Surprised Walker is getting so much stick - playing very well for Spurs and was arguably our best player in the Euros. Also not quite sure who you'd have ahead of him? Glenn Johnson was called up initially as cover for christ sake! Antonio could play there but he's not a right back, Milner but he's retired, Danny Simpson is a poor man's walker and Rose is so left footed he needs to stay on the left. Only competition is Clyne who is injured but I think walker is the better player.

The step up in class in last night's game, with England facing balkan footballs powerhouse, slovenia, was easy to see. After England managed to overcome their last tough opponents, Malta, in a hard fought 2-0 victory this was a step too far for these multi millionaire premiership stars. Lacking the silky skills of the ten times world cup winners, presently ranked a massive 67 in the FIFA rankings, the players of England could only watch in awe as the Slovenians combined the skills or 'running quickly' with the equally impressive 'passing' and 'shooting on target' combo. An FA representative was quick to point out that these skills will only come when U23s got more game against Fleetwood and Accrington Stanley in the Ceckatrade Trophy. "This is not a quick fix " he said "for too long L1 and L2 clubs have been holding back our best talent" England manager Gareth Southgate joined in "people expecting these lads to play adequately against class international opposition like we've faced in our last two games have clearly not seen these lads play in the Premier League " " the radical free thinking, passing and shooting ability of teams like Malta and Slovenia are things we can only now begin to aspire to. Our players are much more used to their traditional role of falling over, pointing to their girlfriends in the crowd, and congratulating the foreign player when he scores" "the blanket ban on foreign players in the England side is certainly holding us back in international competitions " England's next match is a friendly against Little Snodling-in-the-Marsh blind schools 2nd eleven. "It will be a real test of the lads' said Southgate.

Also not quite sure why we're not starting Rashford. He brings more than the rest of them combined. I like the idea of Lingard Alli Rashford with Kane up top but in reality it'd probably flop as per usual...

Let's not mention Henderson sand Cahill. Dreaded Rooney coming on for the fears it then becomes the Rooney Henderson sideways backwards to each other roadshow going nowhere. Sorry for me an awful performance lastnight showing no progression from the euros. Thank god for the written off Hart. Lalana in for me with Kane and Rashford up top

Not defending them but we won't improve until we have some stability in management.

Well, Lingard and Walcott didn't bring anything to the party. Cahill...yes, there has to be someone better, plus at his age do we expect him to be around in two years time? Nope, he won't be, so what is the point of playing him. The same with Rooney. Walker and Rose play well for Spurs as they have a free licence to attack down the flanks. You put two wide men in front of them, and they cannot do what they do for Spurs. Their space is closed down and they are restricted. Delle Ali....give him a break. Remember he's only twenty.
and why oh why do England players do that thing where they stop moving with the ball, step on the ball to stop it, and then expect to play a decent pass? It's a rare player than can make anything happen when they are stood still with the ball.
I want to meet the coach who instructs players taking corners to pick out the first defender. It is not a skill, nor something to be admired. If they fail to pick out the first defender, they overhit to the far side of the penalty area. FFS, even at my age I could take better corners. I would beat that coach to death.
and why oh why do England continually pass the ball across the back four, only to send it back the other way back to where they started. The commentator said something about England moving the ball to try and find an opening, when in reality it is so easy to defend as you just have to shift a couple of yards across everytime, and then just wait for a mistake, which with England players you just know will come.
When you know the opposition will play just one up top, why oh why do you need a defensive midfield player to protect the back four? Just look at how the Germans lined-up last night against Northern Ireland. They had a full-on attacking midfield, as they assume the back-four should be able to deal with a lone striker.

John Stones is the only certain starter for England for me going forward. All the other places should be up for grabs.

We were lucky to get a draw and the whole team didn't have a clue or a plan,in fact the Icelantic team talk was spot on where he said England think they are better than what they are.Gareth Southgate says he's inherited a mess. After a poor performance the establishment in the guise of the old fart Trevor Brooking says he's should be given the job God forbid. Is this the best we can do? Sack the manager

Sack the manager and the argument goes round in circles.... OK, sack the manager, but who replaces him? Jogi Löw for Germany has never managed a club, yet he has won the World Cup. Ranieri won the Premier League, but he was a disaster as coach of Greece at International level.....just saying.....

Didn't he get South Korea to the World Cup semi-final? Laugh - Ollie - He'd provide motivation and instill pride in the players to play for England. Plus, he'd be as funny as feck.

It strikes me the powers that be are scared after previous successes to make a decision. But the old farts will bring in a yes man who already blames the mess he was left the state of the pitch etc.Not inspired by him Mr Southgate.

I can't understand how he can says he inherited a mess, very odd comment, you inherit a mess if it's at club level and you only have x amount of players to choose from ie: darryl Clarke taking over from jon ward or something similar.. He has the whole country to pick from but decides to blame the previous manager. He did not have to pick them players... Maybe I'm wrong but this was my initial thoughts after hearing southgates views..

It seems rather negative and feels like he is doing a Mr Buckle on us (lowering our expectations).

That was the worst ive seen.... Wouldn't go that far. Iceland game was worse for a start... To be honest, Slovenia aren't actually that bad. They always seem better than I expect them to be every time we play them.

It would seem that England have just found their level, we are an average to below average football team. Another couple of years and we will be behind the likes of Slovenia, we certainly were yesterday. None of them are good enough to be international football players.
