Rotherham have signed Liam Kelly now. 7 signings already. It looks like they are very much looking at the short term and only worrying about this coming season.

Lewis Gordon to Chesterfield. Poor signing for the Spireites. He might do good at that level and at 23 he still has plenty of time to improve.

Alex Hartridge signs for Wycombe. Watch fans moan that we missed out, even though he was an Exeter reject according to most and we don't even know if we wanted him π

was it?Β P 28 Pts 33 would make 1.18 ppg* and 54.28 pts for a full season. Not great, but not relegation. Thought you liked stats!Β *according to transfermarket, havent checked this Relegation-battling form then. Pedant. Most the bad results were when we had nothing to play for and the same thing happened the season before. Let's judge him on next season. We're the current squad we will struggle. Without knowing who we will bring in, it's hard to say how we will do.

Someone posted the article on the Plymouth page half an hour ago and they are not happy. A lot saying he will be a future coach and one joking they should make him manager now. I think they would rather him than Rooney π.
I don't think he will leave them, unless the new manager doesn't want him.

No thanks, the other one we signed who played a big part in their season didnt go too well. 33 too! Wilson was never highly rated by Plymouth fans, but he did a job in a back 3 with others helping. Edward's is a much better player and can play wing back, full back or in midfield. His age would put me off though. When he plays, you get 100% commitment every game and he's the type of player that is shouting at others and gets them going.

A bit early, the Championship play off final hasn't even took place yet Most of our targets will probably be at the Euros. So they might make up their minds after that π

I know there is a long way to go but some news today before the long weekend would be nice! A new signing? A contract extension? Some East stand news? Some South stand facilities/logistics improvements news? The new kit launch? A hint that we are gearing up for an exciting season? Anything......? Nothing π

Alright it might have only been the one. I'm pretty stacked at work right now and mostly skim reading these threads but every time I come on I swear I see posts declaring we have no budget and are about to get relegated and how sh** things are because Rotherham have signed a dozen players already. It's pretty tiring. We'll sign the right players when we're ready. Well over a month before pre season starts so really nothing for us to be worrying about just yet. Nobody has complained then. On Facebook groups people were complaining, but some people moan about anything!

Exeter are well run, but how make clubs are losing loads every season?? Exeter have been breaking even, due to the amount of money they have received for transfers over the years. If they run out of players to sell, they will lose money like everyone else. They have made nearly Β£20 million in the last ten years. That covers a lot of losses and makes the accounts look good. Every club wishes it was run like that. I think that's why we are looking at younger players. But there are no guarantees. If it was that easy, every club would do it. Most of the never youngsters will sign for c**y here, as they have a better academy. One club city's have a better chance of getting the best youngsters in the area. Of course there are no silver bullets in football but Exeter have ran at a profit for a while now by first investing in their youth development and then recycling that money into the ground. You are getting clubs within the pyramid who have a reputation of being well run and Exeter are right, right up there. Of course City currently have a better academy but I'd argue ours has gone backwards in the last decade, it's been more difficult for players to find first team opportunities because of their being no real plan on how we look as a football club.Β I agree, but to improve it, we will have to spend even more money in the short term and get into more debt. We had a few players taken by Villa a few years ago, it's like the club gave up on the youth then. Until we improve our set up, we will not attract the better youngsters and we will lose the better players we have at a young age. That's one of the reasons why I would argue that the training ground and academy is more important than the stadium redevelopment. Obviously we need both long term, but if we could do one first, I would pick the training ground.

Lad from wolves u21s coming in on loan. Unsure on name atm Alfie Pond is known to Taylor. Have you seen him play, or any clips of him at all?? It looks like he was highly rated at a young age and got the move to Wolves. But he didn't play many games while on loan to Stockport last season. So his career, could still go either way. Taylor played him at a young age in the cup though and rated him highly. So a loan to us could make sense and suit all parties. Obviously it might not be him, but it's a good shout that it could be him.

ALL football managers will want to bring into a club players they know, respect and rate. Why should Matt Taylor be castigated and criticised for doing this? Darrell Clarke brought in Stuart Sinclair, Jamie White and James Clarke from Salisbury City, his previous club. He also brought in Matty Taylor and Jake Gosling who were playing for non-league sides at that time. Plus Manse from TUFC. If 50% of any signings work out that is a great record. DC did well. Supporters may recall the early John Ward permanent signings of Mark McChrystal, Ryan Brunt, Steve Mildenhall, Oumare Toukare, JJOT and Steven Gillespie. 50% success at least. Matt Taylor's first two permanent signings are Kamil Conteh and Chris Martin. Not a bad start. Surely it makes sense that he will now start to look towards Exeter City and Rotherham United for other potential signings. Some of the possible signings for us were given their league debuts by MT. He will have known some of these players for four or five years. They will know how MT works and would only join us if they trust and respect him. Rather than belittling MT for signing ex-Grecians and the like he should be taken to task if he DOES NOT sign any players who he has previously worked with. Unless, of course, he finds a pot of gold to fish in a bigger pond. I look forward to hearing news of players signing for us that will probably understand the manager and his style of management and are happy to play for him because of previous experiences. As always, if 50% of the signings end up a true asset it will be good work. That doesn't bode well when he couldn't even get a tune out of arguably his best player at Exeter. Thats one thing I thought would improve when MT came in, sadly Brown was just as useless as he was under Barton. I don't think Brown had fully recovered from his off field problems and his time away from football where he couldn't train. At least Taylor did drop him and tell him he had to work on his fitness and motivation and didn't give him any special treatment. Hopefully now he enters the last year of his deal, he will have the motivation to at least put some effort in.

WTF, JCH signs for Rotherham within days of leaving Posh, so there's 20 goals guaranteed in division 1 gone. Doh. Well Monotone has now finally well and truly got rid of all of our / his ghosts from Christmas past, he's now sat in the quarters with no one else to blame bar himself, lets hope George can turn water into wine, because Matty has no football pedigree and / or significant other contacts north of Cheltenham to call upon. JCH was never going to fit into our reduced wage budget, especially with Martin on the books. So I'm glad he's signed elsewhere early. I thought Grimsby was north of Cheltenham?? It's funny how Conteh said Taylor was a big reason for him signing. You choose to ignore comments like that, as they didn't fit into your agenda.

Personally i'm gutted. Guaranteed 20 goals a season. I'm sure we'll sign some nobody from Palace's U23's instead who will be as weak as Fosters and as lethal as a marshmallow. Never been this unexcited as a Rovers fan in many many many years. Let's see what Exeter ressies Taylor has lined up before you get too despondent. π Noombe could be available now π. I'm not sure why you are hung up on Exeter reserves. His only signing came from Grimsby and was a player that you previously named yourself. Let's see what the summer brings, before trying to guess what type of player he will sign.

No guarantees in football, especially when players get over 30.
