It's reasonable to charge for a physical card because it costs a lot more to provide them. Manufacturing, admin, handling, packing, postage.
What isn't reasonable is to introduce the charge after people have paid. It's clearly a decision taken recently or it would have been announced at the time renewals were offered.
This could all have been avoided if someone had planned in advance and told people about the £15 some months ago.
It's all a bit shabby and amateur, but I suppose we're used to that.

From someone who stands on the west terrace near the tunnel it isn't good for me, but hey ho,but as long as my fellow gasheads can see that's fine by me. Maybe we can put a concave mirror on top of the East Stand pointing towards the hospitality? As the sun beats down on the East stand it'll be like a sort of Death Star laser beam. 👍

Will always be a favourite of mine, loved how he came back to help us get back into the league. Never understood why GC was a bit odd about the exact number of appearances he had made - he deserved to celebrate it without any doubt being cast. Yes GC was a bit petty about that, refusing to acknowledge 500 appearances. Bit out of character really, so they obviously fell out about something or other. It was a shame and unnecessary.

So JCH’s Peterborough career ended tonight… Just saying I see he was thrown on for the last 20 mins so obviously Ferguson thinks he can still do a job. I wonder where he'll go? 🤔

The amount of non playing staff I see walking across the pitch before kick off is mind boggling! Do we REALLY need them? Goalkeeping coach, defensive coach, two physios for injured players?, water boy, manager, asst manager, etc etc etc. We're not Man City! How many did we have in the Gerry Francis days? GF his assistant and a physio who saved Ian Alexander's life by pulling his false teeth out of his wind pipe! Depends if they are good or not. If we can afford to have more staff which allows them to focus on their specialist activity and this leads to us having a competitive advantage then why not imo? Club can't win really. Some say we are a tinpot outfit with insufficient backroom staff to manage the club. Others say we are overstaffed and bloated and wasting money.

I'm wondering if KP is having some serious words with his source. It's taking a while to come true. Surely not misinformation?

Not sure what they would hope to gain by being mischievous? Or why they would be happy to create a storm?A good relationship between Bristol Rovers and the Supporters Club would be for everyone's benefit. Far more likely the SC just trusted that the response was formal and appropriate without too much scrutiny and relayed it to members/supporters (via their website) as it was received. I don't know what the HR policy is at Rovers when it comes to electronic communications, but I suspect that when you send an e-mail from your work account to an external account you are representing the company and it becomes a formal, public communication (as e-mails can be shared). They should not be expecting or relying the recipient of the e-mail to re-word it before sharing. It might well be considered public domain as soon as it has been posted. Unless they are now have a completely different set up it's the same SC who reported Wael to the FA for safeguarding issues which were found to be completely false? Anybody could see the club's response was likely to be a bit controversial, so why just go ahead and publish it without checking it was OK to do it? I'd like to know who decided to delete the tweet showing the response from the club. There's also no mention of it on the SC website. I wonder if the club reached out to the SC and asked them to take it down? Or someone in the SC could see it was damaging to publish its unintentionally clumsy words and decided the best course of action was to chop it? Of course in this day and age once it's out there, it's out there. Too late.

My ever diminishing circle of friends tell me I MUST watch Ripley on Netflix and Dopesick on iPlayer. Before I take a deep breath and launch into them, has anyone seen either?

Looks like the SC tweet has also now been deleted. Although the previous message (saying they will report back when the club responds) is still there.

I know this is all wrong and stereotyping, but I read the words 'Kazakhstan billionaire' and images of suitcases stuffed with cash and bodies buried under motorways spring immediately to mind.

She's your wife in the same way Dr Hannah Fry is mine mate. 😎 A fine choice. I was watching her hosting Have I Got News For You last week and was quite smitten. I might go and stand outside her house for a few weeks and see if she invites me in for tea.

Very poorly worded then, referring to "disabled fans", "normal fans" and "older fans". That wasn't how I read it. I think the intention was to say concession tickets and normal tickets. I can understand how it's been misunderstood, but I don't think that was the intention and frankly, I don't believe the SC do either. The sensible course of action would have been to double check the intent (if there was any ambiguity) not just publish it knowing it made someone look a twat. Unless the intention was to make someone look a twat. I'm no Gorringe fan, but I think he's been deliberately misrepresented here. Not sure I agree with some of that. The SC asked a question and they published the reply. They didn't make the words up or comment on them in any way. Their interest was in the reply about the cost of a physical ticket. And it was published. They say 'as promised' although I can't find a link where they promised they would publish a reply. I'm sure TG or whoever wrote it meant no offence and it has been jumped on and completely misinterpreted, but it was at best clumsy wording. From what I've seen and read about the SC club I would think they are surprised about the hoo-hah concerning the word 'normal'. They were probably expecting some noise about the refusal to backtrack on the £15. Personally I don't believe some old wizened hack in the SC read the club response and published because they knew the trouble that would arise from the words chosen. It's just a bit of an unfortunate amateur mishap, which is of course business as usual. An apology for any office caused might have nipped it in the bud. To say it was private and shouldn't have been published is missing the point by some distance. Although to be fair an apology would probably have caused as much trouble. Who proof reads the Head of Comms releases? Probably nobody.

*warning* Hey kids , this is how your brain might get frazzled by reading the daily mail online and watching too much geebeebies. Take care 👍 Go to London and see for yourself. You just don't want to believe how London is being run because it's not reported in your sleepy Somerset village or in the Guardian. I go to London quite a lot because my son and daughter live there, and I lived there too for 10 years. I see how London is being run and don't understand what you're saying. It's a massive multicultural city like New York and Paris. I walk around a lot of the city centre and the suburbs, including some of the 'dodgy' ones they have lived in like Brixton and Tower Hamlets. It's not like something from the Archers, but nobody has ever threatened me, mugged me, abused me or made me feel I should hop on the first train out. What do you expect one of the biggest cities in the world to be like, exactly? Parts of Bristol are just as bad (and good) as London. Anyway the voters of London seem to appreciate Khan, in a democratic vote, so your concerns will be of no concern at all to them.

Pirate has been fiddling around with the timings of his posts and editing them after a rethink. It's all a bit sad really. Quite revisionist too. Me support Garner? Ho ho don't think so. Look at this post I edited after he was sacked!!!!! Bullshit. I made a thread about him after Tony Pulis had sung his praises and tipped him for a future management role. That was around the time of Coughlan'a departure I think. I said then a 'left field' shout. I did later change my mind and that is a fact, but I was also willing to back him when he was eventually appointed and hoped it would work out. Wael was hoping to go down the buy low sell high approach and a good coach was required. I was told "like Brentford, but on a smaller scale" or words to that effect. Garner is a good coach and a lot of the players enjoyed playing for him, he just wasn't cut out for first team management. The club also screwed up the recruitment as per usual. But let me make it clear for dullards like yourself and yatton who I'm sure have never made a bad call in their life, I didn't actually interview the fella or even appoint him. In some ways he actually reminds me of Taylor, shockingly bad football and a personality to cure the worst case of insomnia. Confession is good for the soul and people can be surprisingly forgiving. Deception and denial are uncomfortable bedfellows.

I'm not sure what those stats say. A good player in a poor side would have a lower ppg than a poor player in a good side. I think what these stats show us is who was playing when most of our points were won. It's not saying they had a series of good personal performances if they have a high PPG or bad personal performances if they have a low PPG - but this is a measure of all the players in the squad across all the games so it's a big sample size - therefore we should get a good idea of who made the team better (although not necessarily how or if they personally made it better...) I don't wish to seem rude but I haven't the faintest idea what that means.

After careful consideration I had the foresight to admit I was wrong BEFORE his appointment. gaschat.co.uk/post/606035 Like Rotherham did when they sacked the useless Leam Richardson and appointed a proper manager, but sadly we aren't as brave. Run by stubborn and narcissistic fools who are the types to only acknowledge they are wrong when its too late. I knew it was going to be a disaster when Wael was leading the search for a new manager. An what an absolute disaster it has been. Deary me. View AttachmentStop lying. That post is after he was appointed. We can all remember you bigging him up at the time. You made me think we were all wrong. But I just went back and double checked. When he was appointed, you were saying great appointment, the board have done the right thing etc. Topper and others were in disagreement and you were saying that were wrong and upset as their choice was appointed. The post you just shared was months after he had been in charge. So if you changed your mind before, why were you arguing with those who were against the appointment?? Pirate has been fiddling around with the timings of his posts and editing them after a rethink. It's all a bit sad really. Quite revisionist too. Me support Garner? Ho ho don't think so. Monotone has been telling everybody and anybody who would listen that all the players are frail and its not his fault that during the past six months he has been unable to get a squeak of a tune out of them; finally after taking another walloping at the hands of the high flying Wigan last Saturday, he sticks his head out of his shell claiming by the order of the peaky Gasheads the retained list would be published today, ffs he cannot even deliver list of names on a scrappy piece of paper. How do you know 'Monotone's' 🥱 list wasn't delivered on time and he's not actually responsible for the press office and the website? Or his list was vetoed? Or other reasons you know equally little about?

Not convinced we should expect people to haul a laptop, or even a desktop PC, to games though, should we? Just seems odd that somebody has access to a laptop/PC/tablet but not a mobile phone, usually it's the other way round. Not really so odd at all. Almost every home in the country had a laptop or PC long before smartphones came along and it's a technology that now-elderly people got used to. I know at least five over-70s who have laptops but not smartphones.
