You posted 13 negative posts in less than one day after a draw on Saturday, one of which said the board shouldn’t listen to the minuscule minority. Great win last night and not one positive post about it. You can see how that comes across, surely. I was only saying to Roadman as I was driving up the M6 this morning that I hope you were okay as you’d been quiet. Glad to see you are still here, I enjoy your posts even if they don’t match up with my views very often think you will find the majority were negative after Saturday.just to say that I did ok when taylor hit good odds after his sacking at rotherham Lots were positive after last night as well.

I would never justify some of the law breaking things JB has done. Seems like a not very nice bloke if the mood takes him. But we can now forget him as he is no longer our manager. Simple really as when he was, by default we wanted him to be a success despite of his past. I do wonder if you’ve ever thrown a punch in anger in your life? Ever done anything that maybe you shouldn’t have? watered up an alleyway? Shouted abuse to opposing players? Drove a car after two pints? Or are you just the perfect saint who can live in that glass house? Like I said, this is not defending anyone just questioning the high horse some people feel they are entitled to ride. I can confirm I am a saint 😇 But your point is pretty weak. The reason why many of us were uncomfortable with a well established violent thug being a prominent figurehead at Rovers is it that it reflected badly on our club. It also drew out the sorts of fans that CELEBRATED his kind of behaviour (remember some bloke got a flag made saying “Light the cigars”? 🙄). Impressionable young fans might have looked up to him as a role model. They still might… which is an even bigger concern given the direction he is now heading 😬 It amuses me the amount of people who say that they “were never Barton fans” and “don’t excuse his behaviour” or are “not defending him”… but then go on to try and excuse his behaviour / defend him etc 😂😂😂 I say I wasn’t defending him because I wasn’t. And was trying to ask you a question without wanting you to chuck JB in a reply. I was more generally thinking of individuals who may have stepped over the lawless line and been prosecuted for that particular indiscretion. Should we not show a little compassion for such people once they’ve served their time or should we thumb our noses at them because of our saintly behaviour? You just sound sanctimonious in your reply’s. You tell me I was excusing JB’s behaviour even though I categorically said I wasn’t. But you know best🤷♂️

It’s just when you start a post with “I would never justify some of the law breaking things JB has done” then say “but” and ask if I have never done anything bad or else I must be a saint. Then sign off saying “this is not defending anyone”.. it really does sound like you actually are 🤷♂️ you see how people might get confused? 😂

I disagree. Some were most definately supporting JB the person and not just JB the manager. You don't throw abuse at people in the way that it has been thrown on this forum towards anyone who stood up for their own beliefs and rejected JB from being at the club. That's the point isn't it. If it had originally been a good debate about the pros and cons of having someone with the criminal and footballing record of JB as the manager then maybe we wouldn't find ourselves in this situation. The fact was that anyone who disagreed was called names and were told to go down Ashton Gate. And now, the worm has turned they don't like it back. I am always happy to debate, but not happy to have abuse thrown at me an called names by faceless keyboard warriors. Strange , isn’t it? Years of anyone who dares question Joey being called haters etc went ignored. A few weeks of the shoe being on the other foot and we are told to just forget he ever was here and move on. I think some people are struggling to look in the mirror knowing they actively campaigned for the bloke when he was here and now can’t face the reality he is a complete **** after all. Or maybe it's just a case of trying to save the energy and fully getting behind the new manager without constantly having to quabble with others about the previous one. What's more strange is certain posters calling others Barton devotees just because they've moved on, even though their opinion was exactly the same as there's 😄

It is very common these days to project, not just in this issue but universally. Usually if someone accuses someone of hatred they generally are toxic to begin with.
It’s like that person you dated who says they “hate drama” - usually the cause of drama.
Usually the standard modus operandi of “kind” people is to try to get anyone they don’t like banned, fired or at the very least, clique up on them to be unpleasant.
Usually you’ll need a moral pretext: “this person said X. I’m interpreting this as Y. Society hates Y. Therefore all this pent up anger can be release on Y, because society says they’re bad. Thus, I have found a way to be really nasty but it’s OK, because I’ve found a hack to be revolting to people without being called out”
The causes change, the reasons change but you’ll never habe a shortage of people willing to adapt their beliefs and views provided it allows them to get the taser in their hand.
Human beings are tribal and always have and always will work on an in-group, out-group dynamic and dehumanise the latter. Look at politics from all angles. It’s not the point to be debated, it’s winning which is important. You can see this where 2 politicians can make the same basic point but one will be vilified and the other celebrated. Tribal, it’s how our minds work. There is no grey. You’re either with us or against us, and we all do it.

You just sound sanctimonious in your reply’s. You tell me I was excusing JB’s behaviour even though I categorically said I wasn’t. But you know best🤷♂️ This is good for discussion and a healthy one at that. When you say the two things in a connected conversation, they are connected. If you had started a thread 4 years ago "Fess up, who has weed in an alleyway" You would have got your point across in isolation that no one is without sin. I do understand that principle. However, when you put that same question into a conversation about someone's criminal behaviour then you are absolutely giving the impression to others that you are defending that behaviour. Crime is a spectrum. On one end, you have kids stealing from a sweet shop. On the other you have pedophiles, rapists and murderers. By comparing the two ends of the spectrum is ignoring their difference in hurt to those around them and society. If I owned a sweet shop, I would definately give a child a second (probably third, fourth and fifth) chance in my shop. However. I wouldn't leave a convicted Pedophile alone with my children. Or a violent rapist at home alone with my wife. I understand your perspective that no one is without their "Skelletons" and only those that truly don't have them should look down on his behaviour. My perspective and I think I talk for others are around the types of act that has been undertaken. If JB had been caught stealing a can of coke from a supermarket or a shop on Gloucester Road. I don't think many would have reacted in the way that they did when he joined. When he got caught driving without insurance, it was a misdemeanor that was quickly forgotten.

They aren’t getting either from now on so they’ll have to get their little fix of narcissistic supply elsewhere.

We have four difficult games on paper coming up. It's going to be even more toxic if posters bring back "Told you we shouldn't have sacked JB" rhetoric.

Enough already. Barton was toxic but the club has cleansed itself.
Let's do the same

Enough already. Barton was toxic but the club has cleansed itself. Let's do the same I hear you, I understand you. Please make sure you copy and paste that for the next match day thread when we lose (we are going to lose this season). To be honest, I thought this was quite good debate. No one calling names but rather trying to get why he was so toxic to some across and why he wasn't toxic or as toxic to others. I'm happy keeping it here to engage (that is the bit that was missing, no engagement just name calling) and as long as this argument doesn't flow into the matchday thread (which it has on the last two from both sides of the fence) then we can all just move on together.
