So we have 13 points after 10 games.
We have only had more points after ten games, twice in the last 12 years and one of those years was in non-league!
Barton never had that many points after ten games, even when we were in League 2. DC never had that many points after ten games in League 2 or league 1.
So, has this season been as bad as make are saying? If you take out September, we would be flying🤣.
In August and October 4 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat. 4 defeats out of 4 in September!
Still a lot of work to do, but not as bad as many are making out.

Pretty certain MT was agreeing it was bad himself before this weeks 6 pts, you do wonder if Charlton were more concerned about playing Birmingham today than Rovers on Tuesday, which might explain why they were so poor. Huddersfield in a couple of weeks will be a sterner test.

I think we will end the season having wins, losses and draws fairly evenly distributed.
Our best midfielder by a mile doesn't seem likely to play enough to allow us to be anything other than average this season.

This league is so tight from 5-18th. 2 wins from being top 6 2 losses from being in the bottom 4.
It's proper bipolar in terms of we'll be ok one week but going down the next.
So far, as has been pointed out, we're in better nick in terms of points on the board than we have been in the last few years after 10 games.
What would be proper funny if MT took us on a bit of a run of wins right after the boo boys wanted him out at Wycombe and turned up to chant again last Tuesday.

Think we’re doing as well as predicted by most ……sort of ok-ish after 10 games. Hopefully the pant wetters will chill now even if we lose the next game.

One of those crap teams beat Birmingham today and limited them to 3 shots. We scored that many goals against them. You can only beat what's in front of you.

I said that we're probably a squad capable of being 12-16th this year based on how many new players there are, how long it takes to gel the squad and also given we have some proper money bags in this division which we can't compete with.
So far, it's proving to be about accurate.

Have a grump if they lose , as is your right but give a little leeway. Midtable in a very competitive league would be a good result in my book.

Not even 2 swallows make a summer. Burton not won all season. 11 v 8 to kill the game. He be gone by Crimbo.

You’ve got to beat the crap and pick up a few other points here and there to stay above the crap and so far we’re doing that. League 1 is mostly strong this season with a handful of crap sides and occasionally we’ll come up against a decent side in poor form and we’ll need to make the most of that too. I thought we’d finish around where we did last season and it’s looking likely and I’d take that now with a young squad

Wycombe weren't brilliant and didn't deserve to beat us 2-1. Love to see MT have a 4/5 game win run just to settle everything down.

In the old days, we would've complained that they didn't attack with a 3 player advantage.

So far, it's proving to be about accurate. Averaging 1.3 points per game so far, which equates to 60pts over 46 games. Last season we finished 14th with 57 points. In 22/23 we finished 17th with 53 points. Over the last ten years in L1, 60 points gets you an average finish of 13.2. We are an average team producing average results. I’m also not buying the weird logic of ‘we only beat the crap teams’… well duh! We’re better than the crop but worse than the cream. I fully expect us to beat Northampton, Cambridge and Burton (Charlton a nice minor anomaly). I expect us to lose to Peterborough, Stockport and Barnsley. Come on lads, let’s have a little perspective ffs. I would take 60 points and 13th right now if offered it. And most of you would too.

Going back to the OP , I think you can get a distorted view of good starts when comparing seasons . In those past ones we may well have been playing the majority v better sides , and
lets face it you play 23 other teams in all , not 10. As I said teams we played on the day this season and won have been awful . Charlton perhaps the ones having a one off.
I do get you can only beat whats in front of you , and our performances are moving in the right direction , which is why Im looking forward to how we fare from here .
The Charlton victory did impress me mostly because MT and the players were on the ropes before kick off , the negativity was huge , yet they pulled off the win and a decent performance imo.
One thing looks clear 10 games in , there definatly is at least 4 teams worst than us. And as they say its not where you are in October , but where you are in May that matters.

For me it's really only the Wigan game that was unacceptable. We're also scoring goals from all over the pitch. The players are putting a shift in. Would like to see a bit more passion from Taylor but happy to give him time.

Nice research, o p ...
I still think we've had a disproportionately harder start to the season, in each match contemporary terms.
So a decent start in comparison to the arbitrary 12 years.... don't know why the op randomly chose 12?....sets us up a bit.
Much like 17 other clubs, we can look on play offs just a 3 point gap away and think it's there to be won...
