Few will agree but I think Tisdale takes most of the blame. He took over a team that had showed plenty of promise during the first 11 games. We had a fairly settled team that were not short on confidence, had a clear way of playing and were playing for the manager. Defending in open play was sound but we needed to work on set pieces. We had Hanlan and Daly who were starting to form a good partnership. There was plenty to work on but surely we were only going to improve from there, especially with a January transfer window to plug any gaps from the summer recruitment. By the time Tisdale left we had no clear shape or style of play, no idea on a starting 11 and the players confidence was shot. And the window had been and gone with little more than a bang average goaly and right back signed. Is this a wind up? He did say few will agree And I don’t either but it has to be at least a factor

Tisdale was a bit of a whipping boy to be honest. Most of the damage was done before he got here. That's now 3 managers that can't get a tune out of these players though, what does that tell you? It tells me that Barton will hopefully be the last manager we have for a month or two !

Yes. We’ve been sh** all season long and yet... we’re still not in the relegation zone. That is an incredible thing when you weigh it up. Really and truly the way we’ve played we could easily have been adrift by now. Yet - win against Swindon and we’re suddenly pretty well placed to stay up. It’s an opportunity if the players have got the guts to take it. I don’t think there’s been a bigger IF all season they had the guts at Charlton and look where that got em you just can’t call it , it’s truly mental

Leahy has earned that band and I won’t hear a word against him , yes he goofed at Hull but jeez anyone with a little defensive responsibility must be allowed the odd mistake As someone said earlier without him we’d be adrift already He’s busting a gut every game to get in behind and must be supported not criticised unless anyone can see a player out there working harder and prepared to do the hard miles Anyone ? Westbrook is clever and deft but would really benefit from someone like Ogogo , O Clarke etc , alongside , the fact he’s currently got Upson makes him look even more delicate but there is a sharp brain in there and it’s talks v well to his feet I’m not nor ever have been keen on Upson , he’s too slow to the punch , stands off too much and tracks without conviction I’d like to see Daly have a sustained run over Hanlon at this point. It’s not happening with Hanlon and just cos he’s scored 6 goals or whatever it is doesn’t mean he’s going to score another 6 , I can’t see him getting a rapport with Ayunga who I do rate and we should be building around him IMO Defence , I can’t even fathom where to start And Anssi can’t get back quick enough for me either What a feekkin season

Does he mean back soon as in he will be into the squad returning from fat camp ?
Or back soon as in he’s off to fat camp for the summer ?
I thought he looked a very tidy, clever player personally but we shall see what we’ve got after an extended run which to be fair he’s never had

It’s a very difficult thing for Barton to explain so pegging it onto standards and readiness, preparation is about as far as he can go publicly He needs to keep the team bouyant, positive , motivated And clearly every fibre of his being wants to scream the things we all know They are too inexperienced and the team is generally too green and defensively poor and more than likely not good enough overall They are just about good enough going forward, can score goals here and there, even ride a bit of luck and gain a 2-0 lead but how much longer will it be before before the front men really start to detest the back men This job will be enough to test a saint , let’s hope St Joseph has enough patience to see these 11 games out , remember the potential of this club and ride the storm cos I think he’s ready to rip it up right now . Last night was a massive kick in the teeth , absolutely massive Doesn't that make Wriddington's position untenable given he was HoR last summer? The more you hear the more you wonder how he got promoted to DoF following BG's departure. I wonder how much longer Wael will take of JB questioning the way the club's been run in the past? Perhaps JB is just the person to pull the owners head out of the sand . He’s the one that’s been around the block , he’s the one that’s seen how things are and get done at the highest level. Rovers are currently a rich mans toy and people like Starnes are hanging on for the ride IMO widdrington was never as smug as when he presided over the Pompey win, been pretty quiet ever since tho and the penny will surely drop for Wael if a third manager cannot string two wins together from this squad the blame lies with Garner but Widdrington gave him the list.......

Mark Little has not played much football at all for best part of 18 months ??
Was he really the player to bring on when we are trying to shepherd a point into the pen ?
Just seems JBs presser and he’s bang on really
Turn around and look at the bench and he will go, nope we cannae with anything wi THESE kids
so he’s sent on an old head with rusty legs
dilemma doesn’t even cover it

I would give my w@nking arm right now to have Tony Craig on the pitch
I could cheerfully throttle BG for cutting him loose
No way on this planet would he have let that precious three points drop
Barton must wonder what the actual F##k he has to do to lock a simple win down

Wasn’t the metro bus scheme supposed to sort the transport issue in Bristol
Does anyone have the figures about how much traffic has improved since it’s launch

Joey Barton thinks we are a big club because we could if the football is pretty and we are in the top 8 pack out the Mem with 12000
Give us a cup final or a Wembley play off we muster 40000
Get us in the Championship and sort the ground out we would have possibly 18-20k every week
We have as much potential to be a big club as the sh,t down the road without the distraction of rugby, basketball, tiddlywinks etc
Then reality hits and we look at where we averagely always are - as usual , aspiring to be a top 6 L1 side interpersed amid mid table mediocrity and scrapping for survival
I listen to Spurs fans etc on Talk sport and I think, you don’t know you’re born lads

This would be suitable for the Development side, but we will need something more grandiose for the first lX If we are playing 9 a side we won’t need a bigger ground for that

Voluntary (Expenses) basis. From what understand the scouting set up is miles behind our beloved rivals. I know a scout from Bridgwater who is part of the junior club my son is at and I help out at and he was scouting for Rovers when I 1st met him. Not long after he left the Rovers set up to link up with City as they would pay him expenses to go and watch junior football where Rovers would only pay you if a player was recruited to the academy. We are losing scouts all the time due to the fact there is nothing in it for them and this needs to change quickly if we want to build a successful academy. Rovers are literally miles behind everyone within a 40 mile radius, no scouting presence in the area the fact that a BIC development team (basically v good grass roots boys) turned over their u13s academy so easily says it all the best unsigned boys in Bristol play for BIC and BIC only feed city.....

Interesting thread
My son plays development football and it’s very telling locally where the strengths lie to make the step up to academy football
City, Cardiff, Cheltenham , FGR and now even Glos City having tier 3 status are mopping up the local talent
Rovers haven’t had scouts on the ground for quite a few years now , can’t speak for all the age groups but this years rovers u13 are not particularly strong , turned over easily by BIC 6-2 last time they had a fixture. Completely out muscled.
BIC do not feed rovers. All the talent goes to Bristol City with the occasional boy wriggling loose of his own accord and signing with FGR / Cheltenham, etc . City have just signed 3 u13s from Bic and FGR also signed one. Rovers nowhere near having a clue where the next generation are at
It’s not good news for local boys and def not good for rovers Academy longevity.
I see today they are advertising for scouts. About time !

Take nothing away from last night , awesome performance and a serious statement by quite a few players
Barton will keep their feet firmly on the ground one imagines
I can’t be alone in wishing the rollercoaster would stop for a couple weeks and we just comfortably win the next 4 games 2-0
Nice to watch middle of the road composed workmanlike and professional football
Next target has to be a clean sheet as GD could have a say in this relegation battle yet

I'm pleased with the performance and result but we mustn't get carried away. Look mate I know you were against Barton and all, but we all have to put up with your 'BOOM' and gloating any time you predict a score right, or the manager who got employed. People are delighted we just smashed a very good team 4-1 during a relegation fight. Let people enjoy themselves, it isn't often we've been able to in the last 12 months. No one is allowed to enjoy themselves cos GGMI carried the anti Barton flag too high and waved it too hard in the week preceding his appointment and like I said at the time, eat your hearts out, just don’t tell me it tastes bitter in Barton we trust

Quite a bit of plain speaking from JB in today’s conference
Alluded to professional standards not high enough
Proposed social media ban
And affirmed he’s here for the long haul
Think a few will have to grow up pretty quickly in the next few weeks

We simply have to win it
JBs presser seems like he’s had enough honeymoon and he’s now looking for professional men to stand up and be counted
