I don’t get this gaschat fact of Taylor not being interested. Stood behind the dugout he was far from sulking. Encouraging the players as best as he could. Far more vocal than JB ever was. Couldn’t go today as I’m at work until midnight, but every game I’ve seen so far under Taylor he’s been on the touchline constantly directing, encouraging and giving instruction to the players pretty much all game.

Common factor? It's different players🤷♂️ We're an average side in an average division with a new manager. He is not motivating the players. It's OK to disagree. You blame the players, that's fine by me. I look at the manager because it's 8 or 9 of them below par which is a strong signal. That game today was no different to when we lost at Accrington last season, and Barton spent the last 20 minutes of the game sulking. For the last few seasons we have had nice tippy tappy footballers who play well against good footballing sides. But as MT can see we can't raise our against against physical, horrible sides. It was the same last season as this. They seem to hate the physicality and back off from getting stuck in. They can't play against sides that use nous rather than skill. They are literally bullied off the park. Injuries to Finlay and others and Martin not playing hasn't helped. We need to get some solid, fearless players who aren't afraid to get stuck in and lead from the front against horrible sides. That's the way it has to be done sadly in this League. Exactly. I’ve heard people saying “ losing to fleetwood and Burton ffs “ today but these clubs are in the same division as us for a reason they are of a fairly equal level. The difference between us and them is that they are built and then sent out to play a league 1 football match, and we are not. That is down to first Barton because he built the squad and to a lesser extent Taylor because although he’s a had a window it is only one window and it’s a January one. If he stays in the job long enough to build over the season and he doesn’t bring in some quick strong players capable of holding up in league 1 then he’ll be on his way before Christmas just as Barton was. Rovers bias aside I thought fleetwood and Burton were very good in both games, tough , hardworking , organised and some players with pace who can really hurt you and did really hurt us. Two very typical league 1 away performances. Well done to them , but embarrassing for us not because we lost to fleetwood and Burton but because we have a squad of players in which many of them are not equipped for the physicality and pace of league 1 football.

Don't really understand stand, we have won 2 in 8. The football we are playing now, is nothing like Joey's style of play. I would rather we did a pass the ball around, but move it with some speed. What I saw today was slow, get the ball to fall backs who kick the ball long and that was it. There is nothing wrong with the passing game, it doesn't work however if you have players who don't always want the ball. Watching Aguilera you can see he trains with Prem players, he gets himself into space and often chases back. There is a clip of Pep saying it, he doesn't mind players making mistakes, the worse thing is players who don't want the ball. I would applaud MT if he was on the touchline giving it some demanding more from the players, no good and probably far more damaging saying we are sh**e in a post match interview. We had games in the latter stages of Barton's reign where we played lovely football, 65% possession and NO SHOTS ON GOAL. If that's what you like, fair play to you. MT tried to get more speed out of them in his initial games and it seemed to work. Injuries have forced us to play players who don't seem to grasp the basics and hate the more physical side of the game. But we seem to have been like that for a while. MT is going have to work on the psychology as well as the physicality of our side as at the moment they seem physically and mentally fragile. Clearly MT just needs add shots on goal part. MT sounding defeated in post match interview, maybe he needs some psychology help as well.

Compared to Fleetwood I thought Burton were bang average, it'll be interesting to see who's left in charge of recruitment this summer as we need players to play MT's style of football not tappy tappy players like the two loan forwards if he's going to succeed. Although what's the betting the owners want us to play a totally different style of football!!

Utter disgraceful backing in the window - completely sold up the river. Lose pretty much all the assists in the squad and replace him with a few wet behind the ear kids who don't even belong to us! These owners are going to bury this club. Mark my words.

Taylor has taken a squad built for possession football and is trying to turn them into a long ball team. Too many hopeful long balls giving the receiving player far too much to do to win it and keep. We lose the ball and the opposition are coming back at us with it. Add to that giving the ball away cheap even when we do play a short game and there you pretty much have the root of our problem, we just don’t keep possession well enough. It’s pretty awful to watch. Tempo is key. Whenever we’ve played with a quick tempo this season we’ve done well, when we play that awful slow football the oppo get back and we’re crap. And that’s under Barton , Mangan and Taylor. We had a few games under Barton where we moved it quickly - Wigan , portvale spring to mind , under Taylor Portsmouth , Charlton Oxford and Bolton we were quick and direct not giving them chance to regroup. Under Mangan we moved it quickly in every game apart from reading where for some reason we played some of the slowest football this season and I think we scraped a point hence he’s the one with the best PPG out of the three. On Tuesday and in the first 60 mins today if we’d been any slower with our passing and movement we’d have gone back in time. I disagree with those saying we hoofed it today, in fact it was slow , short passing slow movement trying to work our way through the pitch but we didn’t move the players or the ball quickly enough. We did launch it a bit in the final 10 but the majority of today was like Tuesday just on a better pitch. If anyone can prove me wrong regarding winning a game this season playing a slow tempo game then please do because to me it’s very clear what works and what doesn’t at this level. Just a shame that Barton and now Taylor can’t seem to see it. Mangan did I think but he’s history now. Good post and on the money. 👍

Perhaps he does Singup; perhaps he needs the [Bring back] Barton fans to get off his back wanting him sacked, as they are saying on social media, and get behind him and the team.... Perhaps they could also look at some of the issues facing him and the team at the moment like injuries and available staff. Bearing in mind also he has only just brought in his own backroom staff. Just a thought.

I got told I needed a reality check when I moaned about the plans to add ends on the stand...it's difficult to have any trust in new owners. January was a disappointment, i only hope we manage to stay up and money is spent in the summer.

Not sure anybody expected the owners to pass 100% of AC's transfer fee to MT to spend this window? If the wage bills been trimmed it's probably still a decent one for L1, losing Gibbons and Belshaw seems no great loss.

Until we see some plans, assuming we ever do, you can't really draw any conclusions on what they intend doing, although anything is better than doing nothing like we've done ever since we returned to Bristol.

Our teams trouble is we are forever coming out of defence. The whole set up is to provide cover and numbers in defence without having the pace to get out if you are all going to defend. I get fed up of the two wing backs having to spend most of their time coming back then having two midfielders defending (generally not very well) and then at the most one player up front on his own. The new centre half is probably the poorest we have had. If we are going to play with pacy wide men then let them play as wingers and support the man up front with proper full backs behind them. We have in recent times had two Managers with an Exeter back ground and neither of them appear to have had a clue between them.
