And they say you can't polish a turd. Well the owners have given the lie to that one. You could roll it in glitter...

It’s all a bit quiet. I’d have expected news of some form by now.

I see the Old Trafford first artist impressions have been released...no likely will cost well over a Billion to build... Any danger we could see what the club has planned with the Mem? 100,000 New Trafford and a scaled down Old Trafford to 30,000 for the women’s team. Meanwhile in Horfield Bristol … 😴

Can you really see the club discussing the plans with the planners and also holding meetings with the local residents, only to then forget about their plans? Not sure the owners are going to announce the plans until they are ready just to keep a few forums members happy, that's hardly the work of a professional organisation.

Either that, or of course, there is nothing to announce. Which is more likely? If the months roll on and on and on without even an announcement of what the plans are, let alone getting planning permission, finance and building the thing, then perhaps it's only natural for some of us to feel a little sceptical about it happening any time in the next 5 or even 10 years.

My point was more how is it a billion pound project can be made public, but yet little old Rovers just trying to build a 17k seater stadium on land already owned, you get nothing. Perhaps the owners would get more support if things weren't so secretive.

I think they were burned by the south stand mess being announced and trumpeted as being ready for the new season when they hadnt even started the planning process yet! An update of sorts was given at the fans forum

This just the build time not including planning which will take for ever

Unless there are plans elsewhere I have not seen, their plans don't show a lot at this stage and are likely to change. I would rather wait until we have something a bit more to show. Than show something that means nothing, as it's likely to change.

The recent history of our club (post Higgs) is that nothing is ever said when nothing is happening, UWE no communication except 'these things take time' for over a year before we learned it wasn't happening. Exactly the same with the Fruit Market only it was an even longer silence. Then it was suddenly the opposite with the South Stand, we have plans and then it was built even before planning permission was given! Now its back to the long silence again. The club doesn't communicate when nothing is happening, not even a vision for us to get excited about, and that will most likely be because there is NOTHING going on.

They didn't really communicate with the South Stand if you look back on it. Was built in the November. We got to use it for the first time in the following Jan and that was a real last minute decision. There wasn't much discussed between Nov and Jan.

Would be gutted if it is prefabricated but think that’s what we’ll get if anything happens at all.

My guess is that the owners' idea of somehow using the existing East Stand structure and building onto it, has hit so many technical snags and possibly Council disapproval, that they have had to go back to the drawing board. Most Rovers' fans know that the current East Stand needs to be totally demolished and replaced, probably that is what the planners recommend too.

Its a bit of an eyesore and not big enough but does have the best views in the stadium. I hope any new build doesnt reduce that

Depends if you’re building or putting together a prefabricated stadium. Would be gutted if it is prefabricated but think that’s what we’ll get if anything happens at all. I think a lot depends for me if it's a stepping stone. I keep saying it but the current situation with the South Stand is only really acceptable with a significant investment in a permanent structure on either the East or West side. AFC Wimbledon have gone down a similar path with three prefabricated stands and one permanent structure while they look to raise the funds to complete the stadium. We shall see. I'm tired.

The South stand is ok and a lot better than the previous one but so many seats are restricted viewing due to the pillars and some in the corner behind the double pillars are unusable.
