Pirate has been fiddling around with the timings of his posts and editing them after a rethink. It's all a bit sad really. Quite revisionist too. Me support Garner? Ho ho don't think so. Look at this post I edited after he was sacked!!!!! Bullshit. I made a thread about him after Tony Pulis had sung his praises and tipped him for a future management role. That was around the time of Coughlan'a departure I think. I said then a 'left field' shout. I did later change my mind and that is a fact, but I was also willing to back him when he was eventually appointed and hoped it would work out. Wael was hoping to go down the buy low sell high approach and a good coach was required. I was told "like Brentford, but on a smaller scale" or words to that effect. Garner is a good coach and a lot of the players enjoyed playing for him, he just wasn't cut out for first team management. The club also screwed up the recruitment as per usual. But let me make it clear for dullards like yourself and yatton who I'm sure have never made a bad call in their life, I didn't actually interview the fella or even appoint him. In some ways he actually reminds me of Taylor, shockingly bad football and a personality to cure the worst case of insomnia. Confession is good for the soul and people can be surprisingly forgiving. Deception and denial are uncomfortable bedfellows.

I'm not sure what those stats say. A good player in a poor side would have a lower ppg than a poor player in a good side. I think what these stats show us is who was playing when most of our points were won. It's not saying they had a series of good personal performances if they have a high PPG or bad personal performances if they have a low PPG - but this is a measure of all the players in the squad across all the games so it's a big sample size - therefore we should get a good idea of who made the team better (although not necessarily how or if they personally made it better...) I don't wish to seem rude but I haven't the faintest idea what that means.

After careful consideration I had the foresight to admit I was wrong BEFORE his appointment. gaschat.co.uk/post/606035 Like Rotherham did when they sacked the useless Leam Richardson and appointed a proper manager, but sadly we aren't as brave. Run by stubborn and narcissistic fools who are the types to only acknowledge they are wrong when its too late. I knew it was going to be a disaster when Wael was leading the search for a new manager. An what an absolute disaster it has been. Deary me. View AttachmentStop lying. That post is after he was appointed. We can all remember you bigging him up at the time. You made me think we were all wrong. But I just went back and double checked. When he was appointed, you were saying great appointment, the board have done the right thing etc. Topper and others were in disagreement and you were saying that were wrong and upset as their choice was appointed. The post you just shared was months after he had been in charge. So if you changed your mind before, why were you arguing with those who were against the appointment?? Pirate has been fiddling around with the timings of his posts and editing them after a rethink. It's all a bit sad really. Quite revisionist too. Me support Garner? Ho ho don't think so. Monotone has been telling everybody and anybody who would listen that all the players are frail and its not his fault that during the past six months he has been unable to get a squeak of a tune out of them; finally after taking another walloping at the hands of the high flying Wigan last Saturday, he sticks his head out of his shell claiming by the order of the peaky Gasheads the retained list would be published today, ffs he cannot even deliver list of names on a scrappy piece of paper. How do you know 'Monotone's' 🥱 list wasn't delivered on time and he's not actually responsible for the press office and the website? Or his list was vetoed? Or other reasons you know equally little about?

Not convinced we should expect people to haul a laptop, or even a desktop PC, to games though, should we? Just seems odd that somebody has access to a laptop/PC/tablet but not a mobile phone, usually it's the other way round. Not really so odd at all. Almost every home in the country had a laptop or PC long before smartphones came along and it's a technology that now-elderly people got used to. I know at least five over-70s who have laptops but not smartphones.

Strange how everyone seems to accept that you pay a booking fee for tickets sent electronically, which costs the club virtually nothing, and pay no fee for paper tickets collected in person from a real human and paid for with cash, which costs the club quite a bit.
This is the right way round compared to the normal process, but £15 is extremely steep and I guess it's more of a frightener to stop people doing it.

Advert : Young, hungry, semi professional footballers wanted for a chance of League One football, a sensible wage, and the chance to prove yourself. A few days of open auditions and MT picks the best. Surely this is as likely to succeed as listening to agents, or picking up players already on the merry go round. Not MT's style, He likes to ship out youngsters and make room for older experienced players over 30 ( See his Rotherham days). I guess that why they need a bigger treatment room at he quarters! Not a fair comparison since that was in the Championship. On a limited budget he was hardly going to play kids against the big clubs at that level. Totally different in L1 and we shall see what he does, unless the pitchfork mob force him out.

So James Wilson the player who got loads of hate was actually good? I'm not sure what those stats say. A good player in a poor side would have a lower ppg than a poor player in a good side.

I think it's difficult to be as successful second time around because the very fact someone is asked to return means they set a high standard first time around. The fact they probably got sacked is forgotten because we only remember the good times. So anything they do on their return is compared to the good bits and not the hazy poor bits. One to buck that trend - Vaughan Jones’s first spell at rovers was superseded by his second. That is a good example which completely contradicts what I'm saying! I can't remember why we let him go to Newport?

So say is the football mantra. However is it really the case? Off the top of my head and during my time watching Rovers I've see the likes of Bobby Gould, Ian Holloway, Chris Lines, Gary Penrice, Paul Randall return and do a decent job. Conversely, Gerry Francis and John Ward blotted their copybook, although JW did do alright initially. Which players or managers returned and did well and not so well? Is the perceived wisdom really true? I think it's difficult to be as successful second time around because the very fact someone is asked to return means they set a high standard first time around. The fact they probably got sacked is forgotten because we only remember the good times. So anything they do on their return is compared to the good bits and not the hazy poor bits.

The board needs to set a target by the end of October . I would say we need to be top 10-12 . If he don't improve things then they need to act. Deep down they must be disappointed like most fans . They’re not fans . . . Well I'd agree with that. They seem to approach managing us with the same passion a new Building Society manager does.

We were 13th when Super Matt took over, with a game in hand on 11th place, which had we won it (stop sniggering at the back), we'd have been 11th. We finished 15th. A great improvement by Taylor (out). 🏴☠️ Red hot wealthy Championship promotion contenders Bristol Rovers appoint a new manager when sitting in 13th place. Club finish 15th and ambitious fans demand his immediate sacking as pigs soar gracefully through the skies above.

Finley will end up at a club close to scouseland in L2 or NL. Somewhere like Rochdale, Oldham, Chesterfield or Accrington Chesterfield is in Derbyshire and no where near Liverpool. Northern pigeon fancying clog wearing unwashed communists, the lot of them.

Just when Sunak thought he was getting through a difficult time. "Dr Poulter said he would sit as a Labour MP until the general election and then stand down." www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-68913287I can sort of understand Tories defecting to Reform, and I expect those on the other forum can easily imagine Labour MPs defecting to the Workers Revolutionary Party, but I can never quite see how the bridge between Tory and Labour is crossed so easily. I suppose I'm old school and in reality the differences are not so great these days, despite the odd maverick like Corbyn or Truss still popping up.

Matt Taylor. The only manager in the league to be blamed for the league positions of two teams at once. Not withstanding the fact that we finished 15th, despite a poor run-in. Higher than the three previous managers. No time to be sacking anyone.

I'm just astonished at how many goals Arsenal are knocking in this season. In any normal kind of year they'd be about 10 points clear.
