Fed up with reading how “Charlton can’t have been crap because they beat Birmingham”!!
Teams can play crap without being crap every week!!
Against us Charlton put on one of the worst displays they could have possibly have mustered. They were dire. Look at the post match interview from Nathen Jones. Did he start making comments about “the game tells the truth”, “some of these payers shouldn’t even be training with us”, “this should tell the people watching where this squads at”?
No he took it on the chin himself, went away and in the space of 4 days he managed to take the same group of players to Birmingham and took 3 points.
THATS MANAGING.
Teams will have bad results and poor performances.
We were no worse Tuesday than we were v Wigan. Did the manager talk the same way? No, because it didn’t suit his agenda to do so.
Why did he feel the need to make such damning remarks clearly aimed at certain people regarding certain players when the very same players from Tuesday did just fine in the game v Tottenham…in fact he was glowing that night….
As culpable on Tuesday were players like Taylor and Moore but they’ve escaped criticism from fans and the media and most definitely won’t be the ones missing from any squad at Huddersfield.
Same as players like Bilongo, Sousa, Donker and Promise who were in no way any better and in many ways worse than the likes of Shaw, Hutchinson, McCormick and Garrett.
Players have bad nights. Teams have bad nights. Football throws up odd scorelines and odd performances from time to time and unless they become the norm you just have to take it on the chin and move on.
Many of those players that Taylor is clearly referring to have made good contributions to league 1 games this season. Hutchinson played a hefty portion of minutes in 4 points and two clean sheets, Maca has come off the bench and made impacts, Garrett contributed to 3 points v Cambridge (manager was glowing after!), Thomas was excellent in the Barnsley game, he’s been waxing lyrical about Shaw (too early imo) until Tuesday….
To write them off after a poor night in a meaningless game that just went wrong in 30 horrible minutes where every single player was as culpable as the other and the manager didn’t cover himself in glory either is just nonsense and demonstrates to me beyond all else that Matt Taylor is a) clueless b) out of his depth and panicking c)has a serious agenda against someone which is leading him to protect above all else….himself.
The telling quote for me was “the game tells the truth”.
Yes it does Matt. It’s told the truth 20 times in the last 35 games and it’s told us we’ve lost and weren’t good enough.
Maybe it’s you?
