He's only scored 4 for Braintree in the league this season. Did you watch him tonight? Anyone who did and didn't get a bit excited by him must be comatosed. Is quality just about goals scored? I bet he could create a lot of chances / space through his sheer pace and touch.

Anyone else give a sigh of relief when he had to go off, well worth keeping tabs on I gave a sigh of relief when he had cramp and went off... Then I realised that was mensah! Mensah looked good as well. Is that the same mensah who was at Barnet earlier in the season? I realise it's quite a common Ghanian name.

Yes i did get excited by him he was quality tonight, but given the choice who would you have him or Dawson ? or both... (now that would be an interesting combination with the beard & mans in the middle ! )

Phew, sad about the Dawson yellow, but worth it for the win I'd say! I'm more concerned about the Mansell yellow - puts him on 9, 1 away from a two match ban

Dictates play a lot of the time and is a natural leader.

If Sinclair and Clarke are back fit, then we could possibly get by for one match without Manse, but right now he is vital. When's the cut-off for the bookings, or isn't there one?
Also, it's interesting reading the difference of opinions on who changed yesterday's game. Was it Balanta? Was it Ellis? Was it Dawson? No doubt they all had a big part to play but as far as credit is due, there's one guy who was on for the full 90, clearly not fully fit. Who won the penalty? Who stuck it away? Who provided the assist for the winning goal? The answer to all these questions is of course, Matty Taylor. Even though he takes a load of flak because his finishing is the weakest part of his game, he never goes missing, gives his all for the cause and keeps making vital contributions, without which we would not be top of the league.

OK, so i bet Torquay fans reckon they had seen a top player for this level when Gosling played against them.
John Gregory reckoned he'd seen a top player when Matt Harrold played against them. His subsequent spell at Crawley was a bit of a disaster.
I can remember Jo Kuffour being by far the best player on the pitch when Bournemouth came to our place a few seasons ago. We signed him a few months later. He rarely got anywhere near that performance level in the quarters.
Dave Martin looked very good for this level in his first couple of games for us. We ended up sending him home early.
If this guy was capable of playing like this week in week out, he wouldn't be playing for Braintree. It is possible he has the talent and can learn the consistency through good coaching but the moral of the story is that you don't sign a player based on one decent performance against you.

Good points but totally disagree with this : I can remember Jo Kuffour being by far the best player on the pitch when Bournemouth came to our place a few seasons ago. We signed him a few months later. He rarely got anywhere near that performance level in the quarters.

I was asking a genuine question of whether you saw the game, and then posing some general comments / questions for people to think about. it's the internet mate, people seem to read things that don;t exist.

It is technically the 2nd sunday in April (inclusive) - i.e. 11.59pm on 11th April It's probably my 'fault' for spreading the 12th April date because explaining the above seemed too complicated, and there are no Monday matches.
