Expect his name to be linked with the teds as they were told they would be playing in Europe in the near future.

Horrible to even think about, but if we lost DC I would go for Peter Beadle. If he would come

I understand Rickie Lambert is doing his badges currently., I never want to see DC leave that's unthinkable. Should he ever decide to leave then I'd replace a legend for a legend. I've always thought Rickie would make a great manager...

Nathan Jones? He's been gone too long. Yep, he went up the ladder to the roof. And hasn’t been seen since! UTG!

The record of the Cowleys is fantastic but 5hey do like a very direct way of playing and I’m not sure we would have the players t9 do that straightaway. Would need a few windows to get the best. UTG!

Michael Appleton now that would be a popular choice with the fan base, NOT. Here's hoping its a decision we dont have to make for a few years yet. UTG

How about advertise the post, see who applies, shortlist and interview rather then limit ourselves to CH (failed elsewhere), MS (doesn’t inspire) or LM (never even coached a first team)
Lets be proffessional about it

I have to agree with both of the above, only other name I would throw into the ring is Marcus Stewart. I wouldn't go down the experienced route though as we seem to have found a template for success for us, going with the younger managers. Especially ones who have an association with the club already. It might seem the more risky option, but it is cheaper and seems to work for us better. MS didn't do well when he was in charge against Doncaster, and it must have been on his recommendation we've got Nichols. Heir Apparent Tony Craig?

We don't want to hire someone who is going to rip up or ignore the foundations that DC and the club are putting in place, be that attitude, work ethic or the development squad and an internal appointment might be the right one

Very good player for us and a fans favourite , but in my opinion need to play more than 120 odd games to fall into that category. Having said that wouldn’t be opposed to him joining the coaching team.

Lambert Legend ?? Very good player for us and a fans favourite , but in my opinion need to play more than 120 odd games to fall into that category. Having said that wouldn’t be opposed to him joining the coaching team. Lambo played around 155 times for us. What makes a legend? Surely there has to be some rich narrative(s) attached to the player’s time at the club and some heady successes. Is longevity necessary? Do we look back on Andy Rammell as a legend, even though he played only 12 league games for us? What about Carlos Tevez? Do West Ham fans attach similar status to him, as although he has similar stats to Rammell, he was equally important in saving his club from the drop when all hope was lost? On the other side of the coin, would someone like Gary Penrice achieve legendary status? Two great periods of service with us, a real affinity with the club and I loved the way he played the game, but he had no promotions to show for it, no glorious cup runs, no last ditch escapes from relegation. In fact he was in a couple of squads that you could argue, blew their chances of glory. (Maybe a bit harsh on the 1988/89 team) It’s an interesting subject and hard to define. For me, all the above (including Penrice) are legends, as is Lambert, who scored a legendary goal to beat City, achieved a promotion, was part of our joint best cup run (scoring the winning goal to send us through to the quarter finals) and scored a hat full of great goals. In fact, from a purely technical point of view, his volley against Luton, which came from a ball that the Gods dropped from the sky, is arguably a contender for the best ever Gas goal!

If DC were to ever leave us, I would move heaven and earth to bring John Coleman from Accrington. What that bloke has achieved is nothing short of miraculous.
DC bangs on about how his teams have to constantly over achieve because of the budget, I wonder how Coleman manages his success. Accrington are one of only a handful of clubs that have a worse stadium than us, and their crowds are truly woeful, pathetic when compared to ours. I can only surmise that Coleman would be able to at least match DC's achievements if he was our manager. Perhaps even better them when you consider he has taken his team up, probably as Champions.

John Coleman... look at what he has achieved on a small budget and the football he has them playing is a joy to behold.
