Sorry but not happy, we sell Collins and bring in three loan signings until end of season why ? what is the point ? all young players with little or no league experience, they will go back to their clubs and we will have to have yet another reset, which will mean yet another season of adjusting etc etc, loan signings are not the way to build a team for the future, and now desperately short up front, Oh well sure our new owners know what they are doing, Oh to be a Gashead eh !!

My good friend you do realise this shower of poo don't have a pot to water in, every penny they get is to pay long outstanding invoices etc. forget about building a team, more about survival of the club

Let's all just see what happens before we start slating the new additions. Give them a bit of slack until we can physically see with our own eyes what they bring to the table. I'm a little disappointed but sh** happens and you never know it maybe turn out to be good for us!
Just my humble opinion so please don't attack me in any replies!

I’m not doubting that we’ve blown it this season. The league will be harder next year too. But we did sign Conteh so maybe the Collins deal balances the books?

Chill. It’s just a game where some blokes kick a bag of wind about. Admittedly there is sometimes a bit of skill and teamwork but it’s basically entertainment (allegedly). It’s all about the experience and there will always be ups and downs. Life’s too short to take it too seriously. UTG

What gets me is the contradicting. On one hand we have £1 million to spend in the last window and hopes are raised for a play off push. Fast forward a few months we shelve the £ 1 million bonanza and sell our striker and Loft for £850 k. For the above to be genuine . The club would need to make up to £1.5 million avaliable in the summer on fees alone and continue a budget of over £4 million. We know this simply won't happen. I have NO issue with the club making cut backs and accepting we are a mid table side in all departments eg : attendances : budgets : fees. But why spin and portray an image that we are a Bolton Pompey Derby or Peterboro ( along with the other top teams)?. I think a lot of fans feel that expectations were raised very high and now they feel deflated.

I'm not in agreement that the summer will be a reset. We have a good core of players, and let's be honest Collins has been off the boil for 12 months now. Look at Connor Taylor, Luke Thomas, Antony Evans, Kamil Conteh, Grant Ward. These are players you can build a promotion side around, all we need is some more smart recruitment in good areas. I don't think we were far off this time around, we can all see the progress from 2022/23- a top half finish would be an improvement from last season's 17th, and we can keep pushing in that trajectory. I'd be more concerned if this time next year we're still in a similar position not challenging that top 6, or going backwards. But for now the trajectory is up, so I'm not gonna get too upset that we didn't splash a load of cash on a midtable finish if the right targets weren't available.

Agree, nothing against the loan lads, I hope they do well. But why not bring in players we can integrate now ready for next season. Gauruntee people on here will be saying next season MT needa time for the team to gel and all sorts of excuses. We should have brought more players in knowing Collins was leaving as soon as he declared himself unavailable. It's poor and very slow from the board, I don't blame MT, he has no scouting network to work with same as Joey didn't. The club has to do better.

I’m actually quietly pleased with the window …
Yes I would like to have seen a striker in and struggling to understand how we didn’t get the Sam Smith deal done.
Harvey Knibbs doesn’t want to play for us so he can phuck off.
We moved out some dross - would have been happy to see Sinclair and Connolly go as well but never mind.
Three loanees all look interesting … Like the look of the CB - possibility we get him permanently if Ipswich go up.
The other two bring different attributes and I sense Aguillera as a 10 could be very interesting indeed.
Don’t be surprised if an out of contract arrives before the month end.
As a club we are losing £250k minimum per month , the new owners are cutting every cost line to reduce this - some of the reports I have heard with regards wastage in the past are criminal so not surprised we aren’t throwing money around.
If MT thinks he has a large budget for the summer he is deluded … not convinced he will have a quarter of what he is hoping for..

I don’t see the problem. We need cover for injuries etc as we are not yet safe nor are we mathematically out of contention for promotion. These players seem like decent prospects who want game time and they want the chance to impress that they may not be getting at their parent clubs. Sad to see Collins go, but he wanted to go so no point keeping him. Would have liked JCH if we had a realistic chance of the playoffs, but he would be hell of a gamble now given the price and his age.

Every manager who ever gives an opinion on it says that January is a hard window to make any permanent signings.
I think Azza had gone a far as he could with us and had lost his spark, so it was good business for all concerned to let him go for £750k.
Conteh looks beast, and the loan signings all look exciting. If we were able to develop our own players to this standard that would be great, but we can't, so loans it is.
Anyone who doesn't like this should dig their own cheque book out of the drawer and stump up the cash to fix things.

I err on the side of this being a positive window. We've lost Collins (who I was a big advocate for being one of our key players) but have resoundingly improved in most areas.
We've secured a 6'5, international CB on loan to complement our existing options. Wilson and Friend are back, Grant is an experienced pro and Taylor/Crama play beyond their years already so I don't think inexperience (24 international caps, recently played in the Asia cup and 29 games for Gills last season) is a huge worry there.
We've also got an extremely versatile utility option to cover depth (and improve quality) across many positions. Supposedly Vaughan is capable in midfield, out wide and in a full back-type role. Sounds like a helpful addition???
Finally, we've got a 'Billy Elliot v2.0' on loan from Forest in Christina Aguilera. Idk much about the guy but the fact that he's been on the Forest bench a good amount, recently played in the PL for them and has multiple caps for Costa Rica fills me with optimism. The limited highlights I've seen shows a very technical, grafty attacker with a bit of flair and by all accounts, most non-Rovers-related observers have noted this signing as a huge coup. Big win for me.
And let's not forget Conteh - the lynchpin holding midfielder for a healthy £300k almost-record-breaking outlay, who had a very solid opening debut. The only area of concern, still, is striker but I think the direction in the January window shows that MT is moving towards a 3-4-2-1 formation where it'll only really be Wardrobe or Marquis up top and a flutter of talent (Evans, Macca, Brown, Thomas, Christina, etc.) behind the big man of choice. I would've liked to have seen a striker come in but I can't blame the direction if that's what MT has in mind.
As for 'another reset', we've signed three loanees. Either way, we still have 10 contracted players come July 1st. Would 13 have made a massive difference? We don't have a scouting/recruitment department in place as we've all continually lambasted so it makes absolute sense to think short-term for the next six months whilst (hopefully) getting the off-field house in order ready for said reset. My two pence anyway but I'm content and optimistic following yesterday (and ready for Rovers for tear me down again as always...). UTG

So I'm very glad we're not like them when it comes to spending money. I just think of all those non-football firms who were left without those clubs paying their debts. And all the fall out that must come to the area when clubs spend someone else's money. I get the frustration but as was said above its a game and knowing Rovers its not much different than its ever been. League 1/Division 3 club. And I'm looking forward to seeing the new ones tomorrow at Exeter. Really excited. COYB! UTG!

I'm not upset about losing Collins in the slightest. Stats mask so much these days. Collins has been utter garbage for a year now. He was never going to return to the form we saw in 2022.
Those assist stats include Miscontroling a football which bounced off his leg into the path of Martin to score.
His all round game was not up to the level we need and he was quite rightly left out of the 11 of late.
I think we are all going to be pleasantly surprised by this lad from forest.
And conteh Is exactly what we need to build a midfield around.
Even with a striker signing yesterday we are not making the play offs this year. It's wise to save the cash for it's use in the summer.

The other thing is we really need to see what MT can do with what he has at his disposal before we give him a big budget for next season he still needs to prove himself as much as the players imo.
