What a signing this appears to be already. Good interview too.

Because at the moment he’s all energy enthusiasm and rash decision making. Losing possession as often as he retains it. Rotherham will have eaten him alive. At least he gets possession in the final third to lose it, the other midfielders never manage that, MT has got to find a way to get us more possession in the final third, as we're not going to draw every game 0-0. But we haven't drawn every game 0-0.

I really enjoyed elements of the performance yesterday. We rode our luck at times without a doubt, with RU hitting the frame of the goal and Griffiths pulling off 2 or 3 saves that would appear in any top level GKs highlight reel had they made them.
We defended as a unit against an opposition who we would have crumbled against previously. RU were direct but we stood firm.
The challenge now is to add some more quality in possession and to keep the ball in the final 3rd. Promise doesn’t look particularly comfortable with his back to goal and our other attacking players struggled to keep the ball up the pitch. I thought, whilst we defended admirably for the last 10 minutes or so, we were so sloppy in possession in that period. I don’t think we put 3 passes together past the 80th minute mark.
A very good point against a side who will take lots of wins at home this season and be right up there in the mix.

An excellent point against tough opposition away from home. A combination of good defending, great goalkeeping, and a bit of luck helped us keep another clean sheet.
Being honest, if the opposing team has that many shots, chances, balls into our box etc, more often than not they're going to score. We'll need to improve, but second game against a team fancied to challenge for promotion, we'll definitely take a point.
Defence were excellent, and when they did create chances they couldn't beat an inspired Griffith's.
Room for improvement for sure, but at least it looks like we'e building off solid foundations for a change.

Sadly missed the game completely but this is an excellent point. We have an awful record there, as will most teams this season.
The best teams are built on a good defence. Hopefully a couple more signings up top and we can be quite excited

Two good interviews. MT, very honest and clear about the game and appears far more comfortable with his players than he did before. Was good to hear him talk about what’s needed. As for CM, he’s become a calm and important member of the defence and has started to make some good partnerships. Long way to go but good early signs.
UTG!

Tuesday a really good opportunity to get some fringe players and returning players involved. Need some goals and chances for confidence too. I’d go for something like…
Griffiths Senior Taylor Forbes Sousa Lindsay Lawrence Garrett Shaw Sotirou Martin

Maybe a game like this to see if he still wants to play for the shirt? Otherwise I think you have a good team there, maybe Hall in goal? UTG

Unless Brown has a deal set up I assume he does want to play, just that MT has decided he wants to move him on.
I'm not really sure McCormick running around like a headless chicken is anymore effective than Brown's laid-back approach.

Bit early perhaps to start the Stockport MDT or even build up but, like when we beat Poxford in an early kickoff in August 2022, we could go top of the league on Saturday lunchtime 😳

I'm not really sure McCormick running around like a headless chicken is anymore effective than Brown's laid-back approach. A player running and trying is much better than a player putting in zero effort. While neither may be effective, one is at least showing his team and supporters that he gives a sh** and isn't therefore a negative drag on the team.

A couple of times McCormick chased down their keeper and his only option was to kick for touch. That is some good contribution. He was also in the right place at the right time to put the ball into the back of the net, it took a bit of a bobble at the time he hit it unfortunately. However, his pace got him there.

Yeah he’s done very well in friendlies and what amounted to a friendly v Cardiffs reserves in a pretty meaningless cup (so far). He’s looked good but that’s a million miles away from the heat of a league 1 game against seriously physical and direct opponents. Not sure what you think he’d bring to that? In one sentence, you say "he`s done very well", and in another, you say "he loses possession as often as he retains it." Can`t be both, surely? As for what he could bring to a league game, we won`t know until he`s given a chance. Personally, ( from what I `ve seen ) I think he`s earned the chance to be at least part of the match day squad.

The more you watch it the worse that miss looks, it looks like he had all the time in the world to place his shot but he simply blasted it over. It would be interesting to know how many similar chances he's missed since he scored at Charlton.

Of course it can be both. He’s 17! He’s done really well in PRE SEASON in games that are wid open and played at half pace. However he’s still (as expected) very erratic and makes erratic decisions and loses possession often either through decision making or physicality. Hes gonna be just fine but he’s miles off a league game right now.

The way to help a player to become their best is to out them on a public forum. Should do their confidence the world of good.
