It must be a huge shock, given he was bed-bound with a stomach bug 48 hours ago! Or... They knew and Peterborough had requested he didnt play? Maybe??? That’s a ludicrous suggestion.

That’s a ludicrous suggestion. whys that? I was being sarcastic. My gut feeling as soon as Garner said he had a stomach bug was that it was a fib and he was heading out the door.

Just to add in I think this is a great bit of business from the club. I started a thread a few months back because I alluded jch doesn't seem to command the same reverence as other, more established previous strikers. There appears to be not as much emotional attachment, and I think that's the general consent from both forums today. Good luck to him, but we move on..
Two things. I really, really hope we have negotiated a sell on clause....one thing Peterborough seem to do well is sell on their used wares for a profit.
We definitely need a proven goalscorer at this level or we won't have learned anything from Lambo era. And it could take years to recover if we don't act soon.

What if the deal for Toney fell through at the last minute (as a good number of deals do) and it left them hanging with an illegal wage bill?

I think it is in the best interests of both club and player that JCH goes. He clearly did not want to stay here as evidenced by his refusal to sign a new contract. As such his market value was diminishing by the day as we entered the final year of his contract.
Just two random observations: 1. I hope that the club have negotiated some form of sell on clause as part of the transfer package. 2. I also hope that contingency plans are in place to acquire his replacement with one or two new players.

I am now more concerned that someone has signed up with the name Hugh Jarsole. On the one hand I applaud the name, on the other I worry that I am confusing Hugo with Hugh Jarsole. Ahhhh who am I kidding, the other hand is scratching my rollocks as usual, as you were.

Really sorry to see JCH go but fully understand the reasons. Thanks for your efforts in the quarters JCH. I just hope they have the same success with him as we have from the two attacking players we have signed from them in recent years! Not surprised at all. We just can't hold on to anyone decent, same ol' story different player. No ambition as always, we seem to take one step forward, then one back again ! I understand JCH and his contract etc, but Peterborough !! same division ! ? With our fanbase much larger than boro, we must be doing something massively wrong. As DC said, we are going nowhere. Sad They are selling Toney for £6m+ they could probably out bid any L1 club at the moment. If we have got £1m+ for JCH then we should also be in a good position to sign his replacement, we've even got plenty of time to do it and must surely have seen this coming to plan ahead. Surely Wael isn't going to spend £25m+ this summer just to then watch us lose every week?

Not gonna be that straightforward is it mate, let's be honest.

Surely Wael isn't going to spend £25m+ this summer just to then watch us lose every week? Unfortunately BG told the recruitment team “job done for this window lads, got the squad sorted, just tweaks left, go on a four month isolationist holiday and shutdown that player database while you’re at it as we won’t be needing it”. Meanwhile we’ve told Peterborough that we understand COVID19 cash flow considerations and they can pay in instalments, the initial 25p down payment is already in the bank and the next payment is due in 2025...but this means we cannot afford a replacement for JCH just this minute. Wael is back in Jordan and won’t be watching us at all every week as he’s not renewing his ifollow account...something to do with running out of money. In better news ... after resurfacing the car park the club can announce further stadium improvements in that they’ve washed two bricks. At the training ground players are having to play inter squad games on gravel and so the club have hired a new medical trainee...a specialist in removing stones from grazed skin.

God there's some skata spouted on here. I trust Tommy W to have several in the pipeline to cater for exactly this scenario. It would not have been a shock to anyone at the club. The reactions on here of many are completely laughable. If he doesn't want to be here (and his body language over the last few months confirms this) then good riddance. £1 mill+ gives us plenty of options. Onwards and upwards! UTG. P.S. If you don't know what skata is put it into google translate! (Greek-English).
