Which is funny because apparently JCH is too old, and Rhodes is 4 years older. (and Norburn) Didn't get to watch the match, so gonna skim the comments to see how we did even though we lost. Couldn't help the JCH comment though. Marquis is older than JCH but still JCH is too old for us. 😂 Think the message is too old to spend nearly a million quid on. Rhodes is on loan Marquis was a free.

Norburn with a worldie and a smart finish from Marquis saw honours even and probably a fair reflection of the first 45. 2nd half Cox made a poor attempt at a really easy chance to clear and we were punished 45 seconds in. We looked really shakey for a spell after that but it wasn't like Blackpool were all over us for long periods of the game. But for a very lucky offside decision, we could have have pulled it back to 2-2. After that it was Blackpool in control and they ran out deserved winners but it wasn't a hammering by any standards.

People forget Grant was excellent for us before another injury. Think he was playing left back then after moving there from midfield. He's obviously rated by, what, 3 managers we've had? He's considered versatile (CB, midfield, wing/full back) which might not help him out. Not sure his preferred position but remember being gutted when he got injured several seasons ago. Maybe people have forgotten or were staying away at the time. Watched him under Garner and thought he was extremely lucky to have a career in the football league. Never rated him better than non league, so if he had a good spell that may have been in L2 where we spent a lot of that season mid table so maybe low end L2 is his level? He's versatile (your words) also means he's not actually good enough to be a starter in any position. Being played by 5 managers just means he's on the books doesn't it? Not a single manager has managed to find his "natural" position. He wouldn't be in the squad if not felt to be good enough. Sorry if you missed his excellent spell, but believe me he was one of the better players for a period so to say he's always been crap is incorrect.

If I’m Manager , I’m offloading anyone who regularly underperforms. There is no value keeping the Passengers , unless you want to sign your own death certificate.

Spot on. If anyone wanted to know what the spine of a top 6 side looked like then look no further than Pennington, Hamilton, Dembele, Rhodes and Beesley. They were excellent for Blackpool all game. We are defensively light in terms of a dominant centre half (Pennington), have no natural outlet on the left (Hamilton), lack someone to cut through the midfield (Dembele) and don't possess any strikers that can create something out of half chances (Rhodes and Beesley). The keeper isn't decent either. Can't shot stop, poor kicking ability and can't regularly pass to feet when he's in sweeper mode. If Blackpool are so great why did they rely on us giving them their first 2 goals and what looked like a dodgy offside decision? If we have everybody fit then we're not a million miles away from being a decent side, losing Wilson to S & D was a big blow, losing him possibly cost us the game. You make me worry Topper, what planet are you on?! Losing Wilson cost us the game?!? We scored one goal, what injuries are really holding us back?! We don’t have any star men injured and every side has injuries. STOP trying to cover up your statement about best squad since Holloway, we are miles away, 7, 7, 7, we are bang average and so is the squad. Bolton was a good performance, we never battered them, it could easily have been a draw as well. We are stop start and inconsistent, the squad is miles off Holloway’s and DC’s right now on Dunford/Higgs budgets, not top 8 like the owner said.

Didn't Collins also miss his 1 on 1 chance before Blackpool scored their third? It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if we had made it 2-2.

Blackpool fan here in peace. Firstly, Merry Xmas to all you Gas heads. I have a very long-lasting memory of 1990, when you came to Bloomfield Road and won promotion at the end of the season. Pretty sure there were about 4000 Rovers fans in attendance, and Gary Penrice was scoring at will all season. One of the best memories i have of seeing our stadium overrun with away fans.
Anyway, i digress. I think Pool were deserved of the win today, but that said, we had to fight massively for it, and credit to Rovers for being a really well-organised opposition. I think you'll be challenging for a top 6 place to be honest, i've seen every team in the league this season and Rovers are among the top of the bunch. Great work rate, some skillful players, and backed on by a faithful support.
We (Blackpool), are lucky to have players like Dembele and Rhodes on loan. Dembele is only 20 yrs old, and i feel sure he'll be playing at a massive club once his career starts to flourish. He's just way to good for League 1.
Anyway, just wanted to thank you for coming to the seaside and i hope you have a great rest of season. Cheers

Possibly 😀 The forum does have a tendency to identify scapegoats though, and people quite conveniently forget the better performances. The same applied to Ellis Harrison and also Luca Hoole. I'm not sure Grant is good enough at this level, but numerous managers are, even with his injury record.

Got to say he's the best striker I've seen at this level for quite a while. Dembele is some player also.

The reason I stopped posting for a while was because I was tired where I was fighting battle where everything I said was made up.
I said they had no one to train them the other week, I said Whelan walked out on the club, I said the management team were upset that the hotel was cancelled for the Crewe game, I also said the owners son was out of control……….now tonight Finley throws them under the bus properly and I’m glad as well.
He said the manager basically isn’t being allowed to bring in his staff, it’s true!
It’s a mess behind the scenes.

Fair play to Finley for that interview, it took balls to tell the truth and not waffle. Good on him.

Oh brilliant, that makes you right then! Ask him why we are 7, 7, 7 please, ask him why if it’s so good a manager was sacked, ask him why we are bottom half?! Stop posting guys, we have a Blackpool fan who knows it all, I guess he saw the Cheltenham home game as well 😂👍

My opinion is based on today's game only - as it's the only time i've seen you play. I meant it in terms of who's come to Bloomfield Road this season, that's all.
Oh - and i saw your managers post-game interview. Call me old-fashioned or stupid, but he said your goal was a well-worked set piece. It was a goalkeeping error and a gift. Was i at the wrong game?

Do we really need a new keeper when Belshaw is still under contract until the summer, assuming MT hasn't also fallen out with him then why can't we just play him in goal? Would have him back for boxing day. Last season the defence made him look bad. This yeaR its the keeper who makes the defence look bad I don’t think we can have Belshaw now. He played for Harrogate today. I think that rules him ineligible to play for us.

Finley said the manager doesn’t have his own staff. And that much is obviously true. However that doesn’t necessarily mean the club is unwilling to bring staff in for him, and it’s not what Finley said either. It could just be they’re trying to figure out deals and moving parts particularly if they’re contracted to other clubs. For instance Carlisle only left Rotherham the other day so there may still be contract negotiations going on.
