From the article:
“Bristol Rovers are closing in on a deal to sign former Bristol City centre-back Taylor Moore on a free transfer after his departure from French second division side Valenciennes, Bristol Live understands, which will make the versatile defender their first signing of the summer transfer window.
The 27-year-old was released by the Robins in May 2023 having made 60 appearances over the course of a seven-year stay which also included loan spells at Bury, Cheltenham Town, Southend United, Blackpool, Hearts and Shrewsbury Town. Moore then made the move to France having lived there as a boy, coming through the youth ranks at RC Lens.
Born in Walthamstow in East London before moving abroad, the defender went on to make 10 senior appearances for Lens, four of which in Ligue 1, before returning to his homeland in 2016 when signing for City in a deal that was believed to be in excess of £1million. The Englishman has over 100 appearances at League One level having most recently played in the English third tier for Shrewsbury in the 2022/23 season, during which he played 42 of the Salops' 46 league games including both against the Gas. He also has six caps for England at Under-20s level.
Moore then returned to France last summer, signing a three-year deal with Valenciennes and made 22 appearances but left in April as they eventually finished bottom of Ligue 2, the French second tier.
Although predominantly a centre-back, the 27-year-old has shown versatility in the past by also being able to play right-back and was also known to play in midfield when at Shrewsbury. Moore is expected to become Rovers' first signing of the summer transfer window and adds necessary depth and quality to Matt Taylor's options at the back, particularly after the departures of loanees Elkan Baggott and Tristan Crama back to Ipswich Town and Brentford respectively as well as Josh Grant's release with the 25-year-old often playing in defence last term.“

Best quote about yesterday’s game: “England lost to Iceland; they’re ranked 72nd in the world, that’s below Jordan. Nobody wants to be below Jordan, not even Peter Andre does these days . . . “

To be fair Pirate you have a clear passion and love of scouting. I’ve followed your thread for years even though I don’t know the players. Not sure if you do it just for fun but I believe how hard work and passion should be rewarded. You deserve a role. Seconded

Very disappointing, if true. So from the back it's going to look like 57 other clubs' kits. We have a unique kit and still manage to bollards it up. Given that virtually every fan wants quarters on the back (a stat I haven't checked and have just made up), why is it becoming increasingly common for the club to go for a solid back? Other clubs seem to manage the incredibly difficult task of making the reverse resemble the front. Because they’re really not interested in what we want . . .

I suspect a lot of you are using your free weekends doing all those jobs you didn't have time for during the football season. My eyesight (and general lack of ability) means my cricketing days are behind me unless the team are very short, so while my Mrs recovers from covid, I did the guttering yesterday - see, if you dont get a season ticket next season, that is the sort of thing you might have to do - or worse, the prospect of being dragged around clothes and shoe shops by the Mrs! I think she wants to be the next Imelda Marcos! - you have been warned! Suddenly even during a non scoring run, having a drink and banter with your mates doesn't seem so bad. Anyway, whilst having a clear out, you discover some unwanted football items, particularly Rovers, or those presents from an auntie that you just stuck in the drawer never to see the light of day, why not save them and donate them to the SC? They can always be used as raffle prizes at SC events, or hopefully we might see the return of Bid On the Side which raised thousands for the 50/50 fund. I kid you not, there was a game, I think in the Graydon era, where there was some sort of local authority safe sex promotion and I passed Jamie a Rovers kit design condom holder to list. That's a novelty item! Ironic it was during Rays tenure, as generally we couldn't score in a brothel. Hah - I’ve still got one of those 😁

I’m of the opinion that our form suffered noticeably when he wasn’t playing, especially at the end of the season. But obviously AS Junior knows a lot more about football than any of us (including MT), so was absolutely dam’ right to offer him less money or whatever . . . I think we will miss him next season.

Transfer window opens 14th June. That means we will not be signing anyone before then, just in case some people get inpatient. but pre contract agreements can be announced as can extensions. Still agree we wont hear much if anything before then And not forgetting free agents as well . . .

Another no brain used decision from the club. There having a laugh at the expense of supporters who are not in the digital world. Shame on the club and as for the £15, what hat did they pull that from. Seems like only five minutes ago the club was sending us gift packs for renewing our ST’s. After the sh** they have served up this season they should of sent us all £50 gift vouchers for our inconvenience. They really don't know how to read the room, do they? I reckon the AS’s have been to a couple of Prem games and have seen how the Prawn Sandwich Brigade do Soccer, and think they can run Rovers like that; despite how absolutely sh**e the football has been/probably will continue to be, and the fact that we are essentially a working-class lower-league club, supported in the main by working-class people. In the words of George Orwell, “the new owners unbellyfeel football" . . .

Well I'd agree with that. They seem to approach managing us with the same passion a new Building Society manager does. If that, even . . .

The owners are to blame for getting Taylor he was always the cheap option The board needs to set a target by the end of October . I would say we need to be top 10-12 . If he don't improve things then they need to act. Deep down they must be disappointed like most fans . They’re not fans . . .

Heard Rossiter is on his way also. Both going Stockport I’d be surprised if anything was lined up already after he’s only managed what 3 halves of football following a year and a half out with a knee injury - especially after a career littered with knee related absences. Indeed; and I know I’m probably being naive, given the mercenary nature of modern football, but you would kind of hope that he would give us at least an attempt at a full season as a Rovers player, given that the club’s been paying him whilst he’s spent so long out injured . . .
