Well it’s two weeks since JB and his coaches joined the Gas
have to say his impending appointment caused no end of mirth to myself with the way this forum carried on and divided for the most part into two camps
so without wishing to open any old or healing wounds but as a way of gauging option what do we think
I’ll start
I was pro-Barton and I still am. I was pleasantly surprised by his persona, he clearly was on a charm offensive which I didn’t need but see the reasons he did it and will I imagine he will still look to do it. I didn’t think he had a magic wand but I do think he would have looked at our first three games under him and thought - that’s 7 points straight away
which obviously hasn’t happened
I believe he has a much better chance of getting us clear than Tisdale did, for whatever reason the squad didn’t respond to him one bit
I think Barton’s press conferences have been very honest, measured, accurate and insightful
do I think he will keep us up ? I think so yes
is the challenge bigger than it was a fortnight ago ?
absolutely

I like the 4 2 3 1. And would keep it. So... Jakolla / Day Little Ehmer Harries Tutonda Upson McCormick Rodman Nicholson Hanlon Daly Annsi has a set back in training last week and is at least a few weeks away. And thus ready for international duty Will be Day for quite a few matches

JB presser is spot on
Basic basic schoolboy errors, the players are generally good enough but we fall asleep in the midst of a game we are more than equal in and give ourselves mountains to climb
Leahy has too much to do with his willingness to bomb forward but yes, yesterday he should have hoofed it to row Z , but the ball still had a bit to do before it nestled the net and Williams and Day are also culpable
And there’s the other issue
We don’t have the tools to climb the mountain in Hanlon IMO
Soon as Ayunga came on the ball STUCK TO HIM
and that is absolutely pivotal in his position
Then you have Daly available and whilst we are at it JB seems more than willing to blood youngsters even now and give opportunities to he likes of Zain Walker, why not bring Phillips in also and at least get him training with the squad , his chance needs to come because JB needs to see if we have a few more hammers to crack this nut, Hanlon ain’t the hammer we need

Im sure i heard our joey commenting he prefers smaller squads . Easier to keep players happy . So i expect more to leave than arrive. Im not going to speculate on individual players livlihoods.Except to say i expect a couple of more experienced players to arrive. You would think that would also align with the overall purse strings , after all we have three managers plus two new assistants to pay for !

Why the hell not be positive and optimistic !
45 pts to play for let’s have it
Surely we deserve a bit of luck and the rub of the green after Wigan and Burton
In Jb we trust

All of the first team coaching staff were in attendance Any ideas on the trialist? Yeh was Joe Ledley

Interesting that a lot of our first team squad got minutes here: Definitely a good thing, can see Hare scored and Walker. Trialist HAS to have been Ledley, judging by a few tweets. Someone asked in the other thread whether JB would have attended or if not as it's a Sunday. I think he may have, as this looks like a good opportunity for him to see some of our fringe players in action ahead of our next fixtures. May of tried different tactics as well perhaps? Be really interesting if these were streamed or filmed for highlights 🤔 All of the first team coaching staff were in attendance

Kicking wasn't great but I'm guessing he got told to put it wide. Shame Williams' header back to him was weak and led to the throw and the red card. Apart from that I think he did fine. Kicking wasn’t great is a bit of an understatement JVS was clearly the last off the production line before the GK union decided to be a footballer you had to have a modicum of talent around at least one FOOT when it’s near the BALL

I’d have preferred another manager but JB is doing his best to integrate himself into the gas family. You can only go on what he does now and on the footballing side and communication side he’s had a very good week. Lots more to do yet but all he can do is be the best he can one day at a time, one match at a time. I may end up with egg on my face but istm that he’s realised that with us he has the opportunity to do more than he could at Fleetwood and he has the chance to create something special without the glass ceiling that Fleetwood's crowds (or rather non-crowd) put in that club. Turn us around and he knows he could achieve a lot more. Hence I hope he will use his talents in all the right ways. He’s our manager now so I’ll get behind him and support him. In the end it’s about BRFC and our success. Let’s hope it’s another point at least tonight. UTG! You’re absolutely spot on if Fleetwood got to Wembley they might muster 5000 with a fair wind? we took 40000 without breaking a sweat and you can say what you like about Barton but he’s a clever lad and seems to me the only one since DC that actually has the passion and drive to try and unlock that potential fan base and the nous to recognise it the last two at least seemed to just go through the motions And of course he will gain instant respect from the players, he’s played at the highest level, how could Garner possibly galvanise a squad when he’s never been there and done it

I watched scots prem last night, something I don't think I've ever done before. Ross C v Motherwell, it looked liked decent L1 level, possibly championship relegation level. I hadn't realised how poor it was. It’s utterly dire and Celtic and Rangers are spinning myths , laughable football

Many posters have over the last months been saying we lacked leadership. The return of one of senior and most respected players in Rodman has had an positive influence on the team. He has had a couple of of strong performances as has Leahy who seems well suited to the Captains role. Leahy may not be our best defender but he does have an eye for goal. The win has cheered me up tremendously. Not only a win but the style in which we won gives me hope we will survive Rodman was superb yesterday, and you can tell every time you hear him speak in the press, that he's a very likeable and wise bloke to have around the place. Good footballer as well which certainly helps! Leahy has really surprised me as captain. He's been excellent, and absolutely shows the sort of leadership we've been lacking. I'd be tempted to continue with him as captain even when Ehmer is back fit to be honest. I would agree and wonder even when Elmer gets fit ....would he walk back in ?

So pleased with that team performance
Very good displays from Rodman, Westbrooke and what a battling shift from McCormick
Williams and Harries also deserve praise
Leahy for captain for me
Looks like JB has found the formula, not keen on the late triple substitutions though, bit unsettling after 88 mins of dominance

I really do think he’s the man for us
I was all for his appointment but he’s so impressive to me now
The way he slipped In “ we will be next season “ ie right end of the table
The squad can only improve when they have this belief and confidence behind them

Think we will just stay up
But then I always think it won’t rain on the centenary terrace too

Well I just heard JB interview, and he seemed to be bumming up Kilgore ; Hanlon and Harries; hopefully he was just doing that for their confidence; Of course he was he’s not going to take charge of a team hovering in the drop zone and after one game slag the centre backs in public , look where that got Tisdale when he uttered truths about the strikers everyone from here to Mombasa knows what the problem is and knows what needs to be done to fix it the million dollar question is , are the players good enough to fix and fight it out

A team in our league position that keeps conceding silly goals at one end and struggles to create anything at the other end is going to end up relegated. I think JB is a good manager but I’m not convinced he can perform the miracle we need. Depressing night made worse by another forum member (I almost said fan but that would be wrong) who seems to be revelling in tonight’s result. I’m not sure whether to turn to god or drink. If you fancy incense and bead jiggling you could go catholic and do both

Did you watch the game, did you agree with them? Apart from the goal I can't remember him getting the better of the WIgan defenders all night, think he needs a rest as that might do him the world of good, Harrison coming on as sub always looked better than when he started. I thought at times his pace and power troubled their defenders and won us a few freekicks, but wasn't necessarily in particularly threatening areas. He needs some support. I thought if anyone was poor tonight it was Nicholson who stepped on the ball and ran it out of play on numerous occasions and looked out of sorts, whether that is due to an injury or not, I'm not sure. Agree Nicholson looked like he was trying too hard to impress and appeared to be playing in roller skates for much of the game def do not want to criticise Hanlon who has put a lot of shifts in but he needs to work on his touch and awareness . JB seems to think he can get 15 goals a season from him but not sure a relegation battle if the place to try it personally I would have stuck Ayunga out there tonight who would have had some residual confidence from the Pompey game with Hanlon perhaps making an impact late on

Seems to me that Jb is already relishing being the blue underdog in a 2 team city and appears more than aware of the potential on pitch success could unleash
I don’t think anything would please him more than to lead 40000 plus gas heads back up the M4 to Wembley for a play off
Did expect a bit of a charm offensive but there’s no harm in trying to change a few minds along the way
I think this bright lad can see what’s in front of him and may choose to tailor his behaviour accordingly. If he doesn’t then he def needs his head read!
The fact that the board have backed him and also allowed his coaching team along makes this a significant day for rovers and I don’t think the board need to say much more tbh
