Best chance in living memory to get a promotion to the second tier and we go and make a right pigs ear of it. Not making the League One playoffs even once in 25 years is shameful. Lol, I don't think so. Did you see our odds at the start of the season? 99/00 season was the biggest mess in 25 years, no doubt about it. You’re right our odds were for us to finish higher than last season but only for us to be around mid table which with this squad is probably around right. I think the board were being unrealistic thinking this group of players is a top 6 squad but then having supported Barton in the market with him telling them he’d create a top 6 squad they’ve obviously been had this season. A good transfer window could still see us push for top 6 there’s a long way to go but it’s very difficult to bring in quality that’s not at inflated prices in this window so I’m not holding my breath.

I don’t think JCH will get the salary he is looking for and the best outcome for Peterboro will be to loan him out for the rest of the season.Gets him off their wage bill and probably get a loan fee of say £100 k - £200 k.Cheeky last minute £150 k bid may do it for whoever is still interested.

But to take advantage of a weak division, a side needs to have the necessary components to do well. We were not title contenders according to the bookmakers but the sides that were are near the top. How weak was the division when Wycombe went up? We've had a managerial change and key injuries. 3 CBs are out!

13 points off play offs. Think even the most optimistic of fan should kiss goodbye to any thought of that. 12??? But still a bit much, we need to build for next season. Given Barnsley’s GD is +19 better, would need to be 13 points ahead to go above them.

I do, we have to finish as high as possible and from what Ive seen of the teams near the top it wont take much for a few of them to drop. You cant sack a manager for league position and not back your new manager in the next window, they are even stuttering over offering Martin a new dealI agree about the teams at the top looking similar with no stand outs but think we’re probably going to be top half team, nothing more atm. I hope we get better but a decent performance today with very obvious short comings. As to Chris M I’m not sure. I think they may have already offered him a deal similar to what he’s got now but having seen the reports about the **** and QPR being interested I wonder if him and his agent are holding out for more money or perhaps an 18months contract or something. I don’t know but it would seem that offering him an extension is a no-brainer and that we’ve already done it but he’s just holding out. I guess time will tell when he signs at the last moment. UTG!

Martin is banging in goals for fun & will be getting offers from elsewhere. Probably his last contract, he'd be daft to simply accept Rovers' first offer 2 weeks before his contract is up. If another club comes in with an 18 month deal & upped his wages, what do you reckon he & or his agent would do? Same as you or I in that position! Don't blame him, it's a short career & if he'd been injured or kept out of the team by a fully functioning Azza/Marquis/Brown, we'd have cheerfully waved him off at the end of the month, calling him a clapped out Ted reject. He doesn't owe BRFC anything and vice versa! Then again CM lived locally and may feel he owes something for offering him a contract when nobody else would. Perhaps going into his local pub and getting a hero's welcome means more to him than money ever could. I genuinely hope that's the case as, tbh he's earned it, can pass on some good striker skills to any younger players (ie all of them!) and he could still hit close to 20 goals this season. Plus, it get's right up "their" noses that he's doing well for us😂

Too many changes of tack and internal struggles seems to be why, at least that is how I see it. Our lack of an in-house recruitment and a scouting team has not helped. I look at the teams who we used to play and how many of them have been promoted and yet I always saw us as the bigger club. You are right, it is shameful.

If we were to make up 12 points, the goal difference would be a lot closer. If they were only 1 goal games it would be down to 11, but you would expect some to be more either way if they are on a good or bad run. So can't count that as a point when this many games left.

Are you happy that we lost, then? No, what gashead would be? You’ll have to forgive us for being mistaken given your enthusiastic booming of a post predicting we’d lose 2-1. Personally, I was gutted we lost yesterday as for me it pretty much put a nail in our chances of a play off push. There’s no way I’d be so enthusiastic about getting a negative score right.

I'm not as disappointed as others since I see us as top 10 rather than top 6. ggmi obviously doesn't enjoy us losing but gets carried away when proved right. Some posters put being right ahead of anything else.

Think were'll get done by the odd goal in 3 today , if we avoid defeat will be optimistic to creep into the play offs , but feel this is now a mid table season
if ever a term even existed? Chris the gashead Martin to score , KB doing the pressers I imagine?
There , even got our goal scorer right , and am I happy about it? Am I f**k !!! Next time I'll predict a 8 -0 gas win , AC hatrick , Martin hatrick , LT and Brown.
So gutted after yesterdays result!

Will it be tough. Yes. Is it possible? Yes. Has the club come from mid-table and been promoted? Yes. It’s not over. Never stop dreaming gasheads. I might be a dreamer but I know I’m not the only one.

Watching the extended highlights back there wasn't a lot between the teams, in fact we had decent chances to make it 2-1 just before Barnsley got the winner.
Both Barnsley goals came as we looked weak down our left side, we desperately need Friend to get fit, and stay fit, or an experienced replacement to be signed, as I doubt Gordon is the answer this season and Grant always seems to be needed as a CB.
McCormick looked to have a decent game but Brown a wasteful one, it's hard to see what MT sees in him over JM & AC.

Hope you’re right rich. For now I’ve fallen off the bus - I’m hoping to beat Norwich and give Liverpool a bloody good go and get a decent pay day. To get anywhere we’d need to answer the Chris Martin question. Until recently I’d felt we’d cocked up our season by bailing on JCH at the last minute. But the way Martin is playing I think we only missed out on a few weeks of equivalent impact.

For me we are the best side I've seen this season. No doubt about that. We havnt played anyone and I've thought bloody hell they are really good like we saw last season with Ipswich , Plymouth and Bolton at times. Where we will fall short is that for us to be promotion contenders we had to keep hunt, Taylor,Wilson, ward,Finley ,Evans all fit. If either of them drops we just don't have the quality in depth to sustain a challenge. We are playing well against these top teams with depleted ranks but just can't match them with our silly errors from the squad players costing us. There is no chance whatsoever we finish top 6 this season. However if we can beat Norwich and get the million or so from the trip to anfield I honestly think under Taylor with a healthy budget next season we could do something special.
