Ryan is now back at the club for the rest of the season as Bromley have said they no longer require him. I hope to see him given his chance asap. In the BristolLive article it suggested that RJ couldn't play on Saturday due to the "situation with Bromley" - so that doesn't suggest he will be available this season? "Rovers had a well-documented midfield shortage for their League One match at Northampton Town last weekend and included youngster Jerry Lawrence on the bench while Kofi Shaw travelled with the squad. Due to Jones' situation with Bromley though, the 21-year-old couldn't be included on Saturday."

unfortunately looks like MT has no intention at all at doing that. rather uninspiringly saying if he cant get into Bromley's team, he cant get into ours. I get his point, but not actually the right motivation. If Barton had said that he would have been crucified on here. Especially considering how woeful the likes of Grant etc have been. "If Barton.." blah blah blah Let it go FFS - he's gone (doolally!)

So he can't play for us or anyone else. He's out of contract anyway, so unless he trains really well, we won't see him again in a Rovers shirt.

Unfortunately the truth hurts, plenty of instances on threads on here lately of our former manager and the people posting them saying the mention of his name is relevant to their post. I would suggest my mention is relevant. The young lad has just returned to the club with Bromley paying his wages for the rest of the season and our Manager spouts off in the local press about the situation, saying if he can’t get in their team he won’t be able to get in ours.

The lad can hardly be on a fortune and surely we can afford to pay him to the end of the season.

It's a bit embarrassing that we're effectively forcing Bromley to pay his wages.

What truth is that? How is there any truth in a "what if.." statement? By the way; I don't disagree that Matt Taylor hasn't helped the situation by saying that if Ryan Jones can't get in the Bromley squad then he won't get in the Rovers one (not sure it is even true either given our injury list!) ... but I don't see what point you are trying to make with your "what if Barton had said that?". He didn't. He isn't associated with our club anymore (thankfully). I have a lot of sympathy with Ryan Jones. Getting sent home from a loan deal to a non-league club prematurely - especially if his wages are being paid by them for the rest of the season - is quite a statement & then having to train with your parent club without being able to challenge for the first team must be demoralising... could do with some support from his manager, not statements suggesting his race is effectively run

I get his point, but not actually the right motivation. When did he say this? Last summer saw the midfielder sign a new 12-month contract which will expire in the summer and it currently appears uncertain where his future lies with Taylor declaring on Saturday: "Bromley don’t want him so he’s back training with ourselves. They’re still committed to the loan financially until the end of the season. It’s a surreal situation. They extended the loan and they don’t want him at Bromley so he’s going to train with us but he can’t go elsewhere."I hate to say it but if you don’t get in Bromley’s team, you’re not going to get into Bristol Rovers’ first team so we have to put that into perspective in relation to that."www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/bristol-rovers-loan-watch-ryan-9112351

Your last sentence reveals that, but no doubt our present manager will get a free ride on that one.

pointless bringing JB into this. I made my first comment calling out MT for lack of motivational impact on Jones. Many others have echoed it, some have said he is bang on. All fair!

Might be brutal but it’s true.
That said we’ve had players on loan who’ve not got in the team or disappointed who’ve gone on to play at a higher level. Connor Roberts for instance

Connor Roberts for instance Perhaps it's a similar situation at Bromley they have an outstanding LB/LWB like Lee Brown who's never injured so Jones as no chance of dislodging him, at the moment Connor Roberts from that period would start every game. No wonder players don't turn up for training if they here comments like that from the manager, I'd imagine Jones now feels like calling in sick for the rest of the week. You do wonder if MT has any motivational skills?

What a weird way to get your kicks.
