Michael Smith was all set to sign for Port Vale but the paperwork didn't go through in time. It's not just us! Even happens at the top - West Ham ballsed up one of their players moves when he’d already been photographed in his “new clubs” training gear 🫣!!

We could possibly break that down further. Vale and Crama are starters at the moment, presumably Baggott is required for cover at least. Basically, that would mean Vaughan and Aguilera will have to rotate. Or could gamble and put Hall on bench instead of Cox if Jed is selected. This would be my choice too. But would be ballsy!

Really couldn't see the point in replacing Azza this window when playoffs are out of reach. Would rather some of the money was invested in an assistant to work alongside MT thus freeing him up to work more strategically. Not sure we have 750k to blow when we have paid off JB and his staff. Pleased with Conteh signing and keeping hold of Evans and Taylor. Loans will bolster squad with energy and hopefully help us over the line to a respectable finish. Priority's next window has to be a striker and a top quality goalkeeper although I fear another squad overhaul with MT like players.

Where is the superstar that Disley spoke of ? 😂 I believe Paul posted that about the lad we signed from Grimsby. Would make sense seeming Disley captained them for years. Ok, kind of makes sense

Personally I'm not fussed we just got loans in. Realistically we won't go down and we sure won't make play offs, so unless there is real value for money, why spend if in Jan? We might have 750k to spend in the summer now, that can go on free transfers and wages for better players or offer it for players who's clubs are happier with a lower selling price. I say well done to everyone this Winter. We got 750k for a bloke who has quite frankly been pi55 poor for months and months, got rid of some of Joeys dead wood, and bought in Conteh who looks very decent indeed and 3 players who will cost us very little and may add to the squad nicely. How quickly so many have given up. Have people forgot the team getting to play offs under Trollope and the position we were in, just after losing the JPT final. V Donny ?

😆 🤣 I did laugh when I saw the majority owner with the hat and scarf. Looks like the stereotype rug salesman, in some Moroccan bazaar and not an FC man

I think someone said 5 loans in the match day squad is the limit. And whilst Cox probably isnt starting anytime soon, you would expect him on the bench? Which means each game one of Vale, Crama, Baggott, Vaughan or Aguilera can't be in the squad. Not sure that's very clever on our part. I saw someone posted about Yeovil and I just have my concerns we are going the same route but hope I am maybe just overcomplicating things

Don't worry, at least one of those will be injured every week anyway.

MT has said it wouldn't make sense to blow the Collins money on deadline day, where panic buying is rife and prices are inflated - and I'd agree in a season which is looking like a cruise to 12th place. That money will go so much farther for us in the summer. But yet again, how come we can’t sell our players for inflated deadline day prices, but we’re held to ransom when we want to buy? I think Collins went for a fair price, but at the same time we’re told deadline day prices are inflated. Just feels like we always lose out It's a fair point, but the boy is in a pretty poor run of form by his standards which seemingly weakened our position. The time to sell was last summer, but no one came in for him it seems. If he'd have continued his form we'd have had multiple suitors and could have inflated his price as much as we wanted really.

Looking ahead to Saturday (too late to start and Exeter build up thread) i reckon we could see Vale used as a 2nd striker now, just behind Martin. Loads of options from the bench to shift approach, but I would go with
Ward Wilson Crama Baggott Thomas Conteh Finley Vaughan Evans Martin Vale

Wasn't expecting anything mega this transfer window, so I think we've done okay, the summer window will give us an indication of which direction we are likely to go. Thanks to Roady and Dusty for the heads up.

Anything you enjoy about following the gas? This isnt a "go and support the city" post, but if i was a permanently annoyed as many appear to be on here i think id have a break. UTG, the sun is shining and reckon we are gonna win the next 3

I get that its about stacking odds in your favour and having a great academy, millions of pounds helps that but there are many examples where these things arent a factor. Luton Town in the Prem you say - how did that happen? Scouting/ Infra/ Massive investment - not exactly but its happened. We all need to believe and given the Teds lack of progress it shows they arent exactly nailing it.
