I share the sentiments of most in here. Poor game really but we look really fit and have some good depth options from the bench (forwards too, when Martin is back). I really like this back three - Moore was excellent, Wilson redemption arc is well underway and Mola is very flexible. I'm not sure where Connor Taylor fits into it when Wilson is fit, but that's obviously a good problem to have. Also very helpful, given the profile of our players now (Moore RB/CB, Mola LB/CB, Bilongo LB/LW/ST etc.), to be able to easily switch between a back three and back four mid-game. LT was lively again but I liked the brief look of Senior from the bench. And given Hutchinson was very poor (early days so just a gelling/confidence issue I think), I'd be more inclined to see Senior RWB and LT impacting higher up the pitch. Conteh was fine but Ward (and Hutch as above) struggled with the pace of the game. Fortunately we've got Macca, Lindsay and Garrett to come in, so plenty of good quality L1 depth here. Sinclair is not a central player. Stopgap today with Martin out I guess but that is not something I'd hope to see much more of. Rather him RWB and LT up front. He's fit and will run the channels so, in theory, a good combo with the hold-up play of Promise (and Martin) but he's just too lightweight to play striker IMO. As for Promise, he looks a proper handful. Should've (and nearly did) scored but his overall game was good. Strikes me as the type that will prosper with a run of games and a few confidence-enducing goals. It wasn't pretty today but ultimately got the job done. Happy to break the opening day hoodoo, too. I agree with Hugo - I think we'll be the type of team, with our fitness levels, that will hit more form 10-15 games in when we've gelled. UTG 500k on a promise is much better than 900k on JCH on the way down . At some point very soon others will admit that as well 😉

Well, that was something! Our Rovers sure do love making us wait. Was quite an indifferent performance but as common sense suggests, we have a lot of new players who are going to take time to gel but still managed to grind out the result which is fantastic. In terms of standouts today it has to be said James Wilson was a rock at the back today but I’m sure he’ll have tougher days at the office this season. Mola looked very solid and good when getting a chance to play with the ball. Not understanding the love in with Moore, thought he was very sloppy with the ball and didn’t look convincing apart from the tracking back tackle which in fairness was a cracker, game was crying out for Senior or a flying left back, Moore didn’t cross the halfway line to any great affect. Omochere looked good and bodes well for when he’s fully fit and of course the goalscorer himself, Bilongo, thought he had a really steady game, a couple of questionable moments but nice to have someone with that kind of pace and willingness to drive at defenders.
Bloody cracking atmosphere as well, enjoyed that one. On to Cardiff, UTG!

Poor game but a good atmosphere.
We need another striker and quick time. Promise did well up top on his own and if he had a good foil alongside him then we'll see more of his game. You can tell we're not confident down the left side of our team as everything is funnelling though the right channel even when there was a good opportunity to break on the left. There's no confidence where Bilbongo was for most of the game.
Moore was excellent, as was Conteh and Thomas (who I think is wasted in the RWB role btw)
Hutchinson looks a mile off a L1 footballer at the moment and Ward was poor. First touches, passing and tacking were awful from them.
Rest not mentioned were average input throughout the game.
I thought that Forbes changed the game in the last 10 minutes along with Senior. It seemed to bring the midfield back to life and we created some good openings with LMc and Bilbongo making the runs.
Best part about today though was absolutely 💩housing Brady. 👍🏻
A decent start even if we didn't fully deserve it.

Deserved to win today. JUST.
SHOTS. BRFC 12 v 6 NTFC.
SHOTS OT. BRFC 5 v 1 NTFC.
TOUCHES IN BOX. BRFC 22 v 14 NTFC.
Stats only give a partial picture. Two superb goal saving challenges by Taylor Moore. Promise a real handful and close to scoring. Bryant a surprise package. Depth in midfield turned the game.

Will Martin's suspension be over after the Cardiff game? He's been injured over pre season though, so will be fit?

Thomas (who I think is wasted in the RWB role btw) I agree, though I am not sure where else he can play with this new formation. We could try him in attacking centre mid, but Sinclair didn't seem to grasp that role today. It's frustrating given how much I rate them both, particularly Thomas.
