Another Vlog from the away end last night. Not happy bunnies in Charlton at the moment. “Sit down you C……” to someone who barely looks 8 years old, what a pathetic & vile excuse for a human being.

Deserved winners, I think most of us Charlton fans saw this coming a mile off, the only surprise is that you won it at the death. Matt Taylor is going to be a sound appointment for you lot, Rotherham were fools to let him go. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they come down and yous finish above them next season. Did my vlog again for the game which can be found here: Didn't find the Gasheads I spoke to on the first fixture but I still spoke to a lot of new faces and you are a welcoming bunch, no trouble at all walking around interacting and I think both sets of fans made it a good atmosphere. Just a shame about the quality of football on display from our side. Good luck for the rest of the season and if anyone posts on here that features in my video or I spoke to yesterday, nice to meet you and thanks for your time again lovely post !!! I was at the valley for the match earlier in the season your fans that we spoke to were also welcoming ! Good luck for the rest of the season 👍💙UTG

Not sure he’s the weak link tbh. Works hard, often involved in goals despite not scoring himself and opposition regularly double up on him to leave space free for others. Would pick him over Brown, who is probably his replacement, every day of the week. I thought he was poor tonight. For me he doesn't offer much at all. Can't hold the ball up , is lazy off the ball, never on his toes anticipating the ball is always caught flat footed. However his miscued shot did set up our winner so il cut him a little slack 🤣 I'm his biggest critic because i know there's a fantastic player in there. All I'll say is that he is still trying. He is showing for the ball and attempting to play positively. He's miles off it but making slow progress towards his potential. Playing on a winning side will help and his new manager obviously likes him, otherwise he'd be on the bench.

Opposition view:
"Michael Appleton has defended his decision to play Charlton striker Alfie May in a wide role over recent weeks.
League One’s joint top scorer with 15 goals, former Cheltenham man May has been utilised in a number of different positions since Appleton took over in SE7 – including in both the nine and ten roles as well as on the Addicks’ right-hand side.
He started out wide during Friday’s 2-1 defeat at Bristol Rovers, having been utilised centrally during the Boxing Day loss at Leyton Orient.
The forward has featured on the right more often than not over the last few weeks. He is now without a goal in four league outings.
Appleton explained: “He’s scored a lot of goals playing on the right-hand side. He’s scored a lot of goals playing as a 10. When you’re in these moments, you’ll always find a negative spin on anything. We’ve just got to make sure we stay strong, stay together.
“Performances like we have done [at Bristol Rovers] – if you keep putting them type of performances in, eventually they will change and the type of questions that we get will be very different. Even when we don’t play particularly well.
“Depending on the opposition you’ve got, the type of profile of the defenders, that’s when you make the call. Is it best to play him centrally, best to play him off the line. As a 10. We’ll do that and change that in different games and different situations.”
May was withdrawn 13 minutes from time at the Memorial Ground, with Appleton revealing he had been carrying a knock."
Our view: We got Taylor, Wilson and now coming to the table, Crama.....if leading goalscorer Colby Bishop struggled, May would have absolutely no chance at CF, so we are making teams second or thirdly think.
Once you can stabilise the defence, and Cox form is benefitting from this, it's a strong platform to secure the Ward/Finley partnership. No surprise, both of their forms gave improved too. Then this lends support for AE, LT, HV, SS, AC interactive creativity and assist.... We've got Grant, Hunt, Friend, Gordon, Hoole, Rossiter, McCormick waiting at various points in the wind. .....but the important keystone is, Wilson and keeping him fit and on form. As I refer you back to the start of our view..

... Did my vlog again for the game which can be found here: ... Thanks for posting this - enjoyed, although missing both Rovers' goals was a bit naff!
Just a general question to all on the disallowed goal (4:28 -4:40). Collins clearly offside, so correct to give it. But why did it take the linesman so long to give the decision and why was he checking in his earpiece for 10 seconds before lifting his flag?

Penalty shoot outs aside. I have never witnessed a group of players look so devastated as the Charlton guys did last night. When Chris Martin scored our winner, there were 5 or 6 of them looking absolutely heartbroken.

Got home well after midnight but worth every minute.
Thought we showed some real grit and determination against another physical and moaning side.
Sam Finley was superb again - real Napoleon running the midfield .. it looked like we swapped Ward and Evans in the Second half which gave a different dynamic. Back three looked better and other than Harveys mistake we looked pretty tight.
Collins' contribution each game divides the fans I sit with .... some think he does well others not so. Was surprised to see he had so many assists this season but still think he needs to muscle up a bit and stay on his feet.
Delighted for Chris Martin two well taken goals - Sort out his contract please. 18 months wouldn't hurt.
January will be an interesting month - I sense we will see more go out than come in and am not confident that the new owners will spend much if anything. Lots of cost cutting going on behind the scenes - lots of roles not being covered maybe improving efficiencies maybe not. Either way I sense funds are quite tight.

Always thought we had too many coaches and definitely too many staff. Often used to see many lanyard wearers on a match day just talking to each other but doing nothing and had no clue who they were. Hopefully the new owners have come in and streamlined things. As for new additions, we must cater for injuries and loss of form, but I guess it will be difficult to get players out, as I suspect we pay very good money for this division. Loans may go back, but I think Bogarde was class last season and with injuries and suspensions he may get a chance. Belly and Hall are the most likely to go (Hall on loan).

I assumed it was because he didn't see the touch, and was conferring with the ref. The conversation was probably the ref asking the lino if Collins was off if he touched it

I still think Bogarde is a great player he just needs a run of games like vale and if given that he would thrive. There is no way Finley and ward will remain fit for the rest of the season so I think we keep Bogarde for when injuries to either happen.

I still think bringing on Martin did invite more pressure. Obviously it worked out very well and as an impact target man sub he is clearly excellent. I just dont think we win that game without all the running and high press Marquis did before coming off. I think we need another willing runner in January because there is no way Marquis can run himself into the ground every game until May like he has been doing.

Challenging player just keeps Martin onside for me. Yep, agree. Challenging players left foot seems to be furthest into the penalty area and playing Martin on. Another great performance and deserved 3 points. Pity Azza touched Crama's header as it was definitely going in but he made up for it with a great ball across for the winner. Also thought Evan's got taken out in the penalty area at the start of the second half near the goal line. Their defender seemed to slide through Evan's to get the ball. Anyway, doesn't matter now. We got the win our performance deserved.

Challenging player just keeps Martin onside for me. Agreed. An experienced striker like Martin wouldn't be caught off there as he's looking straight across the line

Good luck for the rest of the season and if anyone posts on here that features in my video or I spoke to yesterday, nice to meet you and thanks for your time again I watched your vid. You absolutely mastered missing the goals 😂 but I liked that you got involved with our away fans. I didn't realise there was such disdain for Appleton as there is. He was a surprising appointment, I thought you would go for someone with a bit more of a record on their CV that had been and done promotion from L1. He's a bit like Karl Robinson in that he's been dining out on one promotion from L2 and a cup final appearance about 10 years ago and has a shelf life of about 8 months everywhere else he has been ever since simply because his teams are found out pretty quickly. I can't see that changing at Charlton. I think you have some good forward players, May and Blackett-Taylor would be good additions to any squad but you seem totally imbalanced and weak across your defence and low block midfield. Jones has no idea how to cope with Martins strength and Thomas ran rings around Edun all game. Perhaps you would have been better off sticking with Holden as you look like a real rebuild project which will take 2 seasons and 3 windows to complete and I've seen both games against you this season. Best of luck for the rest of the season! It's a shambles by me haha. I am normally OK at getting good footage as my camera quality is pretty good. Although it's become a bit of a running gag that I miss goals now 😂 Because of the terraces and the restricted views I didn't want to block people with my phone so was trying to be mindful. I hope you enjoyed the video regardless In regards to us as a club, massive rebuild project similar to Ipswich, Bolton etc. We need a bit of an exodus and a new team. I think there's too many players with a hangover from previous toxic seasons combined with inexperience and youth. It's bizarre to me that we have Alfie May as the top scorer and sit so low

Another Vlog from the away end last night. Not happy bunnies in Charlton at the moment. Bloody hell, got a mic and everything... I don't mind these to a point (and even though I'm only 40 just!), I just think it's all gone to far... What wrong with just watching a game I know this other vlogger (Josh) he's a nice chap. I can't speak for him but I can share why I do it personally. First of all I'll be honest and say it's my dream job being involved with football, Charlton in particular in some capacity. I started the channel with a view of a hobby and connecting fans. I lived away from Charlton for around 7-8 years and found it really difficult getting to games and was at the mercy of a stream most times. I noticed I wasn't the only person in this position. So it inspired me to start making videos to bridge that gap for the fans who can't make it. I've also done it to push myself a bit, it's been really helpful for my confidence and served up as a really nice hobby. I bought the mic and camera etc to make sure the hobby I was doing could be enjoyable as possible for people (still learning) Ultimately I wanted to do something where I can look back in 20 or 30 years and think I gave something different a go. Its opened up a lot of doors, introduced me to new people and I've made some mates as a result from different parts of the country. I fully understand how people can think it's a bit extra but it just adds to the matchday experience for me personally and gives me a sense of purpose outside my regular job.

Hello mate, just wanted to say I wasn't happy hearing this either. I thought at first it was in regerence to the fans behind us in the upper tier who were standing and of course giving us banter and I hope it was. It was just the one fan who said it though and every game has people like this. Hope the young man enjoyed the occasion as that's what football is all about. We are generally a sound bunch and I'd like to think that comment wasn't aimed at the kid but the fans on the upper tier (not saying that would make it right either)
