Those loan signings, eh? Huh. The usual ridiculous knee jerk thread. Lose a game or fail to sign Harry Kane. Taylor out. Sack the owners. We're going bust. It's all gone toots up. Win a game and get someone decent on loan. We're off to Wembley, owners really get us, Rich trots out his endless cliches about winners win and losers do something or other. All a bit depressing really and I sometimes wonder why I bother reading. Because I still post 👍

You need a good mix of experience and youth. We have plenty of older seasoned experienced pros on the books what we needed was to bring some young faces in with pace and skill to complement that and create a balanced squad, something that Barton failed to do. Obviously it would be great to sign all of these young players on the books but there’s no way we could afford it so Taylor has brought them in on loan other than Conteh who we’ve signed on a three year deal. It really is as straight forward as that , I don’t know what some are expecting our gates are around mid table / top half and our budget is probably around the same.

Prove me wrong toppy ? lets see how much of the £1m we so called had available is spent in the summer lucky to get 25% of it i bet [/i quote] I agree with Henbury that I doubt we will see Collins money in the summer and add that to the so say£800k bid for JCH during the last window I make it in theory we would have the best part of 1.6 million to spend on player budgets this summer but we clearly won't [/quote] In theory, but there is basic maths to do like the fact we lose £3m a season and have a loan for the stand to pay

I would settle for not huge amounts of player investment for a couple years, if there were East stand plan released and it was something far better than a couple bolted on ends. Huge potential to do something impressive down the east side. Build 8-10k stand with lots of facilities. And hopefully looks modern as it first stand you see walking in

Spending 1/2 of it makes sense. That shows intent by the owners.
That’s what Brentford, Peterborough do, who from a player recruitment and sales model are the clubs we need to start to emulate
Spending 1.6M in my view would not be sustainable unless they have very deep pockets and would be as bad as spending 0.

Sorry but not happy, we sell Collins and bring in three loan signings until end of season why ? what is the point ? all young players with little or no league experience, they will go back to their clubs and we will have to have yet another reset, which will mean yet another season of adjusting etc etc, loan signings are not the way to build a team for the future, and now desperately short up front, Oh well sure our new owners know what they are doing, Oh to be a Gashead eh !! Thick you are being harsh. Conteh in and attempts made to sign strikers. You can't make a player come here if the player or selling club don't want it. The loans look good additions and offer cover until the summer and hopefully the establishment of a recruitment team. Collins wanted a move and similarly it's counter- productive to keep a player that wants out. The time to get angry is if nothing good happens over the summer.

Bump Most of us knew we were going to struggle with this squad, but that we would stay up. If the right players were not available for the right price, did we do the right thing?? Struggle in the short term, for a better chance of long term success. Only the summer will tell and we have a massive summer ahead! If we make decent signings, we can say we did the right thing.

When did everyone start thinking that? At beginning of the season, I was thinking we had really good squad, minus someone who can score regularly. Let's all be honest the failure to bring a striker in the summer is the reason our season never got going. 100% believe if we brought JCH in our season would have looked very different. As always with Rovers, we are slow to do anything, we play catch up and this time around never got a sniff at play offs. Let's take the injuries we have had, if we were winning games, I would put money that most of players would have spent half as long in the treatment room. If we were winning games there is no chance AC would have gone to Bolton mid season. We ballsed up last summer at the final minute and whoever pulled the plug are the real ones who should be accountable for what has turned out to be a very poor season.

I certainly can't recall the fear of the season ending badly. Most if the polls had us hivering above the playoffs.the bookies had us around the 12s. Majority in the ground thought we were always in games and were just missing a striker.it was always a one percent minority that wanted us to lose enough games to change things.

How many of our squad would start regularly in a top 6 side?? Which players have pace and can take people on?? At the start we thought we had a good squad. But by January it was obvious that we didn't.

I admire your positivity. I'm not really being positive. I said we don't know yet. We might have a bad summer 😂. The succubus me signing of Conteh is hopefully a sign of what's to come in the summer. We nearly messed that up though! Hopefully we have learnt from our mistakes and get things done early.

We had 4 or 5 decent chances yesterday even without any so called pace but couldn't convert any into goals. I can't understand what's happened to Harry Vaughan as he seems to have pace, if a bit lightweight, but he's disappeared since the last international break, perhaps Baggott and him have got locked in their hotel room!!
