Cox clearly has a moment most games, but I am not of an opinion either way as it stands, what I would like to see is the club bring in our own keeper for next season or promote one of the two we have on the books currently, for me Jed deserves a chance!

I’ve put Jed but would like us to get an experience perm to challenge. Nothing against Cox, and I’m certainly not a hater, but why continue to develop Brentford’s youngster and not ours? It’s not as if he is a world beater.

I like Jed but this is quite a young defence as it is.
3 of Grant, Connolley, Taylor and Crama are going to see alot of football until Wilson is back.
We should always be looking to improve the side. Keeper- no different. Unless we can get an decent experienced option to assist the young CBs then I'm keen to stick with Cox. Really don't want to play loan roulette again. Remember the season we had very green Lee Nichols and Kelle Rous.
Cox is ahead those already. And both went on to prove themselves. And I think were seeing steady improvement throughout the season.

Only time he looked good was when we were faffing the ball about between him and our centre backs against low block teams. Let him learn elsewhere and at present is only nat league level at best

Cox is an England Under 20 (21?) Ward clearly nowhere near that standard, Trafford at Bolton last season is now considered good enough for the Premiership.
I can't see Cox has been at fault for any of our recent goals conceded, so I'd imagine MT's concerns this window is higher up the pitch.

I’d like us to get a mid 20’s, experienced keeper on a permanent basis to be a long term number one. This isn’t likely during January so I’d stick with Cox for the time being and look to give Jed Ward games in the last couple of months of the season if there is nothing to play for. Hopefully planning for a long term keeper solution will be in progress between now and the summer.

If there was the option of taking him again on loan for next season would you take it?
It’s definitely not the area of the pitch that worries me!
No real pace up front would be where I’d look to change
The young lad has done well in my eyes, I’ll put my neck out and say he will be a top side keeper within 3 years
If Brentford are definitely not going to loan him back next season, then it makes sense to start the scouting now with a view to summer.
That in itself worries me! Who have we got in that department? I’d be giving Pirate a quick call!!

Don’t think he’s that bad. If we’re not going to mount a playoff push there’s no point meddling.

As soon as we reach 50 points I'd start Jed for the rest of the season. Prepare him to challenge for the number one spot next season.

I think Cox has some good moments, but not ready for first team football yet.
I don't know other people's opinion is, but don't see him command his area or give out instructions. Just seems to throw a paddy when we concede? Just my opinion
With Hunt, Wilson and Friend always out injured the experience is lacking again just like last season.
If we can get one in this month. Great!
If our aspirations are no longer the play offs then I'm happy to stick with Matt Cox until the summer

I know there's a lot of noise from the supporters around the goal-keeping at the moment but I don't see it as the biggest problem.
The defence is the issue. We have barely had the same unit together game to game. Crama, Taylor & Beefy are all just as young as Cox & Ward. All the experienced players in to help have all been injured. I do think we have been a bit unlucky with that.
Cox's is kicking needs to improve but he was brought in on the philosophy that we were playing it out from the back. His general goal-keeping is no better or worse than any other keeper in League one. This is & will be his level for the next 4 or 5 seasons.

I don’t think the Goalkeeper is the reason we are outside of the playoffs. We are where we are because we don’t convert enough of our own chances. I think Cox is a decent keeper and much as I love Bellshaw, Cox is better at this moment and will get better still.

Cox is making mistakes, which youngsters understandably will do, what's more worrying, he does not make crucial saves; if Taylor is going to let this season slip by, then at least give Jed a chance, lets have a look at our own youngsters; if we are going to be competitive bring in some experience, hmm, just let one of those leave club. So I guess he will stick.

Peter Shiton would struggle behind our back 4.

Usual story with local lads, clamour to get them in the team and if they make a few mistakes then clamour to get them out.

Im sure MT has his own thoughts on the keeper situation. If we are to keep the current 3 keepers till the end of the season i would prefer the following.
Once we have reached the point of absolutely no chance of the playoffs. We should use one of our substitutions to bring on Ward for the last 10,15,20,25,30,35,40,45 minutes increasing as games go by. With outfield youngsters they are often bled in slowly. We should perhaps adopt the same principle for Keepers.
So i have not voted as i would choose the above option instead

I’ve thought Cox has looked pretty good in every area bar looking dodgy clearing the ball when put under pressure. In every era up until this one that wouldn’t be that much cause for concern, but comfort on the ball is essential for modern keepers. I’d back him to improve this aspect of his game, though and there is a major caveat in that he is at times put under that pressure by the defenders in front of him. Stick with him, for me, albeit none of us really know how good Jed Ward is.

It’s not as if he is a world beater. Because he may join us permanently in the summer? personally I think he’s a fantastic keeper steadily gaining experience and being a goalkeeper is probably the most notable position where experience is huge. In my opinion he was not at fault yesterday and saved us a lot/kept us in the game.
