 fa cup) JCH has appeared only twice as a sub for a total of 14 minutes game time.Certainly not ideal from any prospective buyers viewpoint.

One day a thread on here won’t become really sh** sex jokes and innuendo. Not today though. Jokes...innuendo? I was deadly serious. X

Fair point, but I guess thats the problem. A JCH striker happens what, 1 in every 20 strikers you sign? I'm not against searching for that striker, we always should be. But we already have JCH half lined up, so why take the risk? The risk is spünking 800k on a player who is only playing sporadically now , is overweight and most likely on the decline at 29yrs of age . That’s a big risk in my book. I guess Bayern Munich were wrong signing a striker of a similar age.

Fit and match fit are two different things Which will be built into the transfer fee? I would hope so Topper , that’s why I’ve said from the start 800k was ludicrous and now with a few months left on his contract, his age and not playing I’d say 200-250k tops . Might be worth the gamble at that price. Saying that , I’d still rather put that money towards a younger striker.

Personally I dont think it will happen. Think MT took the job on as he could see the potential in the squad, with some more minor tweaks... First choice LWB Back up or first choice Left CB And some pace up front (along with extending Martin's contract) will be priority... there are 5 or 6 players already capable of 10-15 goals a season with the right style and formation.

I'd rather we look elsewhere to be honest. I could see this turning into a very expensive flop, as he's now in decline. Just because he's scored goals prolifically at this level for the last few years, doesn't mean he'll keep doing it indefinitely. We would be better off going for someone with future saleability.

Peterborough are apparently leading the chase for 21 year old Al-Hamadi of Wimbledon. £1.5 million is being talked about the fee.
Now that’s sensible business.
They will be desperate to off load JCH, but we shouldn’t bite.
Instead we should be looking to replicate posh model on finding gems with real value.
I can see someone like Derby or Bolton taking a punt with the short term aim of getting to the championship, but in my eyes we need to have our eyes firmly set on developing a team over the next 2-3 seasons capable of sustaining a push to that level.
LWB and a young pacy striker will do me, although I worry about cover at CB if one of the lads there take a long term knock.
Maybe recall beefy and Jones with the long term aim of incorporating them into the team next season? Both young and both ours!!
