I might be wrong but I understand the extent of the "Actual Bodily Harm" was a chipped tooth. If he had not chipped his tooth ( and if Barton was not a football manager with past convictions ) I guess this would have never got to court. Seems like a waste of tax payers money to drag it through the court system and even more so to run up the huge bill of sending him to prison. Would have been easier for Barton to have been told to pay his dentists bill and they could have all got on with their lives. Anyway anyone else feel that if Widdrington is going to be sacked they will wait until after the court case - Barton goes to jail Widdrington stays to oversee transition to new manager, otherwise Barton is left to get on with the job ..... Edit : The Sun at the time ( if you believe them ) suggests Stendal lost a couple of teeth but also suggested it was a "racially aggravated assault" - I assume because Stendal is German - not convinced Barton is charged with this ? I guess the circumstances will come out in court - I am sure I heard he pushed him, which of course will be different than if he punched him etc etc. Stendal is a nutter as well, not to mention he is in Germany. Come the day of the trial he may not want to bother in travelling back here especially with any Covid restrictions that might be going on. Plus Joey has not been in trouble since, and in full employment. Good stuff. Meanwhile we dont know who the witnesses are and they could win or lose it for him. Lets hope the judge dislikes the Hun

we need to back him 100% fans owner everyone We should have backed Tisdale in January. Tisdales record in Dv 2 Average. Record in Division One Crap. Why would we want him. We want WINNERS. We want a team that can score and defend in Div 2 and Div 1.

Were the Barton haters pointing this much blame at DC for the league 2 relegation? If anything that squad would beat this current shower of sh**e we have now! People are directing most of the blame to Barton purely because they don’t like him because of his history. I’m not a JB hater. I didn’t want him here in the beginning but he is and I think we need to stick with him now and allow him to manage. It could be great! But it could be.....! Whatever, he needs to be given the chance to make his own team. We don’t need another sacking. I think people are blaming JB because the team has tailed off in the last half dozen games and his record is no better than BG or Tis and could be said to be worse. Perhaps some as you say are just haters but not all. Some of his recent substitutions, team selections have been odd and he needs to rein in his habit of criticising everybody and everything and concentrate on the football. UTG!

UTG! the criticising part will always be there from people who have spent their career at the top of their profession. It must be infuriating when they come to our level and see overweight footballers who lead a unhealthy lifestyle and players who cant even control the ball after three touches. I remember ian rush joining wrexham at the end of his career and him commenting on how players couldn't even kick a ball properly.he found it very difficult to allow his mindset to fall to his teamamtes level

So he’s not just come out of the PL and I guess it seems not what he says that’s wrong it’s the manner and how he says it. Being 24th in the table probably means he’s right about a lot of what he says. UTG!

UTG! he certainly is a shoot from the hip guy and he probably does regret some of the things as soon as he says them mid sentence. That part I think as a fanbase we will have to accept is in his character From memory didnt he take over at fleetwood when that ship was not sinking and just needed a gentle movement on the wheel to keep it on the right direction?

I'm no lawyer but I suspect Wael will have had some dialogue with Barton's legal representatives about the possible court outcomes. Assuming he's still here next season lets get behind the guy. Give him a chance to deliver results with a squad of his creation. He's inherited a bunch of players that are the worst in the division. These players have not responded to three managers and I suspect it is for reasons of their attitude and/or ability. I think the situation has been compounded by Barton's managerial style. The players have not responded to him because they are not up to the task. There will be a mass clear out by one method or another. That will not be a bad thing. There appears to be a defeatist aura surrounding the squad and that needs to stop. These players will have relegation on their CVs.. Some of these players have been in more than one relegation team. It's time to start again. A big challenge for him will be dealing with those players still on contract who he simply does not rate. There are quite a few of those. I’d have no confidence in this club looking into anything, after all they appointed that fraud Garner who has put us in this bloody mess. Absolutely, none of this is Widdrington’s fault, Garner’s fault, Tisdale’s fault or JB’s fault. There’s one common denominator who employed all of them - our hopeless recruitment consultant named Wael. FFS wake up all of you. He’s the problem. We are no better off than we were than when his transaction to ‘purchase’ us was completed. It’s his toy and you’ll see that.

I am really struggling to decide on what I feel about Barton and whether or not we go 'all in' and back him fully to take us forward. When he first got appointed I didn't want him because I didn't like the person and felt he was probably an accident waiting to happen. However I was pleased with his passion and initial improvements on the pitch. These however were shortlived and then he started with the unprofessional, unedifying public slatings, egotistical rantings and psychobabble bs. We now find ourselves in such a depressing place - relegated with a mish mash of a squad (better than some make out i reckon but as a whole - sh**e!!) and a DNA long-term project in shatters. I still find Barton grating but I so love his passion for the club and fans, his self-belief and his eagerness to succeed here. He understands it is all about the fans & our passionate & committed (if flawed) owner. For this alone I think we should go for it. Do I think he'll have us in the champ in 3 years (or even out of league 2)? Is is high confidence in his own abilities justified? Absolutely no idea but, in the absence of a better solution, I am tentatively backing him on passion alone knowing no player will be allowed to take our club for a ride while he us in charge. Very Good thread. By having the same players for the same amount of time as the other two he has proved himself no better. If the difference is going to be in player selection then he faces TW to let him take control and Wael to provide the funds. That's if he makes it past June...

For me there is no dilemma. We could have carried on losing 3/4 million a year and eventually go out of business which Wael wasn't going to allow to continue. I understand the way we went I just think we went about it the wrong way, hindsight is a wonderful thing but bringing in that many players and rebuilding a squad from near enough scratch was never and has never been the way forward. Sacking 2 managers in a season is also a sure fire way of being relegated history will show you that and now is the time to back the man who is in charge whether you like him or not. I read certain posters slating his record and comparing him with other managers this season you just can't do that due to all the circumstances. BG built the side and trained them in pre season to play a certain way. Some seem to forget pre season is the most important part of the any season get it wrong and you will suffer. It seems BG bought in players to flood the midfield and play 1 up front. Yes I was concerned with 3 strikers but if you are playing one up front I sort of understand this. I still think sacking BG was hasty and you can check back I said it at the time and my stance has never changed I think we hit the panic button way too early but that's my opinion and I know it's not overly popular. We can't go on having a revolving door we need to stick with JB now whether you are a fan or not and build a side that he wants. Yes his record here is not good but give him the chance to build his side as the current and previous models were not working and are not sustainable. I'm just happy we have a club to go back to in August and hopefully JB can build a team we can get behind and be proud of pulling on the blue and white quarters UTG Ditto!!
