If / when this lad gets in between the sticks we need to SUPPORT him , hopefully not hear the old ‘He’s one of our own’ chants for Ward, it was utterly pathetic when that was being belted out last season when Cox was in goal , we have to remember not only are these lads young men who are obviously going to make a gaff every now and then , They are playing for our club so we need to stand by them and not hammer them.

Was this the lad that we all hated and were booing at Lincoln the season before last because he got Ryan Loft sent off, by over exaggerating a coming together?
Anyway, welcome to the Gas.

This isn’t an upgrade for Wardy. All for bringing in an older keeper to give him some extra help but not seeing the point in potentially watering a keeper off by bringing in one who doesn’t seem to be any upgrade. We could get an older keeper or a younger keeper. The Gaschat fact is always that it is a replacement for Jed. What if its competition for Jed, what if having someone close to his age will spur him on to do even greater things? The loanee hasn’t came in to sit on the bench. From what I’ve heard he isn’t any better than wardy but we shall see.

That’s a typical Rovers howler … he’ll fit right in!

I would also like to think that Jed has the attitude that he isn't giving up the starting place easily.

I would also like to think that Jed has the attitude that he isn't giving up the starting place easily. I always find it somewhat odd when it comes to goalkeepers "fighting for their place".. I think it seems like Griffiths has been brought in as the first choice and Jed will either be backup or loaned out. Jed can train as hard as he likes - but he is utterly relying on Griffiths going through some poor form or getting injured/suspended to have a sniff of a start himself (aside from the occasional EFL Trophy game maybe) Outfield players can be played in different positions or get a run out from the bench to make an impact. Substitute keepers mostly just sit on the bench. You'd think it would be far more beneficial to try and get more experience at this stage in his career... even if it means dropping down a few levels. Staying at Rovers when it seems pretty clear he is just a backup isn't likely to help him develop very much Weirdest goalkeeper situation I can recall was when DC signed two "first choice" goalies in 2017. Adam Smith and Sam Slocombe. I wonder if they both knew the other was signing when that happened...

Surely MT's job is to get the best results he can with the playing budget he's been given, not worry about developing JW's own career. I sense most fans would accept that 20 years is too young to be a first team L1 goalie.
We just have to hope that JG is going to be an improvement and not just of similar ability.

Best not to come on and start a rumour (which it is without stating the source) and when challenged refuse to disclose. You know that it would cause problems and is totally unfair to Josh G and Jed W. If you’ve heard what you say you've heard then you should say nothing and certainly not stir things up for the sake of it. I think you should have waited to see. Very poor. UTG!

A pity they don’t say the same about Matt Macey, they were glad to get rid of him in the end. So sad how some on here are writing him off before they even see him play and forget his own manager has praised him highly and he was Cheltenhams player of the season when he was there. I for one will give him every chance as I have done for Jed Ward even though he has clearly struggled with high balls into the six yard box and definately does not command his area.

Jed going out on loan, with a view to being our long term keeper.

Unpopular opinion here. And this is a forum after all.
Jed isn’t good enough at present to be a number one for a top half team. I was all for him coming in for Cox but he’s had a chance and in my opinion not disgraced himself but we want to improve not stand still.
Completely agree with the decision to send him out to see if he improves but he needs to get bigger, stronger and more dominant to play League One football.

I agree with you and it’s better for Jed too. He has a very long term deal here, another year on loan is not a problem for him.
