No he hasn't. That's a completely artificial fiction. He joined a club who'd finished 14th in the league and left them 17th in the same league. Achievement - less than nothing. No, you are wrong and what you are saying is an "artificial fiction". He left them 10th in the table, three points off the top 6. Look, mate. I know you've got a dogshit record of backing managers but you can't make the Joey Barton fairytale into something it's not. He's done f**k all as a football manager and, sadly for us, continues to do f**k all as a football manager.

I'd like Starnes and/or Widdrington to come out and explain this requirement for a "great reset". We did a reset already with our philosophy, which on paper is a sensible one. Why has it gone so tits up? To be frank, if JB and Tisdale before him, have both stated that the club is in such a state behind the scenes, surely either JB, or TW's positions are untenable? How can our director of football and CEO have presided over such inadequacy, that Tisdale and Barton have both said needs a serious revamp? Basically I think that Garner tried to play a "Championship" style of football in Division one, with Division one players. Then there are things that need changing for life in the 2nd or first division. Firstly we need 2 forwards that can score regualry. Hanlon was never that. They need to have experience. Secondly we only need 2 players for each position and a couple of utility players. Next season the first team squad has to be 20, (so says the EFL) so we have 19 players that will not be in the first team or anywhaere near it. (Of course this could change if the bigger clubs moan about it). We have too many players that are not very good at this level. Too many without experience, and a DOF who thinks this team can save itself from relegation. Yes the previous reset looked good on paper, but football is not played on paper, and no club should be changing 10 or so players on one go.

Starnes said in that interview, that we shouldn't allow a manager to spend money on players or have a different philosophy to us. Err, so Coughlin was the last manager to do that and he took us up to 4th. All the others since than have been doing as they were told? I remember when JCH left. They sad we dont necessarily need a like for like player, and that there were goals in the team. Then Widdrington comes out and says this is the best squad since promotion, foolowed by "yes, the team is good enough to survive in this division".
So, perhaps Tisdale couldnt bring in a striker, because the ones "available" were too old and too experienced. They need to stop this and let Barton shape the squad and get the players we need to try and come back up. Asking widdrington and starnes to do it will take us in to the Conference.

Referring back to the OPs original question, my thoughts on it are “the great reset” may not necessarily mean a shift into a new vision for the club. I can’t see that wael will want to move away from the sustainability model and vision and DNA he set out for the club in the summer. Wael is obviously a very wealthy man, but with the current financial climate worldwide there will be a limit to finances and at some point that limit will be reached, leaving a financial sustainability model, or as close too, the only real viable option. I can’t believe wael would appoint JB, or JB would join without the vision moving forward being discussed and agreed on by both parties. For me “the great reset” as referred to by JB will likely be ripping up what has been started and starting over again with a more clear plan and view on how to achieve our transition into Waels vision and direction for BRFC. I agree with what was laid out in the summer and still believe in what we are hoping to achieve, but believe the way it was set about was completely wrong. I think it was a case of trying to build Rome in a day and hopefully a lot will have been learned from this lesson and the great reset will take a better planned approach. We are not aware of the ins and outs and the working behind the scenes, but we can all take educated guesses that all things may not be rosy as the last and current manager have eluded to. This could be a number of things, maybe not all staff/board members are on board with waels new vision, maybe things were not put in place correctly for the managers to achieve what was required due to people higher up not doing their jobs correctly. There could be a whole host of things that could be wrong which we may or may not ever come to light. I’m just hopeful the great reset recognises what has gone wrong, or who isn’t on board and those issues are rectified and we can start again as I do believe what wael wants is what’s best for this great club

If I were Tisdale id have been asking about scope for signing new players before I agreed to manage Rovers. Widdrington, with his team working so many windows ahead, should have had an extensive list of Coventry born recommendations ready for him.

I do wonder where all the "things are wrong at the club" actually sit? There is a threadbare board of directors, two members who have zero experience in any similar position. Add Wael, again no board experience in this business and a CEO who appears to have the personality of middle level admin manager. Is it here? How does that change when one shareholder has 90% of the share capital? Is it the coaching structure? Is it recruitment?
No it's all of it. This club is in a complete mess and the Wael led experiment of ownership style has been a failure. The one success being digging us out of the mess of the Higgs era.
I think we need new ownership and method. The manager is just a cog within that, not the answer alone. Focussing on the manager will only lead to the same place.
All this leads to the conclusion that DC was absolutely right.

Its mad to think some players will have played for us and left, who we will never have seen 'live' Think a number of them will be very happy about the future lack of opportunity to showcase their skills in front of the home fans. Imagine the reaction if Ehmer trots out at the mem at our first home game v Sutton United.

3:39 "What we don't want to do now is to recruit managers that bring in their own philosophy and ideas that are different to ours". 4 months later...."great reset"? How does this tally coherently? Maybe it has slapped them all in the face that you don't win anything with kids.

I am sure Wael will not walk away from a piece of real estate that supports his £18M (circa) of share capital.

Probably why you keep picking these duff managers LJG if we got to the play offs and made it to Wembley I bet you would be in the queue for a ticket? You can sh** all over someone when something bad happens and give them no credit when they have done what we would consider a good job.

Madness blaming Barton when he is the least culpable person at this club.
Barton was on a hiding to nothing, same as anyone else taking that job at that time. Having been a fairly recent premier league player and fiery character I was hoping some of the squad would be eager to impress or be revitalised by his passion, but sadly they are stealing a living in L1.

You can sh** all over someone when something bad happens and give them no credit when they have done what we would consider a good job. Again, that's not really the point I'm making. Most of the threads on here for quite some time have contained a decent amount of posts about how Joey Barton is going to sort this club out. 1. It has for as long as I can remember been Rovers fans continual perspective that everything the club does is wrong and that some unproven outsider is the person to "sort it out" despite the evidence that nearly all of our success historically has come from sustained periods of internal promotion within the club. 2. There's zero evidence that Joey Barton is the man to do anything. He has literally achieved nothing in football management. Clearly some people's definition of "achieve" is quite different to mine and apparently "unsuccessful attempt" means the same as "achievement" in their vocabulary. But the evidence is that we are no better off than if we had stuck with that idiot Garner or that self centred tosser Tisdale.

Making the club sustainable. I honestly cannot think of any club in Div 1 or 2 that can claim it. If you want to be sustainable, you need a winning team, an up to date ground that can be open 7 days a week for functions or events. That's technically advanced so as to need less staff. And a restaurant that is open every evening and even a hotel bolted on to it. and more importantly, the supporters enjoy going to, where they dont get wet, they have a clear view, and they have good facilities such as the bogs with working taps and decent had driers. Food outlets that are efficient and not too expensive. A superstore, with a bigger range in than ours. Flexible ticketing. Season tickets that can be priced in a way to encourage more people to buy one.
You are not going to do it by selling players alone. Everyone knows that, because like this, and probably next season we dont have anyone worth selling for more than a few thousand. As long as we have a ramshackle ground that is limited in capacity, parking, toilets, food outlets and in need of constant maintenance then you can forget the word SUSTAINABLE
