A win is a win, and that was much needed. Felt like we started our best 11 and they played pretty well as a unit, the subs were just scary though. I felt nervous the minute the shirts started to come off as could see it was a big roll of the dice. Def a change too far that hopefully all will learn from. The 5 subs thing really does allow for recklessness at times!

What a difference a few days can make. Still lots to work on but that's exactly the type of performance the supporters will get behind. We've pressed forced them into errors and been positive when we've won possession. Off the back of that we've scored 3 very good goals. I can kind of understand the thinking behind the subs particularly with a few of the starting 11 still searching for full fitness but the changes seemed to suck the life out of us, from being pretty dominant we've ended up with a nervous few mins when the game should never have got to that stage. Having said that lots of positives to take, hopefully we can follow tonight up with another similar performance at Burton just minus the nervous ending.

Enjoyed that ! Best home performance in a long time , starting 11 all very good . Slightly lost our way in the last few mins but that shouldn’t take the gloss off an excellent performance.
Taylor knew he needed a win tonight and I’m happy he got it. UTFG!

Sorry, but Taylor has lost the plot. Our best home performance of the season, 3-0 up with 20 minutes to play, totally in charge, so he makes five changes and completely loses the team shape. The man is a liability and the quicker he goes the better. We had the game in the bag with some fine shifts for Sinclair, Hunt, Mila and Bilongo and a solid defence and we could have so easily come away with nothing.

Just got back..
A lovely backdrop of a fantastic sunset set up the initial approach to the Mem with the team news...was it going to be a sundown on MT Gas future? Or, something more optimistic on the horizon?
Either way, the temperature's dropping at Mem these days, much like the attendance.
Anyhoos, onto less important things.... Well well well, start a balanced team with everyone in their correct positions, it might just help in the quest to be a competitive team in this division?
A high press, physical encounter saw us dominate the first half hour and when Scotty curled in an exquisite strike worthy of the admission fee alone, we were well on our way. Rolling back the years.
Dominant on flanks, especially Bilongo and my fav Mola, we were looking the business. Much to the frustrations of NJ on the touchline... everything seemed to be going against him.
Yet they did find out how frail our defence is, they carved out one very decent chance headed along the roof of net and warning signs were there.
Second half we carried on our pressures.... really liked Promise contributions of him physically challenging the mountains around him, but another beautiful finish by Lindsay found us 2-0 up and cruising.....then, 3? Delicious one touch move cross and Willo, captain by that time, knocks it in....game over, right?
Hmmmmm. Not in MT world it isn't..
The subs were baffling and again contributed to chaos and confusion....I get the need to rest and manage game time, but at the detriment of potentially throwing away a fantastic win and excellent game management and goals, for what?
We almost threw it all away. Because of the unforced errors. No clean sheet. Confidence built, broke.
Which is a shame on MT choice of substitution timings and how much it affected game....this will of course court controversy. And not add any endearing thoughts his way because it's hardly inspiring, it appears wreckless and almost disrespectful.
Anyways, we won. Credit for that.
Credit too for the travelling Charlton fans. They made some noise, I did chuckle at their 'we had a shot' song! Well done them for the journey. Well done NJ for almost orchestrating a remarkable come back point or points.... sometimes we just make it difficult on ourselves for no apparent reason.
And together with playing no sub goalie, one day it's going to come back to bite us if MT doesn't learn lessons...lucky today... toxic tomorrow.

We are really in the worst of positions, even after a great win.
Stick or twist? Valid points on both sides. Even after a win, the fan base is divided !
Difficult times.

Listening to Radio Bristol on the way home I thought it was a very honest interview by Matt Taylor. I get that most of you have turned into Judge Judy and Executioner already, but there is still a part of me (quite a lot of me actually) that desperately wants him to succeed.
Best 75 minutes of football this season without a doubt, kudos to Sinclair, Hunt, Lindsay, Bilongo, Mola and especially Wilson, who was my MOTM by a distance.
I’d make one change on Saturday, Taylor Moore’s suspension is over so I’d bring him in for Conor Taylor, who still seems short of confidence and always has an error in him. Like others have said, we didn’t need 5 subs today, 3 at most would’ve sufficed.

It took both Garrett and McCormick just over 10 minutes to have their first touch of the ball after coming on.
In total they had 8 accurate passes and 16 touches of the ball BETWEEN THEM in over 20 mins of football. Seeing out a game neither of them made a tackle or a challenge on the floor or the air.
O’Donker and Forde weren’t a lot better.
Mind you that’s nothing compared to Ruel who played as a No 10 in a 3-0 scoreline at home for 70 mins and completed TWO passes from 5 attempts!!! How he stayed on is beyond me.

Just got home and caught up on the thread.
I thought the starting 11 played their hearts out this evening and I was very proud of them
We set up to move the ball forward, that was obvious from the second minute with Billongo making a terrific run forward, setting the intent for the game.
Three great goals. I loves a goal, two worldies and a great bit of individual skill from Wilson to nod home for the third.
Then the substitutions. Hunt had to come off if there was going to be a chance that he starts on Saturday. Same for Sincs, he seemed to play just behind the front two and was constantly running behind the front two. That free role really suited him. Taking him off early might just allow him to start on Saturday. Same for Lindsey.
I'm not sure I would've taken off Promise and Sotiriou as I thought they were both having a good games.
Forde and Odonkor couldn't really get into the game when they came on.
All in all, I thought all players played for the shirt and put in good performances.
It we play like that on Saturday, there is a good chance of another three point.

Two memorable moments of this fixture.
1. Last action of the first half. Free kick to CAFC.
How many long paces did the referee take?
It looked like he was enjoying a step class.
2. Early second half free kick to us on the left touchline.
The referee seemed to count to ten.
This time the steps were unbelievably short.
Why? It would be funny if it wasn't true. Both moments were not helpful to us.

Best performance of the season so far.
Fair play to Taylor for picking what I think is our best starting 11 on paper. 3 points was a must tonight, he’s nearly terrorised us at the end with some questionable subs!

10 substitutions in last 2 matches and we have conceded 4 goals afterwards. Needless in my opinion

Much better tonight but far from brilliant and a long way to go to get to where we all want to be. We were the better team (Charlton very poor and their manager won’t last long either by the sounds of it!) and two superb strikes really decided this game. Very nervy at the end - have to protect someone like Hunt with his recent record for muscle injuries and understandable to bring on the running legs of someone like,McCormack but five changes and the disruption it causes was way too much of a risk but MT got away with it.
Hunt was my mom. Superb and clever passing in the final third and some great defensive work. I hope he’s fit for Saturday and on a regular basis going forward.
One game doesn’t change my view that MT is a poor manager and I’d be amazed if he’s still here in a months time. Anyway, three welcome points and let’s see how we get on Saturday

Brilliant 60 mins of football well done lads, then the manager makes 5 subs ? I understand the promise and possibly Hunt substitutions but the rest ? This manger is a real liability, he’s either got a massive ego issue or is tactically inept. Still , we won and a much needed 3 points. What's that got to do with making subs? They are made because players are tiring and he needs to try and get the subs performing to a decent level by giving them game time. That’s two posts right next to each other where you contradict yourself. Do you just argue with everyone for the sake of it?

Staggered at the negativity in this thread.
We played excellently for 70 minutes. We were intense, there was a lot more passion, pace and energy and the team spirit was clear to see all over the pitch.
I thought Hunt made a massive difference and him, Wilson and Sinclair led the team on the front foot from the first minute.
Absolutely the subs were an error and it was also fairly obvious that what happened might happen before it did happen. Clearly this is a disappointment and took the gloss off the win to some extent.
However, the first 70 minutes needs to be the headline and we move on to Saturday with a great opportunity to build and move forward.
Unlike some, I’d love Taylor to succeed and hope this is the turning point.

Every fan WANTS the manager to succeed just because they criticise him or think he’s not doing very well doesn’t mean they WANT him to fail. What a daft thing to say
