Agree with Albaron I think I personally called them hounders…. Hounding other BRFC supporters because they were supporting the team at the time (not necessarily supporting the departed manager). The supporters didn’t employ the manager. I can only relate the hounders to being something like them having a go at the monkey about the tune being played and not having the guts to take it up direct with the organ grinder (the BRFC board direct). Happy to see a good away win and as I mentioned before if Matt Taylor can get us going in the right direction and finish above 11th position then all is positive. Long way to go, let’s see where we are come the end of January. Hopefully above 11th position and ahead of bl**dy Northampton!! I disagree. Some were most definately supporting JB the person and not just JB the manager. Then you and also some of your mates should be able to make the difference between the two and not demean every BRFC supporter who supported the team in that time. You don't throw abuse at people in the way that it has been thrown on this forum towards anyone who stood up for their own beliefs and rejected JB from being at the club. Then, as I have already mentioned perhaps you should have clubbed together and taken it up directly with the Directors / Board and not taken it out on genuine BRFC supporters who were merely supporting the team at the time. That's the point isn't it. If it had originally been a good debate about the pros and cons of having someone with the criminal and footballing record of JB as the manager then maybe we wouldn't find ourselves in this situation. The fact was that anyone who disagreed was called names and were told to go down Ashton Gate. Yes, I agree with that, it’s not right, but there have been times over the years “the go down to Ashton Gate” thing has been rolled out before in other scenarios. It’s happened fairly regularly over the years at least since the Internet Gas platform….. And now, the worm has turned they don't like it back. Aren’t we all supposed to be supporting the same club? I am always happy to debate, but not happy to have abuse thrown at me a called names by faceless keyboard warriors. I certainly haven’t called you names, I have tried to highlight that a better form of complaint if you were not happy with the appointment was to the Board/Directors not the existing supporters. My last comment on this.

Gonna try and stick out this season but this forum has been a tough ride. Think I'll reflect in May and possibly hang up contributions.
Until then less mud and more debates please.
Madness that the OP gets critiqued. Some really childish responses from a few that rarely comment on matches. Nuance is a fading art.

Years of anyone who dares question Joey being called haters etc went ignored. A few weeks of the shoe being on the other foot and we are told to just forget he ever was here and move on. I think some people are struggling to look in the mirror knowing they actively campaigned for the bloke when he was here and now can’t face the reality he is a complete **** after all. I would argue that those vilifying the people actively against Barton were not ignored as you say. It was and has been debated endlessly since the day he arrived. It got worse during periods of bad form, and lessened when we were on a roll. We're now in the post-Barton era and trying to move on with a new manager, and frankly the debate about pro versus anti Barton has been done to death, and is a war that will never be won by either side. It's now just hot air by both sides that serves no purpose other than to perpetuate the division in the fanbase, which we should be moving past. Cutting the hate between the two sides would be a nice step in the right direction, but I guess I'm typing to a brick wall here.

As I said some of the users on here are already giving taylor crap after one game simply because they love Barton that in my minds eye makes them exactly what they’ve called the likes of me….haters.

Not sure if this is your intention but it sounds like: You wouldn't say this to JB face as you would be scared of getting beat up by him. Is that what you are saying? Weird isn't it. It's almost like they celebrate his reputation of being a violent thug? I would never justify some of the law breaking things JB has done. Seems like a not very nice bloke if the mood takes him. But we can now forget him as he is no longer our manager. Simple really as when he was, by default we wanted him to be a success despite of his past. I do wonder if you’ve ever thrown a punch in anger in your life? Ever done anything that maybe you shouldn’t have? watered up an alleyway? Shouted abuse to opposing players? Drove a car after two pints? Or are you just the perfect saint who can live in that glass house? Like I said, this is not defending anyone just questioning the high horse some people feel they are entitled to ride.

I’ve watered in a lane but I’ve never been to prison for beating someone up or stubbed a cigar out in someone’s eye. I’ve also never been in a situation with my wife that she’s felt the need to press the number 9 three times and demand I’m removed from the property we live in. I think that this entitles me to to take a high horse over someone who has.

I can confirm I am a saint 😇 But your point is pretty weak. The reason why many of us were uncomfortable with a well established violent thug being a prominent figurehead at Rovers is it that it reflected badly on our club. It also drew out the sorts of fans that CELEBRATED his kind of behaviour (remember some bloke got a flag made saying “Light the cigars”? 🙄). Impressionable young fans might have looked up to him as a role model. They still might… which is an even bigger concern given the direction he is now heading 😬 It amuses me the amount of people who say that they “were never Barton fans” and “don’t excuse his behaviour” or are “not defending him”… but then go on to try and excuse his behaviour / defend him etc 😂😂😂

I think that this entitles me to to take a high horse over someone who has. These last two posts ( before sleepygas slipped one in!) sum up the last 2 years or so. One side trivialised the things that JB has done and tries to use whataboutism to defend him. You might not think that you are defending his actions, but it comes across as just that. Being put behind bars for abh cannot be compared to weeing in the street or shouting at opposition fans. If you had said: Ever done anything that maybe you shouldn’t have? Like put out a cigar in an opposition fans eye. Or kicked your wife in the head when she was on the floor. (Which are the true comparable activities) Then I would expect a resounding "No". But that isn't the way its asked. It's asked compared to weeing in an alleyway. Shouting abuse at away fans. Which suggests that the person asking that question sees putting a cigar out in someone's eye is an act comparable with weeing in the street. It's just not the way the other side of the argument sees it. The easiest was to prove the point is to ask the question: What would you prefer? Someone weeing in your front garden or someone stubbing a cigar out in your eye?

Feel sorry for the mods.why every thread? Well someone started a thread about calling people haters. It was fairly obvious what it would end up being about.

Dude (or Dudette) by all means discuss why we are upset about being shut down, both when we were expressing our unhappiness at his appointment and how the new manager can take us forward. I do think that we should 'keep it classy', no need for cheap shots. Someone quoted Michelle Obama the other day "When they go low, we go high". Not a bad strategy, especially as the view from the moral high ground is pretty good.

I’ll apologise for my little dig but I do think some of Barton’s biggest fans want this to go wrong

You come across as someone who still refuses to buy German or Japanese goods because of the war.

You posted 13 negative posts in less than one day after a draw on Saturday, one of which said the board shouldn’t listen to the minuscule minority. Great win last night and not one positive post about it. You can see how that comes across, surely. I was only saying to Roadman as I was driving up the M6 this morning that I hope you were okay as you’d been quiet. Glad to see you are still here, I enjoy your posts even if they don’t match up with my views very often
