Thought him Mola and Taylor Moore looked as solid as a rock, with the exception of the error by Moore in the second half. However his tackle near the end was absolutely brilliant. That tackle was as good as a goal. A bit concerning that they had that much space when they had to attack after going 1 down

Brady is a bitter man and still can’t accept our promotion a couple of years ago. Apart from the first 25 minutes we were the better side. Did our keeper have one save to make all game or was I seeing things?

Northampton View!!!!!!
Town put in a big shift and looked to be on course for a hard-earned point but Rovers won a stoppage-time corner that should have been a goal-kick and from it Bryant Bilongo headed in the decisive goal to consign Jon Brady’s men to defeat.
Cobblers were greeted by a fervent atmosphere at the Memorial Stadium but they did not wilt in the sweltering Bristol heat in an even first half that was not rich on goalmouth action.

What a pathetic interview. His team were dire and he's trying to delfect. I was in the Blackthorn and am the first point out when we get a decision go our way but I certainly didn't think we got lucky with the corner. Maybe he should have tried to win the game and it wouldn't matter.

Northampton came out like a train but looked tired after 25 minutes and weren’t that good but that was a great pass.

We weren’t great but we were better for 75 mins + stoppage

Thought we had the better chances, Hutchinson and Ward disappointed me a little, Bilongo, Taylor Moore and Wilson were decent.
Liked omichere and thought Luke McCormick looked up for it.
Griffiths never had much to do.
Slightly edged it and nice to get off to a good start.

Haven't seen any of the pre season games so a first chance to see our new look squad. First impressions whatever they might lack in ability they will more than make up for in effort. As far as today goes started slowly which with so many new players wasn't a massive surprise but grew into the game and by the end deserved the late winner. Thought all of the back 3 were excellent really impressed with both Mola & Moore and also a shout out for Wilson who I think most of us wouldn't have picked. We're definitely a work in progress & we desperately need another forward option but a very encouraging start. Also Bilonga is going to be a massive crowd favourite.

Not a classic but the guys gave one hundred percent and really should have scored two or three. Great to start with a win, hopefully that will build confidence, well done brfc

I've only seen the highlights, but from what I saw, some of our crossing looked sublime today.
Martin is going to fill his boots.

Not sure what the ref was supposed to do when we had two players flat out, neither obvious head injuries but just because they are not holding their heads he's not to know if they have been knocked out. Northampton players moaning but he looked back a couple of times before blowing the whistle. We'd probably be annoyed if it went against us. Anyway, karma for one of their players suddenly getting a mystery head injury when we were on the break

I really enjoyed that today, such a great atmosphere when we got going. It wasn't the best performance but I can see a lot of potential in this squad and plenty of scope for improvement. Loved it in the South Stand when 7 mins extra time was announced and we turned to the poor Northampton fans

I share the sentiments of most in here. Poor game really but we look really fit and have some good depth options from the bench (forwards too, when Martin is back). I really like this back three - Moore was excellent, Wilson redemption arc is well underway and Mola is very flexible. I'm not sure where Connor Taylor fits into it when Wilson is fit, but that's obviously a good problem to have. Also very helpful, given the profile of our players now (Moore RB/CB, Mola LB/CB, Bilongo LB/LW/ST etc.), to be able to easily switch between a back three and back four mid-game.
LT was lively again but I liked the brief look of Senior from the bench. And given Hutchinson was very poor (early days so just a gelling/confidence issue I think), I'd be more inclined to see Senior RWB and LT impacting higher up the pitch. Conteh was fine but Ward (and Hutch as above) struggled with the pace of the game. Fortunately we've got Macca, Lindsay and Garrett to come in, so plenty of good quality L1 depth here.
Sinclair is not a central player. Stopgap today with Martin out I guess but that is not something I'd hope to see much more of. Rather him RWB and LT up front. He's fit and will run the channels so, in theory, a good combo with the hold-up play of Promise (and Martin) but he's just too lightweight to play striker IMO. As for Promise, he looks a proper handful. Should've (and nearly did) scored but his overall game was good. Strikes me as the type that will prosper with a run of games and a few confidence-enducing goals.
It wasn't pretty today but ultimately got the job done. Happy to break the opening day hoodoo, too. I agree with Hugo - I think we'll be the type of team, with our fitness levels, that will hit more form 10-15 games in when we've gelled. UTG

I thought Northampton were a load of cobblers, if they don’t improve they’re in for a relegation scrap.
We should and could have put them away more convincingly.
But you can only beat what’s in front of you.
We will play far better teams and need to step up but some promising debuts and nice to see how much it meant to them on the final whistle.
A good start.
