Hypothetical question but if DC were to leave tomorrow, who would you want to replace him? I would go for someone like Paul Tisdale who has built a competitive team with limited resources. Failing that someone who has got out of league 1 (promoted) more than once.

Chris Hargreaves. Always comes across very well in interviews and is very much on the same page as DC, he has managerial experience at Torquay too which is a bonus. For me I can't look beyond him, promoting from within would also avoid a protracted search for a new manager as Oxford recently experienced.
But let's hope DC stays with us for a good while longer as his determination and ambition for the club really shine through, not to mention his accomplishments up to date. It would be a disaster if DC was to leave any time soon.

I have to agree with both of the above, only other name I would throw into the ring is Marcus Stewart. I wouldn't go down the experienced route though as we seem to have found a template for success for us, going with the younger managers. Especially ones who have an association with the club already. It might seem the more risky option, but it is cheaper and seems to work for us better.

If there's a God, he/she/it might do.
That's all.
Simply the best thing to happen to us in a generation.

How do you replace the irreplaceable?
God forbid he does leave (although it would be understandable given the constraints to which he works here), but one thing that does occur throughout our relatively recent history is that young managers in their first or second jobs are often the ones who bring the most success or produce the most attractive sides.
Megson, Williams, Francis, Holloway, Trollope, Clarke...
Consider these names against the more experienced ones of recent years: Ward, McGhee, Francis 2nd time around, Graydon, Allison...
Not foolproof as there's always a Buckle around the corner to be the exception that proves the rule, but it does seem to be the case that the younger manager is the more suited here.
I don't know who that man is though. Assuming Stewart follows DC, Hargreaves is a good shout. If not, I wouldn't be averse to giving Mansell his chance, should he have ambitions in that direction. Failing that, a young manager from outside the club. Who that is I have no idea!
Better still...Darrell, please don't go!

It depends how soon it would happen I guess as not sure he'd be ready yet, but I can imagine him meeting that right balance of having the players on side but also distancing himself when he needed to.

Ok, after a little more reflection on who could conceivably come in from outside...
Gary Waddock Stewart Campbell (I'll fetch my tin hat) Danny Cowley
Would still prefer DC though.

At Mansfield season before last ,Mansell stood up to a lot of provocation especially from an ex city player who was committing terrible stuff off the ball and eventually sent off. That player who I recall was ugly ended up at Leyton Orient.Nicky Hunt I think. Anyway,Manse stood firm and played a Captain's role to perfection.Reckon he'll manage one day.We won in the final minute and Easter was wrongly sent off.DC mustn't ever be allowed to go.He is very professional about not revealing his angst over the lack of any progress with a new stadium which is much to his credit.

If D.C. goes would like Tisdale Cowley or waddock don’t think personally Stewy would do well as a number 1, but hope DC stays. I know he is ex 82 ers but always rated Micky Mellon as a decent manager, now at Tranmere.

Keith Hill the Rochdale manager, considering the budget he must work under I thought his team was one of the best footballing sides to visit the mem this season. Also when he speaks he comes over as decent & well respected guy.

DC will be a very hard act to replace, and l guess if and when he moves on Marcus Stewart will probably move on with him. For me Paul Tisdale would be my first choice closely followed by Gary Waddock or Danny Crowley.
