You lot worry me this will never happen so why all the views and moaning. This is the Pirates nothing ever happens just a lot of talk. Well we’re a quarter of the way there. 1 down 3 to go. It’ll probably take 10 years or so to complete if it does happen mind. Although I’d rather we just left the thatchers as terrace or safe standing if possible. I hate sitting down at a football match.

Really hope it looks nothing like that!! That's pretty much exactly how I expected it to look, based on comments from the owner about what will and won't be done, observation of our limited finances and planning difficulties. What "limited finances"? When only a handful of L1 teams have spent more on transfer fees this summer the SwissGas/Pirate rhetoric that we have no money seems nonsense. Assuming student flats still form part of the redevelopment can you honestly see they'll just build them alongside the present stands, rather than as part of the redevelopmentm

Owners a bit like you then, just talk the talk. At least I occasionally post something positive about the club I support, why not try it yourself it might cheer you up.

Didn't the figure of £35m get quoted for Mem redevelopment and Quarters upgrade? Part funded by selling some land at the Quarters. That's a decent wedge to do this.

Yes it did get quoted but I can't remember if that was a rumour on here or some kind of fact. I don't remember the owner actually saying that. Still, it's all conjecture. Rebuild, renovation, student flats, and I'm just conjecturing as well!

Well if they are demolishing the East stand I hope they build something a bit classier than the south stand.

There was no mention of the students flats at that meeting so it's anybody's guess whether that figure is still accurate or not. Perhaps that's where the additional funding is coming from above the money from the quarters, although I sense we're years away from getting that included on S Glos housing plans and then being able to sell the land to a developer.

And it that meeting they also said they would be keeping the existing East stand but just enlarging it and adapting it.

No they didn't, this is what I posted following the meeting: "Unfortunately nobody asked what type of development we should expect for the East Stand but apparently the car park will be out of use when work starts, so it sounds like some major work will be taking place" Gasify responded with: "They did ask about the East Stand but was given a candid answer "It will look very different to what it looks like"

It’s more about using the guts of the east stand I think. Extend, add boxes and build student flats off the back of it with some car park still underneath. Then the thatchers end will be built up from the stands housing the fan zone and superstore inside.
West stand still tricky to change due to residents so not in their plans currently, I imagine some extension of the south stand into the west terrace could happen.
Conjecture of course. Would be nice to see plans soon though.

Maybe my memory is playing tricks on me!

'I will believe it when I'm sat in it',is the refrain. 'Be patient' I was told in 1965. When we were asked to choose our seats at Cheltenham for two years whilst the Mem was rebuilt,Lenny Lawrence was asked why the Mem hadn't been demolished come June ready for the New build and said something like ,'the players need somewhere to meet on Match Days. When UWE was promised we had a group setting up a webcam so we could watch the building progress. Geoff Dunford told us at an Open Day that the Dribuild stand was being extended the full length of the pitch and around where the south tent was. Amazingly though at 78 I am excited something may still happen and positive vibes abound but It's the hope that frustrates you. I lived in Staffs when Stoke's Victoria ground was demolished in 1997 and the Britannia Stadium rose like a phoenix a short distance away so I have seen it happen. Also saw us win twice there!!!!!! Sad thing is that Stoke City’s Victoria Ground that they deemed not fit for purpose is a whole lot better than what we have now, 27 years later!
