O'Donker will be cover for Omochere, so I wish both of the all the best for a successful season. We spent over a million on transfer fees, so you would expect to see an improvement this season, but fans are forgetting that sky paid an additional 61 million to the EFL,for additional live coverage this season, that works out as an average of over 800,000 per club, Championship clubs will get a bigger cut, but it does mean that all league clubs will have more money, some may use it to pay off debts others to spend more on the squad, so although we have spent more money, things are relative and some of our competitors will have done the same. Maybe, maybe not. With Wycombe offering over half a million and even Crawley offering 6 figure sums for players, we still might not stay up. The worth of a regular goalscorer cannot be underestimated and thats why they usually cost ££s unless you have a decent scouting network which I doubt we have...yet! That is what I am saying, we have spent more money but so have other clubs, after their increased income from sky tv, it pushes up the value of a players.

If Martin hadn't got injured this would've been a perfectly acceptable addition, now though let's hope we can strike it lucky in the free agent market again.
Welcome to the Gas Gatlin, hope you have an extremely successful loan spell!

So last season, our league goalscorers were Martin - 16 Evans - 6 Thomas - 5 Marquis - 4 Collins - 3 Hunt -3 Total 52. Basically an after the deadline signing kept us up. Are we worse off this year? I'd expect a more equal distribution of goals but would hope to see (even without any more signings) chipping in with 3. Need to create more. Think we have enough goals in the team to surpass 52. Martin - 12 Omochere - 14 Soturiou - 7 Hutch - 7 O'Donkor - 6 Thomas - 4 Sinclair - 2 Shaw - 9 Bilongo 4 Moore 2 Ward 2 Garrett 2

I don’t think he’ll get more than 8.

No disrespect to anyone or anything but I honestly thought we could do o better in 2 transfer windows.
We have to replace Evans and Collins goals, engine, vitality and creativity.
I just don't see it yet.

People commenting about posters whinging regarding this signing don't understand football. If you don't have strikers that can score goals you get relegated. We currently have less than 20 goals scored last season in league one between our fit strikers. That will get you relegated. It's happened to us far too many times before that I care to remember. It doesn't matter how good our backline is if we dont get a proven goalscorer through the door we get relegated. So it's not people whinging it's people worrying about history repeating itself. Completely disagree. If you really understand football and have played it extensively then you know this: Football is not about individuals Your form with one club does not dictate your format the next Your form is dictated by the players around you,the chemistry, being on the same wavelength as each other. That goes both ways Different relationships with different coaches brings different results in terms of your form and development as a player. Again that can work both ways good and bad. Just because a player is yet to produce, just because a player comes with a good reputation, things can change. No doubt many can share experiences where they have partnered a player and it’s like you can read each others minds…sometimes you wonder if your team mate comes from another planet! Know football. Fortunately Matt Taylor and his coaching team know more than any of us on this forum.

I really hope he smashes it but I don’t like this at all. If he’s excellent he slots straight back in at Oxford & we’ve ONCE AGAIN developed another clubs talent. If he flops, we’ve sold ourselves short on a loan player. We've basically signed Oxford's equivalent of Greenslades! We may as well have kept him for another season to see if he could make the grade. I thought that's what we kept Shaw for ... I'm not as disappointed as some with this loan signing ...

There is a difference between understanding what you have said and giving a new player a terrible welcome, so it's possible to think we are still light up top and not react in such a negative way. Morale matters in this game and when Gasheads are behind the team it really gives us something extra. The problem is we seem too quick to get despondent. If we give MT and the new signings time to bed in and show our full support, things are more likely to go well.

Nothing has happened today to surprise me. Underwhelmed certainly. Lack of goals and overall pace will mean a desperate fight against relegation on the cards.Heart says 16th but head says 21st. Even without losing Martin we were desperate for someone who knows where the net is.

Within 15 minutes of watching Ryan loft on his debut I couldn't believe how poor a footballer he was at all the basics and I was proved right, so I shall reserve judgement until I've seen gatlin in the quarters. I'm just extremely underwhelmed on paper with the signing and think it's dangerous to sign someone unproven at scoring goals at this level when we are struggling to score at the minute at all. Especially when our top scorer is out and realistically won't be fully fit until January at the earliest. But prove me wrong gatlin and bag us the 3 points tomorrow!!!

Even without losing Martin we were desperate for someone who knows where the net is. If we get relegated on spending close to £1.2 mil and 16 signings. Then the status quo on this occasion can't be blamed. That's not to mention the big fees for buying up players contracts like Lindsay.

Give him 15 mins to make your mind up. Good to see you won't be rushing to judge the young lad.
