I would be staggered if he’s on this but I’ve been told Sinclair is near on this. We were going to offer Chris a deal until 31st July but AlSaeed Jnr pulled the plug on it until end of Jan. Now Martin has all the cards, clubs all over him but he wants to stay but rightly, he’s playing hard ball now. His interviews give this away, he’s really cool on it all, Notts County rumoured, he’s ideal for a side needing promotion in Div2. *DC gave Liam Lawrence the same sort of deal, he was with us in Div2 and into 1. *Oxford paying Brannigan £10k a week, wages in Div1 are mental now, Barry Bannan was on £20k a week last season at our level! I remember when Barton was getting excited about signing this quality player ….. I guessed it was Sinclair. A player who’d struggled in the championship at Preston but was made out to be a coup of a signing …… ex Gas connections helped. I was totally underwhelmed…. He hasn’t pulled up trees has he ? It’s very easy to fall into the trap of signing players who were once great . I think these days are over with Taylor, we’ve been the agents dream for 3 years, it’s no way to run a club long term. We need to go back to signing the Matty Taylor’s, Ellington’s, Cureton/Roberts from reserve sides. Peterborough trade this way, MacAnthony would never ever be continually mugged off like this with agents

We've got Harvey Vale who is on around £25k a week at Chelsea by all accounts.
I wonder if we're paying any % of that?
Money in Football is astronomical now, even at our level.

If we buckled to his demands we’d be absolute mugs. We’ve all seen what’s on offer , no movement but a strong ox upfront who can finish . He’s only going backwards, 3-4k or off you toddle to the division below. He’ll sign. Great link by Gasheadontour, £5k is the old £3k, he will get £6k a week easy at someone like Notts County getting 13,000 gates. There will be no transfer or signing on fee, and I still think he gets us goals next season, he’s looking more and more fitter now See ya Chris ! Imo 😀👍

Exeter agent fees last season £60k, ours is double this, Taylor will work another way.
*Just under double, ours with 13th in the league last season

Yes because he’s playing well in a side which is playing well and the manager obviously rates, for the last 2 games he’s never really bought Marquis on for him. Who else do we get now if we are only doing “little bits” of business? He’s fit as well and has proved his fitness but I hope next season we are not looking for unemployed players in September like him originally! The manager has said we are miles behind on recruitment, what other choice does he have?

He likes the wind up, he will be back, he might have overstepped the mark today but then he had multiple posters on his back. Sorry for misinterpreting your other post today, I saw red over that other poster coming after me for no reason. All the best and sleep well mate. UTG

But then have some backbone…..don’t go scuttling off when you get a bit back . Just makes him/ her look pathetic. Hope he / she comes back and we can all be a happy family again where you all agree I’m right . 😉😂

He's already happy living locally so no issues about whether he's able to settle into the area, no traveling long distances to training, no relocation costs. Those are massive plus points for Rovers and CM.
I can't think of the last time we had a striker at the club who is local, with so much experience of the league above, and comunicates well about the game. That's why I'd be looking to offer something longer-term beyond playing.
There's a lot of money in the game in finding and producing goalscorers. Gary Penrice was good at doing that for Rovers. I think CM could do so.

"It [the situation] hasn't changed," said Martin to the Bristol Post following his brace against Charlton Athletic on December 29.
"My contract ends - I'm not even sure. The 20-something of January, whenever it was. I actually can't remember the exact date but nothing's changed. No words. I continue to do the job and see what happens."

Maybe if he hit a woman Wally would sign off a longer deal on better pay?

He wont be going back to the Teds. They have lots of striking options up front that are better than Martin.
I could see him going to a club in L1, someone like Portsmouth who would want a different option to Colby Bishop and a bit of extra experience to get them promoted.
Whatever clubs he is negotiating with, he will be after 18 months with his current record standing at 8 in 16 games.
