I can’t believe we got a player in shaw who’s only 17 and I believe in a few years or even by the summer will be sold for millions is already being labelled lazy by our own fans when he did more running in 20 mins then Macca did for a whole 70 mins. Maccas contribution is the same as Jevani's, next to nothing. Summed it up on Sat when he put a 'cross' behind for a goal kick under zero pressure. What I don't understand is Macca gets gametime and Jevani is frozen out in pre-season then sent on loan. Both need to get gone.

I would actually say Brown better player then Macca as well apart from run around aimlessly which even then he didn’t do yesterday browns actually got a bit of technical ability.

As for McCormick, it's a struggle to see why he gets game time. Kofi should start. UTFG 🏴☠️

After wards performance Saturday and McCormicks the midfield 3 should be Garrett, conteh with Shaw ahead of them Saturday. Give the boy a chance in that attacking midfield role.

So what position is Shaw? In these two pages I’ve seen it suggested he should play right wing, in one of the two deeper midfield positions and now as an attacking midfielder

Fear he is being built up too much as he is one of our own. Just hope the management know what they are doing and he can fully develop into a very good player.

A couple of his passes looked really good against Barnsley - direct, accurate and to the players feet.
He could be good as an attacking midfielder working the ball through the defence.

Cant say ive been impressed with the people chosen ahead of him so far. I was watching him immediately after the Cambridge match. Even though we won he looked gutted, presumably as he didnt get on

I will place my trust in the management team (professional coaches and ex professional players) to know how to manage Shaw and when it’s appropriate to put him in the starting XI. I share your concern and the pressure and expectation of fans is getting ramped up based on him being homegrown rather than knowledge of his ability as a player. It seems plenty calling for him to start don’t even know what position he plays. I guess that will be spun as slagging off our youngsters - it’s not as I’m sure we all want a new Marcus Stewart quality player to come through but I want him managed properly and carefully. For all we know he may have all the technical and physical attributes to start games but maybe not the maturity? Who knows - the manager and coaching team maybe?

I hope he gets a few games this season but we do seem to over hype young players.
In the last 25 odd years, there have been Charlie Clough, Josh Low, Shaq Hunter, even to an extent Jones last few seasons.
At that age there are all manor of distractions; girls, mates, agents, girls, money, cars girls, plus they have to develop physically and tactically.
Ollie Clarke had two injuries before he was 21 that would have ended his career if he was playing in the same era as Wayne Jones, Andrew Evans, or Wayne Noble. With an extra yard of pace how good could he have been?
Hunter was one of the best young players I saw at the club, but being protected by refs at youth level was not a blessing in disguise, as 5 minutes v Guy Branston in a meaningful match and run ins with the management killed his career.
Shaw is bound to make mistakes. He and his mates might read social media comments, so as fans we should maybe take a few seconds to pause before our post match out pouring of witch hunting.
I find reading the post match thread up to 6 pm on a Saturday after a defeat seems like the end of the world!
I see this season is a transition, with some highs, many lows, and a lot of average, but we are slowly planning to challenge in the next two seasons.
If Shaw gets 10-15 first team appearances this season and develops well, it is going to be exciting watching him next season - he might not be here the next.
Good luck to the lad.

I see Kameron Muir came on for Notts County against Burton (in place of Jevani). Only turned 15 last month. Age is just a number...

I think most fans are savvy enough not to expect too much too soon from the youngsters

That, for me personally should be the line in the sand.

Positionally, I think Shaw has potential to be a bit like Gary Penrice who at times was a striker in a front 2, complementing Devon White, other times a creative-midfielder. He has a looooong way to go through.

He deserves a shot and has lots of potential but chucking him into games right now with the club underperforming only exposing him to potential abuse and criticism. The manager needs to guide him into the squad and help his career. Personally, I would be using him as a substitute and building him up. That’s just my opinion and I’m not a coach so take it with a pinch of salt.
