And if I’m right we still don’t have a GK coach to improve him???

Jed Ward got a full game for England U20s today apparently. A 2-1 win? Great stuff. Good stuff! Why is there an under 20 and an under 21 team? Different confederations/organisations have different age groups. FIFA have U17 and U20, UEFA have U17, U19 and U21. It gets even more complicated when you work out who actually qualifies for what based on when the age cutoff is vs when the game/tournament is...

Would take seriously silly money to be tempted. Build our side around young promising talent and tell the others to do one! (£5 million might make me re-think!) UTG

If he stays. Make him no1 and get an experience keeper in as cover and for support. Belly would have been ideal!

Best quote about yesterday’s game: “England lost to Iceland; they’re ranked 72nd in the world, that’s below Jordan. Nobody wants to be below Jordan, not even Peter Andre does these days . . . “

People losing their Shi*t over a training game a week before the tournament don’t understand anything about tournament football. I think we’ll do ok again but won’t win it. Our defence is injury ravaged and the squad lacks leadership even more than previous tournaments with no Henderson or Maguire there. We’ve got lots of good midfielders but only one proven international standard striker and a leadership void. Lots of good players who are genuine nice lads but where’s the toughness, leadership and shithousery needed to win a major tournament? Having lots of good players with bags of ability is only around 50% of what you need to win a tournament, if you don’t have the leadership, toughness and dark art ability it’s highly unlikely you’ll win it. We’ve got a chance of course but to be honest I’d be amazed much as I would be delighted it we did win it.

Was missing in the box on quite a few occasions when we got wide for crosses.

Was missing in the box on quite a few occasions when we got wide for crosses. Kane dropping deep to playmake is fine against a high line because it gives the opportunity to play through balls in to the channels for the number 10 and inside forwards, he’s done that brilliantly for spurs and Bayern but v an 11 man defence he needs to stay in there. Last night was very much like the game v USA in the last World Cup, we do struggle to break down a low block. I think we’ll pick up either 5 6 or 7 points from the group but we’ll struggle to break down every side we play with a low block and I wouldn’t be surprised it the group games were something like 1-0 1-1 1-1 It would be enough to qualify and once we got to the later stages and playing the likes of Germany and France then it would probably give our creative players more space and time. But as I’ve said I don’t think we’ve got the mental strength leadership and shithousery to win it.

Teams that attack against us may cause some troubles for our out of sorts defence but it'll make things much easier for us going forward without having to get past eight players that don't leave their own half. You are 100% correct about the mental strength though. The Argentina team who won the world cup were nothing special on paper, but the way they used the dark arts was incredible. Nice teams don't win tournaments.

Nice teams get washed away like the snow and the rain.

Who’s going to win it ? Are England as good as most keep saying we are ? Not long now can’t wait. Stick a few Bob on Poland. Last night they were 1001/1. Last 6 games unbeaten, I draw v wales. I have watched every game. The team now has a Polish manager and are getting better with each game. Lewandowski has only been a bit part player, goals coming from the whole team. I do not condone gambling but, for those that do, it’s worth a couple of quid.

I thought Poland were pretty fortunate against Wales and didn't really show much enterprise going forward. Having said that, what do I know? I support Rovers after all.

In other news, Lewandowski to miss opening game through injury.
