Embed not working?Very well-spoken, mature young man. Great interview. And don't we just LOVE that Bristolian twang! Excellent interview, very impressive. What a performance today. Looking forward to many more from him.

Can't believe there aren't more posts on this thread!
Like most it was the first time I'd seen Jed in the flesh and let's not carried away, he didn't have THAT much to do and was well protected by the two old heads in front of him as well as Crama having one of his more assured games; but what he had to do, he did it well.
What I was most impressed with was his assurance and confidence, someone who came with no knowledge would never have guessed it was his home debut for the club he's been at since the age of 9. In the first ten or so he came out of his box to clear a ball, had he got it wrong it could've been catastrophic, but he owned the decision, went into it full throttle and was the right thing to do.
I'm not saying he's the next Schmichael, but he was certainly no shrinking violet and was happy shouting and organising two blokes in front of him, almost old enough to be his dad, with circa 800 EFL appearances between them.
It seems like his development has been handled well, I don't think we can look past the circa 50 games he's had on loan in non league and dismiss it. Yes the quality won't be the same, but it's 'balls out' football, with elbows flying, fans close to the pitch and win bonuses probably making up a significant proportion of a player's weekly income.
He definitely needs to hold the gloves until the end of the season; he's a goalkeeper so at some point he'll make a mistake and because he's a goalkeeper the narrative will be said mistake cost us the game, but I think and hope the fans and the club will stay behind him.
I don't follow other EFL clubs close enough to know, but I can't imagine there's many that have had as much instability and loan options in the GK position as us in the last decade and sorting that needs to be one of MT's key priorities in the summer. The dream situation will be Jed solving that, let's see what the next few months hold.

A great performance yesterday but remember keepers have nowhere to hid when they make a clanger.
He is young and will make mistakes, so let's give him support when he does.
Unfortunately we have had many young promising loan keepers over the years and they have had stick and a loss of confidence, which helps no one.

Probably a guess from the fact we had to do that with Balcombe from the same club last season. To be fair it is logical thinking to assume we would have to do the same or similar with Cox. Whether we do or not though who knows. The fact that it didn’t work with Balcombe (if that was true) makes it even more illogical that we’d have agreed the same thing a second time. With Balcombe the deal was that he had to play the first three games. We’ll probably never know if something was in place for Cox, but I’m sure if there was, it must have been fulfilled by now. No club (not even Rovers) would agree to a clause that a player couldn’t be dropped over a whole season, so I can’t see that there will be any financial penalties for us to pay. Don’t think Brentford can complain. They’ve loaned out a young player who has played over thirty games and is now learning how to cope with being dropped. All good for him and them.

Just out of interest, what’s happened to the other goalkeeper we signed, was it Hall?
Is he out on loan? Anyone got any thoughts on his ability?
Would be fantastic if Jed established himself and we already have a good enough No 2
Put the coffers towards other areas of the pitch!

We will never know but that milestone could have been linked to guaranteed play.

We will never know but that milestone could have been linked to guaranteed play. There will usually be a clause agreed in which the loan player must play x,y,z amount of games. The whole point of Brentford loaning us Cox was to give him league experience. It wouldn't surprise me if that is the reason Matt Taylor hasn't put Jed Ward in sooner, perhaps knowing that once Cox has played the 'Milestone' amount of games, we could send him back or Brentford can recall him.

Though as Belly was still with the club till Jan we could not have implemented an emergency loan.

I liked his communication from minute one, from my stand point you could clearly hear him and the defence also had confidence in him. He also looked more like a keeper, proper build strong and confident. The save that wasn’t a save in the first half when he went flying through his goalmouth stood out early on, it showed intent. Cracking performance Jed and I hope the first of many in your career on that performance.

Another excellent performance from our Jed. Two good 1v1 saves and a brilliant save onto the crossbar from the late free kick.
I like that he’s not afraid to come for crosses and punch the fk out of the ball in the process. Deserved clean sheet for him.

Cox plays and we probably lose that 1-2 or 1-3. That's the difference. I was worried about Jeds height, but as he and many other keepers have proven over the years, that doesnt matter.
